  1. There are no tacticts other than 1. dont lose 2. Get the ball up top ( but not in a footballing way ) Said it was crap after Tuesday and so did many others, others disagred. We will not get out of this league with these lack of tacticts or players who can play in midfield and look after the ball. The way we play is simply not sustainable.
  2. A message board of opinions. We all see things differently, some of us think its dire to watch with no plan or football played at home, with the exception of a few minutes out of 90. Nothing wrong with saying that. Some think thats fine due to our position and where we have come from as a club in recent years, and the recent ownership nightmare. Problem is some believe their opinion is the only one that matters.
  3. I definately didnt say get rid but I was critical of our home peformance, lack of identity and of how woeful it is to watch. At the end of the day we are 5th and luckily we are winning away which has helped our play off position. From what I read and hear, many fans are frustrated at our home tacticts ( or lack of ) and lack of entertainment. Many fans are also saying so be it, pretty much happy that we have Frank and we are in with a chance of promotion no matter how we get there. Nobody is right or wrong, just different opinions and beliefs of how we should be approaching home games. We all want the same outcome and if MM gets is up great and well done. Just hope we can start to play a bit of football at home, if not this season then surely next.
  4. I would love to see an average home display because imo that was well below average. I think the word average is being very kind to the team and MM
  5. We have no identity. I have no idea what our aim is during a game. Other than just kicking the ball there is a severe lack of wide play, balls into the box, link up from midfield to attack and very little quality on the ball. On paper a good point but woeful to watch. In 5th position and we look clueless.
  6. Lets be honest here, if we make the play offs this season, that has to be seen as progress, especially after our start and the DU dibacle. Like it or not we have to trust MM to move this club forward, his past record and experience shows that. Yes his football is direct and as it stands we dont look great playing that way. When we had Norwood and Stones up top you could see it starting to work but without those two we look like we can't play that way. Fondop and Garner are no replacement, they are back up really. Perhaps in the window the players that suit MMs play were not available or we will wait for the summer with the hope we can get in the play offs and then it really is a lottery, they dont always go to form. Yesterday was a missed opportunity to excite a few new and old fans to come back but they just couldn't. And imo Sutton is better playing on the right than anyone I've seen replace him. Get Norwood back fit and that gives us some class up top. No way we even consider a new manager. If we had won yesterday fans would have said they dont mind winning ugly. We have to trust this manager and believe he will make us better with a summer window. Just my opinion.
  7. Well yes those too, we need strength out wide, thats true. Dickenson when fit is a good player, but he's another injury prone player like Gardner.
  8. Much more important areas to upgrade first. RB, midfield and LB cover.
  9. Good post LOF and very hard to argue with. Our improvement is no shock to me, DU was an U23 coach using methods from a manual. MM is a real manager with a wealth of experience and he does say the football itself will show him how good the players are. He has removed 3 of DU's starters, Nuttall, Sutton & Shelton, for various reasons these players are simply not good enough, Sutton has mitigating circumstances here though so a bit of slack required for him imo. Gardener and Mcgahey bring quality to the team, the defence looks very capable but short of depth in the full/wing back positions. So keeping gardner fit is essential or he needs to bring in someone similar with quality on the ball and a threat going forward. But imo we will make the play offs at a canter once we get a bit of momentum and some areas of the squad covered with depth. But as it stands now, 4 points off play offs with over half a season to go, looks very healthy to me.
  10. I agree neither could really play a 352. But in a 442 with ovelapping fullbacks to switch with they should be capable really.
  11. I agree. Fondop is a menace but he is so rash and a bit of a time bomb. Nuttall a better footballer but looks lazy and lethargic, something the fans dont like to see.
  12. This lot wouldnt have the legs but they would keep the ball longer than the current lot
  13. Biggest problem is midfield, need two quality central midfielders because I believe the preferred formation will be 352, lundstram and two others. Also need a RB/RWB. Also cover for Kitching. Thats 4. Dickenson, Green, Hope, Tollit all capable cover and if formation goes 442, Dickenson could play advanced midfielder for me in a 352. Fondop or Nuttall to go.
