  1. 1) Fitz Hall 2) Paul Murray 3) David Eyres Fitz's timing in tackles was amazing and the number of times he would make last ditch recovery tackles after f*** ups by other players was superb. Definitely why Pogs broke the clean sheet record. When Murray was on his game it was like there were 2 of him on the pitch. He covered every blade of grass. Eyresy is just a ledgend. I can't believe he didn't have a long career playing in the top flight.

  3. Where the hell did you hear that load of rubbish? That simply isn't true.
  4. Yeah, I saw about 20 of them trying to beat up a very drunk young Oldham lad at the shops near the White Hart. When he didn't fight back (and when a couple of lads rescued him) they gave up and tried to start on a load of other guys who dived into the pub before they got near. Lost track of em after that, they seemed to be heading towards the top of sheepfoot lane trying to fight anyone who was interested.
  5. I quite like this idea, if they did go for corporate hospitality boxes like these, if the price was right I'd try and get a few mates together and book one for the season. My mate has one near the half way line at QPR. It's great as he has beer, wine and a buffet delivered to it in the morning so it's a pretty enjoyable way to spend the day. (Especially the time we beat them 2-1 at their place). Mr Hardy - I think you should look into this. Let's face it, the way the economy is going, that new stand ain't gonna get built any time soon is it?!
  6. Excellent, I'm all signed up and ready to go. It's about time someone set up a lower league fantasy football game.
  7. Hmmm, conveniently there was no time frame mentioned on said European triumph. Therefore if I were living in one of those villages I'd feel confident that it wasn't going to flood for at least 4 years as that's the earliest we could achieve this enormous undertaking. But after that, who knows what could happen - especially once his Ginger Greatness, Sir Paul Scholes joins to conduct our midfield.
  8. Very good call. As you say, he made his debut in that game (Ernie for England!) and played for both clubs so I can't think of anything more appropriate other than every year, the proceeds from the game should go to a cancer charity.
  9. 100K wouldn't get his signature - no way. If it was £500k I could see them taking that offer seriously. All sounds like a load of bull to me.
  10. Why are all our choices for entrance music so awful? Surely we could have gone with some a bit more modern? At least we have the token jesture of the White Stripes in the goal celebration selection.
  11. Jonesy - That clip in your signature is pure class. I can't stop watching it.
  12. If according to the Burnley fan, Andy has a "footballing brain" and is a "great passer" of the ball, (Niether of which I remember as being facets of his game in the past though..... ), then couldn't he fit the requirements of a play making experienced midfielder that we are looking for? John Sheridan did exactly this job for us for a few years. Like Andy, his legs and fitness had gone so he just commanded the centre circle and directed play from there. Could Andy Cole do this job for us instead until Scholesy finally comes to his senses, gives up the £50k+ a week he's on and signs for us? Just a thought. Surely we can't be looking to sign him as a forward, we have about 6 players in that position already.
  13. This guy and Lee Martin would be 2 impressive signings IMO. It would definitely feel like we were building a promotion chasing team if we managed to land them both and then get a specialist left back. I just hope both these rumours end up being truth and we get them both. So far I've been quietly impressed by the players we have already signed, feels like this could be one of our best seasons for years. For once, we seem to be learning from our mistakes of the past.
  14. Oh damn, I thought this was a thread dedicated to Ting Tings lyrics. I was just about to add; They call me 'hell', They call me 'Stacey', They call me 'her', They call me 'Jane'................. but there seems little point now.
  15. Striker could be Jordan Robertson maybe? This midfielder, he says played at Old Trafford - not for Man U? Could be someone from a Championship team that played against Man U this season at Old Traford in one of the cups? Just a thought.
  16. The only way he'll be shown the door at Newcsatle is if another club comes along with a big fat cheque for his signature. Personally though, I think he needs banning from football for a couple of years. I just hope the Dabo incident sticks too so he has to serve a longer jail sentence.
  17. Well that's what the Beeb are saying. So that's one of the most popular choices for new recruits that we didn't get then. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...vil/7387775.stm

  19. I don't get this Shez out business. Last season in his first year we get to the play-offs. This year we look like finishing top 10 despite having just about the worst injury list of any team in the football league so I think we've done OK. Surely the guy deserves another season as it seems to me he has us going in the right direction. I mean, how long did it take Joe to get it right eh?! I don't agree with the chopping and changing of managers. We've been doing that for the past 6/7 years and look where it's got us - nowhere. And all this who-har about KK being a terrible signing. We all thought it was a masterstroke when he signed him, I remember reading god knows how many posts saying as much on here. But now of course it was bad management etc etc etc..... Yes we had a terrible start to the season, but we also had a team full of players who had barely played together so it was always going to take time to get it right. Just when he did though, they all started to get injurred. So I think we've done well considering. I'm not a "Shez worshiper" by any stretch, I just think so far he's done decent enough and should be given more time. Unless big Joe wants his old job back that is.
  20. You've got to look out for number 1. Sounds like we didn't want to give him a full deal for next year (or we did but he can get more elsewhere). Shame though, he's a good player and would have been good to have him down the left with Taz on the right next year.
  21. Anyone who has actually sat down and talked to any of the TTA expecially Simon Corney would know this is utter rubbish. They spent nearly 18 months trying to buy a "football" club before they bought us, not a property development site. They only came up with the plans for the development after they had bought the club under the advice of Alan Hardy and Sean Jarvis as a way to finance a new stadium build. They are in it for the football and no other reason. I know this because when they first bought the club I was at a corporate event with Simon and he was telling me about how it all came about. It was clear the only thing they were interested in was the football and trying to get Latics into the Championship and higher if they could. Seriously, will people stop posting ill informed shyte like this. Would you rather they just buggered off and left us in the brown sticky stuff? Just pause for a second and think before you post rubbish like this eh?
  22. Erm, I'm sorry but that is just balls. The only team that signed a load of players before Porter and Wellens deserted were Port Vale and Forrest. Port Vale are bottom of the league and Forrest are seriously under performing. Davies, Hughes, Ricketts and Kilkenny at the time were regarded as superb replacements for the departing 2. On paper I don't think we could have got better players in if we had tried. In all honesty, the only one who didn't come off was Ricketts and we shipped him out asap. Shez in!!! I can't believe people want to see the back of him.
  23. I think you only really wanted us to sign him because he has an unpronouncable name. Obviously we need a keeper with an unpronouncable name now Les Pogliathingymabobi has retired so I agree, for this reason only, we should have broke the bank to land this guy.
  24. Hold on a minute, aren't you the same Senor_Coconut who was going off on one on JK about the "travellers" (I understand this is the politically correct term for them) that were camped on a field near you a few years back? What's happened Coco? hahahahahaha.....
