  1. Can't beat a well balanced argument. I wasn't talking politics - I was pointing out that these grants people talk about are merely a partial refund of what we pay in.
  2. An unfortunate term - should have said "ruling party".
  3. I get sick of hearing that we get grants for this, that and the other from the EU. We get nothing!!! We pay in more than we get back. Stop paying into the EU and we can have twice as much money to spend!
  4. Whilst I will agree with not being happy with the league position my club is in at the moment, do you really think abusing Simon Corney will help! Whether you like it or not the guy puts his hand in his pocket every month and subsidises the club. Do you really want to piss him off enough so he may possibly walk away or stop putting money in every month? Where would we be then? - skint and in administration! Yes he does make mistakes but until someone else wants to subsidise our club, we need him.
  5. I've been going to Latics for over 50 years and I have two sons who joined me as soon as they were old enough and are still coming with me (just about) and are now in their 30s.It's hard for them to have the same passion as me because football has changed so much since the premier league was formed and because of the Bosman rule. Clubs can no longer build a team as players move on within 2 to 3 years. It took Joe Royle the best part of 8 years to build his best squad but you saw this team slowly being assembled over the years. The premier league now just soak up young players who never filter down the leagues and if lower clubs find anyone good they disappear to the premier or championship clubs - usually never to be seen again in the majority of cases. All we get left with are a small squad of players and the rest on loan and so we will never see a team being built again. The premier league has taken the soul away from the lower clubs and we're never going to get it back.
  6. Since I've posted the original question I've been told that the main way that Bury get around things is to agree terms with a player and them pay some of it as a signing on fee and then pay a reduced wage.
  7. Thanks for posting that link. I still don't get how they generate enough to meet the criteria
  8. With the number of championship players Bury have signed I am presuming they have a high wage bill. Can anyone tell me how they do it on the gates they get?
  9. Does anyone know if the statutory 14 day cooling off period applies to season tickets?
  10. Well Mr Corney you've finally pushed me over the edge. Would SC have appointed Kelly if he was a supporter of Hamas? I think not. If you appoint Kelly I can not go out of loyalty to my friends who were killed by an IRA bomb. When Kelly goes I will return but never whilst he is there.
  11. I had friends killed by the IRA. They didn't care who they killed, women, children, it didn't matter. This is a matter of principal for me, it's my bridge too far.
  12. I've been a Latics supporter for over 50 years. I've had 3 season tickets every year since 1977. I can not watch my club if they are managed by an IRA supporter. It sickens me to watch murderers like McGuiness governing part of the UK. The IRA are the scum of the earth and I will not set foot in "Boundary Park" whilst Kelly is in charge!!!
  13. Some teams had overlapping fullbacks - we had an overlapping goalie!
  14. Days like this remind me why I love Latics. Battling performance, no stand out man of the match, whole team working hard and wanting a result. Loved it.