  14. Perhaps those who work with him daily and know him think he should be picked in CM at this current time. They deffo know more than I do, I presume they know more than you too but you may tell me I am very wrong about that, although you will not want to be antagonistic whilst putting me in my place.
  15. I did also state that I am no fan of his. As I see it, Sheron over Shelton any day, Sheron can be used in various positions, as cover. Yes we could have better but just now its what we have.
  16. Shez never ran much, even when younger but those around him did. Im no lover of Sheron but every team needs a player that does the dirty work most fans dont see.
  17. All abput opinions but mine is that Norwood is a class above any other forward we have. The previous manager would ruin Haaland imo. You play your best eleven, especially if you have aspirations of playoffs as a minimum
  18. Think its easy to just say yes or no without some form of explanation, thats a very black & white approach. Theres absolutely no guarantee the next manager will succeed so its a big decision to just get rid now and start again, saying that the next manager would be adopting a much better placed squad and club than DU did. I am a No all the same but its a very cautious no, merely based on hus negativity.
  19. I want him to succeed as I wish we could just have some stability on the managerial side too, but I dont think he will, I dont believe we should be playing the way we do in games because of his mindset and set up. I hope Im wrong.
  20. Dont post much on here anymore, still enjoy to read the posts and debates tho. I must admit tho I've become quite frustrated at the current situation, and I'm only talking the team and management here because I trust the Royles and the Rothwells have the very best for our club at heart and they will want success just like we do for obvious reasons. But lets focus on the manager here, the team and the reaction of us fans, I include all us fans when I say us fans. The team on paper, budget and in terms of quality should at least be good enough to gain a play off position, once all fit and played in their best positions. Here is the problem I have with the team, I cant pick out our spine, I am basing this on our first 6 games. Apart from Norwood, who would start in any team in this league and probs the two above, in defence its hard to pick who would be the defensive spine, Hobson/ Raglan would be my choice but DU seems stuck on Hogan, I'm not convinced. In midfield I am at a loss, because Sheron and Shelton would not form a spine of any team in our league or above imo. Goalkeeper has to be Norman but the current GK makes me very nervous. How can we adopt a system of play when we dont have the spine of a team to form the team around, this comes down to DU. He wants to play a low block, as you say, In lamens terms I call that letting the other team have the ball and wait for an oportunity to steal it back and quickly break on them, this can only work if you have the quality of player that when we win the ball they can transition into a quick counter attack Sheron & Shelton cant do this, they are poor on the ball so they give it away and our defence ends up under more pressure, not the defences fault if you ask me. Currently gardner is our only central midfielder with and real quality but he's made of chocolate so DU is scared to utilise him too much. And if we play a 433 formation, Nuttall cant play that, he is suited to 442 only with a Norwood, willoughby, reid playing off him. Fondop much better used as a sub, he has proved this many times, he is also very erratic and like on Saturday is capable of letting the team and manager down. Is Lundstrom the answer, we dont know, he had great reviews last season but there will so much expectation on the young lads shoulders when he returns, and Ward too. I genuinely believe we shouldnt be playing to counter attack, I believe we should be in the face of teams from minute 1 and go for goals, I know DU is scared of conceding, why is that, is that because he has no confidence we will score more than the opposition. For me too negative and that is showing in the players. A team in this league with our budget and players should not be sitting back waiting for spells in games. As for the fans, you're always going to get a small, loud minority who will always be heard over the more sensible grown up fans with a bit more sense between their ears. But why fuel them Matt on the so called #, its as childish to respond and get into silly debates with these people, just ignore, do your thing on the podcast and youtube, dont let yasell down by responding at their level. Overall for me give him 10 games, behind the scenes will continue to improve with or without DU, crowds will dwindle and the voices of the minority will be added to if he is allowed too much time. And fine margins, poor refs, crap pitches etc are the same for all teams, no excuses. Improve quickly or go.
  21. He didn't look a very happy man, he was showing his frustrstion with players around him all game and like you said walked straight off at the end. Not sure he's too impressed up to yet.
