  1. Yeah, good call wasn't it. In years ahead, I won't remember that winning could have made us 10th instead of 12th, but I will remember Peter Clarke coming on up front in his last game, haha. I'll remember this season fondly I think.
  2. He's had injury trouble, the latest requiring an operation on his ankle.
  3. That would be a nice full circle moment after we sold him to Everton in 2016.
  4. That's strange, others in that area have been contacted. That section will host away supporters against smaller clubs next season.
  5. Preston are top of the league and beat us 9(NINE)-1 in the first game of the season, so this will feel especially good for them. Well done lads.
  6. Just had a look to see what Halifax fans are thinking about Saturday. As well as saying they don't think they'll bring many, and being upset about how negatively they set up at Notts County... Apparently they tried to sign Josef Yarney yesterday and he turned them down.
  7. Having two centre midfielders who can mop up the majority of loose balls makes a huge difference to this team. Felt like the defence were put under far less pressure than other games because of this.
  8. Richie Bennett started in our youth and is a Latics fan, get him in!
  9. Latics vs Chester it is. Hanley held on for 50-odd minutes, then the floodgates opened and they let in 4.
  10. Chester (reformed 2010, step 2 of non league) or Hanley (step 4 of non league) at home. They drew 0-0 on Saturday at the Deva.
  11. Click in to the tweet and you can see which are classed as Northern teams l, which we can draw. Like, erm, King's Lynn and St Ives...
  12. Vast majority of his appearances before Scunthorpe were off the bench.
  13. Really smart idea to take an old kit and not just recreate it, but reverse the colours and make something new. The NHL (North American ice hockey) did something similar with every team releasing a "Reverse Retro" jersey, and, yeah, this is in much the same vein. Comparison:
  14. Note: while clubs voted in favour of five usable subs per game in the National League, it did not reach the 75% threshold for the rules to be changed. So it's still maximum 5 subs named on the bench, of which 3 can be used per game..
  15. Home goalie kit is a striking yellow and blue Hummel kits are just class aren't they, bespoke, not over the top, not dull either.
  16. Fair play, it's turned out nice, kit and badge. Seeing as the badge well be with us for a good while, it's a good job it's really classy and timeless, quite impressed tbh.
  17. Festus Arthur (ex-youth) has signed for Hull City from Stockport for an undisclosed fee.
  18. It's been determined that by playing for Barrow against Latics as a trialist in the Lancashire Senior Cup, Chris Taylor is ineligible to play for anyone else until the next transfer window... ouch.
  19. Cadamarteri is manager, but Murray will be interfering and telling him certain players have to, or cannot play from behind the scenes. It's to help youth players prepare for what it will be like in the first team.
  20. Tom Hamer... It's easy to forget how young he is. Yes a good chunk of then have come at a lower level, but he's played twice as many games as Tarky had at the same age. Thinking about it, he shouldn't be wasted on the bench too much. Could easily be his last season with us.
  21. Yep, it's a quandary that was inevitable once we signed Mills. Sign of a good player that can keep forcing himself into the first team again and again, even as a teenager. My first guess is that they'll often play together on the right flank in away games, and scrap over who gets to start in home games.
  22. Aye, it's a Bolton player of 8 and a half year, talking to a Bolton journalist about the circumstances of him leaving Bolton. He's an uncomplicated lad is Wheats, if he didn't want to sign for us, he wouldn't have. Edit: At the risk of becoming a full on fanboy, I can't help but note we continually conceded early in pre-season, and then again tonight. Saturday we were alright, and one David Wheater was playing. Please don't get injured/suspended/other.
  23. Not seen as a backup player, evidently. 8 changes were made, and they were all also missing from the bench, with youth teamers preferred as substitute options.
