  1. You'd far rather have Cads than a lot of the others!
  2. It was a poor following from us, but £37 for the cheapest ticket including add ons, before you've considered transport to London, food and drink for the day was never going to entice many of our floating supporters, especially when we were in a final only last season. Absolutely gutted for those who didn't make it because of the crash. Apparently it was those who diverted to the A1 who got caught in another jam. I know it's mainly down to bad luck, but it's another question mark as to why we both had to trek down to London. Anyway, what a brilliant day. The match was tight and of low quality, of the few chances there were, the majority were ours, so think we just about deserved it... Thought we'd thrown it away with our first three penalties though! I'm sure our paths will cross again before too long!
  3. Was drawn to this by a post on DATM. Could see him signing for you. He rejected a new contract from us, because we'd factored in a cut to his wages if we stayed down, as we'll have to make cutbacks if we lose on Saturday to stick within the FFP rules. When we first signed him he was superb, since then he's steadily declined. There was a bit of a cheer went round the ground when Grayson subbed him off during his first couple of games at Town, not because Roberts is a terrible player, but because he's been a mainstay in an underachieving side for too long. Overall, nowadays he's still fairly effective, but atrocious to watch; can't help but feel a new start would do him good though. In terms of your previous signings from us, he's more skillful than any of them, but doesn't really have the heart of a Holdsworth or a Worthington. Hopefully if he's been spotted coming out of your place, that means he's not in the equation for Saturday!
  4. Hope it is Grayson now. I think Dickov is decent, but I don't think he's the right man for us, or that we are the right job for him. Or Di Matteo, but he doesn't even feature on the SkyBet odds.
  5. Fair enough, but Deano has given him a pretty much endless stream of cash, and if he feels short changed, he has the right to make a change.
  6. Really? I've been one of the few defending him to the group I go to matches with, but even I have lost patience recently. We may have lost very few games, but we're more concerned with not losing than going for a win. I maybe wouldn't have fired the trigger just yet, but everyone I go to matches with is delighted. I would have probably waited until automatic promotion looked as remote points wise, as it does on the pitch, as Clark would be a liability in the Play Off's knowing he had to win them to save his job. I thought Warnock would be unrealistic, but he's joint favourite, which suggests he's perhaps a realistic target. If so, I would be absolutely over the moon with him!
  7. I quite like it on here. You talk about us more than on DATM. Have no idea why I signed up, as I'm not the type of person that signs up to opposition boards, but I quite like popping on here every now and again. The banter's normally good, and the majority of your fans seem like good, normal football fans. Couldn't tell you. He used to do loads of them, but has since only really done them for bigger matches. He doesn't just do them for victories though, so have a look and you might find one or two reports of you beating us.
  8. So the usual suspects are now accusing us of having glory hunting fans? Quite ironic that I get told how :censored: we are every time I come on here, but we've apparently attracted a load more fans from Leeds(?!) since we stopped being :censored:?! Glad the majority saw through it and enjoyed the tongue in cheek humour. He's brilliant. My personal favourite is the Barnsley Mr. Men report, well worth a read!
  9. I'm sorry you had a visit from one of our WUMs, and I guess that a lot of animosity stems from that, but some of the stuff in this thread is as laughable. Last season we played each other at a similar time, and I got told there wasn't a chance in hell we would make the Play Offs. Also, a lot of your fans were saying they wouldn't bother watching their side if they started to resort to Alan Lee tactics, so not sure if any of them have stopped watching, after a neutral newspaper even commented on your players going down! As for all the money, not achieving anything and all that. I'm not all that fussed. Last year was my best year watching football; Alan Lee scoring at Arsenal, Kay's winning penalty versus Bournemouth and Rhodes' 97th minute equaliser at Hillsborough, all absolutely magical moments... in the five years before we got Clark, I don't think I had so many magical moments in total! Yes, I'd love to go up, mainly so that home games don't involve us playing against sides with eleven men behind the ball every week, but I go to matches to enjoy them, and for all we haven't achieved, I've been looking forward to matches for the past couple of years, whereas before that I was thoroughly disillusioned.
  10. He makes jokes at the expense of the away team every week. Most sides just lap it up and take it in the spirit it's meant in. Of course we've had a couple of oversensitive souls from other clubs complain, but that's life. If you honestly want to take it further, I'd give your head a shake before doing so.
  11. Not quite a one man team, but if you take his goals out of our side, we'd struggle to overhaul the other sides going for automatic promotion. Reckon we'd still make the Play Offs as we've got a decent side, but we wouldn't be anywhere near clinical enough without him. Clark's actually been really good for him. Rhodes has always been a great goalscorer but he was too often bullied out of games, particularly away from home. Last season we adopted a 433/451 formation away from home, which worked wonders, but Rhodes' all round game wasn't good enough to play as the lone striker. Clearly over the summer Rhodes was told what he needed to do to force his way into the side, and is now fitter, stronger and his all round game is getting up to the standards of his goalscoring. The reason he's so prolific this season is firstly because we can afford to have him in the side, as he's an asset even when he doesn't score. More minutes on the pitch means more goals. And secondly, because he's much stronger and fitter than he was, meaning he can make the most of chances he would have previously struggled with. Add that to a player who was averaging a goal every other game whilst he was developing, and you're doing alright. Clark gets criticised for the way he's handled certain players (Ward, McDermott, Theo Robinson...), but he's been brilliant for the likes of Pilkington, Peltier and Rhodes.
  12. To reiterate the above, I go to most home games and a few away and I think I've seen Simpson play once.
  13. As I said on the last page, all big money offers are fairly obsolete to us now that the spending cap is coming in, as apparently incoming transfer fees aren't included. So the only financial benefit to us of selling him is that his wage is off our books. There is absolutely no incentive for us to sell. He really doesn't seem the type to push through his own move. I'm predicting that we'll manage to hold onto him and then he'll get injured during our first game in February; we'll have no chance of automatic without him!
  14. Yeah I wasn't a fan of that post either, don't think any of it was said maliciously though. Just some unenlightened people putting across their opinions. If you start telling them they can't say it, they'll just come out with "political correctness gone mad" and all that kind of thing, so best thing to do is just argue with them and show them to be the ignorant indiduals they are.
  15. We're not looking for anything, he's not for sale in this window. Our chairman's said he's not going, our manager's said he's not going and Rhodes has said he's not going. West Ham enquired, and Allardyce confirmed they were met with an absolute no.
