  1. I wouldn't say we've been eating at Michelin star restaurant more a greasy spoon with a 1 out of 5 hygiene rating.
  2. No but 5 promotions as a manager does When was the last time we saw a promotion winning team? Atleast half of our fanbase hasn't seen one so I'm not sure we do truly know what one looks like.
  3. Considering the run we went on at the end of the season that's a pretty high approval rating overall. Their does seem overall a lot less appetite for sacking the manager. So while knowone is happy with the way the season finished I think we are more fed up of rinse and repeat. I know some have said that the only reason we shouldn't sack Mellon because of his prior track record I think overall its a compelling one. I do believe him when he says he knows what good looks like.
  4. It's been made pretty clear at the start of this thread that we all unanimously wanted a pretty large clear out. The statement doesn't say we've offered contracts to any of them. So really we are saying we are letting them go. People are looking to just get pissed off for no reason. Perhaps it's just a case of we don't want to broadcast to everyone that we don't rate these players that's why we've no offered them a deal
  5. Bear in mind he also appears to cause trouble wherever he's been I'd imagine there will be a fall out there too. I expect he will pop up on love Island at some point.
  6. I read that as no new offers of new deals being made. A case for Fondop and maybe some of the youngsters who I've not seen but we need to create space on the wage bill, so it's a case of thanks very much and move on. Interesting we don't appear to have offered Jake Foreshaw anything bearing in mind the hype surrounding him 12 months ago.
  7. That's one factor but not the only one. The fact is we didn't get bigger crowds than them, and they have a better side so right now those 2 factors add up to them being a bigger deal than us. If you are a player and you are getting an offer from Oldham and Chesterfield this summer you are picking them. I'd say we are bigger club than a number of those in L2 though as our crowds and history trump the likes of Barrow and Harrogate. Not that any of it matters anyway. The likes of Wealdstone and Fylde couldn't give a shit that we were good 30 years ago. I'd rather hope I get to say I support the smallest club in the Premier league again one day.
  8. But Chesterfield are getting bigger crowds than us Bournemouth aren't getting bigger crowds than Leeds
  9. Interms of turning upto games and believing success can still happen yes we are incredibly patient. Are we patient enough with those tasked with delivering success then I think that's debatable. The downward trajectory of the club ended in 2022. We've not progessed in the way we should of done on the pitch but we are no longer declining. It's not been a good end to the season but the problems are very fixable we know what "toxic" and "rotten to the core" look like and this isn't it. I don't think their is anything wrong to have been expecting a promotion push this season it was a very realistic aim at thecstart of the season, we can and should be expecting one next season too. However aslong as we don't lose sight of the fact that we don't have the divine right to steamroller anyone in this league even if our history is far richer than theirs.
  10. They get bigger crowds, have a better team, and now play in a higher division right now they are a bigger club. But these things swing one way and then the other, so I wouldn't be surprised if we overtake them again in the near future.
  11. Yeah, yeah it did yeah that was cruel. But I took consolation in the fact that Mark Robbins was on the end of it.
  12. Look at the teams around us in the top 7 even if we had reduced the budget by 20% we would still have a top 7 budget this season I don't think we will drop it by that much. We are going to lose the efl money yes but the mothballing of the academy will offset alot of that. So I don't think we are going to see a drastic drop in the actual budget it will be very competitive for this level.
  13. So you'd actually prefer the main stand moaners than actual professional manager running the club?
  14. Exactly why oh why oh do we employ people when we've got ready made tactical wizards sat in the stands who could tell us all we need to know gErrItForWaRd!!
  15. I'm tempted to agree that telling people with such a simplistic view of football too F-off is a valid response. Tell you what I'd never thought of sticking a striker on thanks for the insight. I wonder what pearls of wisdom came out of this person's mouth. GERRIITFORWARD!
  16. It always amazes me that people pay much attention to the post match interviews I mean we've gone what 1 win in 14? Whatever he says in the post match isn't going to change that. He's got to go back in the dressing room and lift the players after that because some of them(quite a few of them in our case) he will need next season so he's got to be careful about throwing them under the bus but he can't turn round and say everything is amazing because clearly it isn't and the fans will thi k he's taking the piss out of them.
  17. Peter Clarke who doesn't want to be a manager would definitely come in definitely wave a magic wand and all will be well. If the players started winning they definitely won't revert to type like they have for the last 2 managers infact we'd never lose again.
  18. Let's just see what happens in the summer first their is a very good chance we could be much stronger come Aug 24 but it will probably take longer to get it to exactly where we want it to be. Don't write off next season just yet.
  19. Yes. It doesn't mean that we can't or won't challenge I think we will challenge for promotion next season but interms of getting all the wastage out of the squad and getting it to where we want to be it will take us atleast another 12 months, but I do believe the team we have can and probably will look very different come August it will be unrecognisable by Aug 25.
  20. Dare I say this but regardless of who is in charge next season we are at the start of a 2 year plan to transform the squad?
  21. Yeah we've seen that one before though haven't we. They will suddenly turn into world beaters.
  22. No it's not going to be easy your right getting them off the books and it won't be as simple as them going somewhereelse for a third of the pay or us paying them up in full. I'm hoping their appetite to move will have changed after 4 months of idle time. If as in a hypothetical scenario like you suggest we have someone on £900 a week and we have someone come in and offer £300 a week then maybe it would be best if we say you can go we pay them £600 a week for the next 12 months with the proviso that they can't play against us then that might be a deal we have to take save £300 a week and get an unproductive player out the door. It's those types of things we might have to consider. If you do that for 4 players you can save enough for 1 player who might male a big difference to us.
