you obviously don't remember heartbreak of 1st season of play offs, anyway, this wasn't about the playoffs back then, or eventual promotion. Do you think, as a club & as a team in general, Latics would survive more than 1 season in the championship, I would love to see them go up, but I would hate to see them come straihght back down , that could set the club back years. It would be very hard , due to the demographics of the town, to increase the fanbase dramatically, although I do agree, a promotion is the most likely thing to attract new fans. Then you get the old chestnut of longer term fans complaining about the johnny come latelies & bandwagon jumpers who will turn out if Latics make play-offs, & these could well be the future fans of Latics.

It was the same from 73-74 when we spent the next 18 or so seasons in the old div2, usually in the bottom half, never once threatening promotion until the advent of the play offs. Oldham are a small club, probably to small for a spot in the championship.What do you think would be worst for the club, another couple of seasons challenging in this division, or 1 demoralising season in championship, which is what I fear would be the result of promotion At least it seems they are in & around the play off spots every year under Shez. To be honest, I was very surprised to see so many wanting him out .

That's what I was hoping the SKy 1 would be like, won Rugby League 1 here in Brisbane [beating aussies was sweet] & got the taste for it,picking unknown players, watching them perform & hen trading hem at high price, but the one I am in is just a case of spending your money, then swapping for players who are doing well at no extra cost. Would have entered div 1league but haven't got a clue about most of players in that league other than Oldhams [who I only read about anyway] Anyhoooo, I am 2nd in league & on the up, timing my run well.

Anybody in the skysports league? do any of these other leagues have a system where the values of players go up or down depending on how they perform? this makes it far more interesting but the Sky 1 doesn't & this has allowed less talented coaches to keep pace [ well overtake me actually

Could you post some similar info on Walsall, I know its a long time off, but will be coming to back from Aus in time to catch last couple of games & looking forward to taking Aus partner to a real game. well there will be at least 2 more on the crowd figure from April 3rd onwards, really hope it's to witness a promotion push. Can't wait to show my aussie partner what real football atmosphere is all about[ chavs aside]. Great start from the lads, watched the masters recently & it was amazing watching Ritchie & the lads run around again in Latics shirts & the support was amazing.
