  1. Byrne was a knob, end of, didn't actual do much once he signed last season did he, let's just forget him and move on please. All this chat that we would be top of the league if we were playing him is just plain childish twaddle. Football is a team game, best played with a good team spirit
  2. I thought Gardner played some rather risky balls in defence, he can over complicate things at times, maybe there is no one working off him, he played three very loose balls in the first half when he could have played a simple clearance, he's far better when he's farther up field, other than that he played very well. Surridge in the opening 15 minutes showed some great pace and they didn't know how to handle him, he will be a very good player. Miller when fully match fit will be a beast in this division. Iverson again is a very promising goalkeeper, his main weakness being distribution ( Jonny spoiled us last season for distribution ). Overhaul a better game then of late against a very poor team, perhaps the worst team that I've seen in many a year!
  3. That would be the correct stand for most of the posters on here the ' Bell End Stand'.
  4. Firstly I must point out that I don't like Banks as a player, and we have better options, but I do think he is directly suffering from lack of confidence caused by the fans reaction to him, yes he rarely tackles and doesn't offer any defence qualities at all, fails to track back effectively without looking like a liability, but he can ( sometimes ) create a telling pass. I feel sorry for the lad, no one goes onto the field to look a complete arse. We are Latics and we must have a boo boy, we always have had one and always will....
  5. The best view of the none penalty https://www.theposh.com/news/2017/september/aaa-oldham/ . This should be sent to the league...
  6. My whipping boy so far this season as got to be Gerrard, his clearance for the first goal, when he had all the time in the world to put it out for a throw in but sliced it out for corner. We have two decent young centre half's in Stott and Edmunson who have better pace then Anthony, Even Clarky not been on top form so far this season. Shez seems to be panicking under pressure in his playing players out of position their natural positions, it's not the time to experiment! I was impressed with Gyamfi and Garner on their first showing, Ryan McLaughlin as been the stand out performer so far this season, Fawns looks promising, Holloway as a least put the effort in and generally put a shift in al be it a bit aimless. Now, when it comes to Banks, words fail me, a complete waste of a shirt, no balls, no bite, no passion and no idea ( o.k. I did have some words ). Flynn not much better. At least with Fane in mid field we have a bit of bite and passion though he is a little raw but I think he will develop with time. I've been following Latics for 46 years and I've seen both great teams and some shit teams and this team and it's make up is bordering on the shit team ( or is that to kind )! Thankfully there is a long way to go this season, but if it doesn't change this might be my last, I can think of better things to do with time and money, I put more effort in walking to the ground then some players do on the pitch.
  7. Don't forget that Sheepfoot Lane is closed at the junction with Rochdale Road if your going tonight....
  8. Yorkshire Post Oldham turn down Peacock Farrell.. Maybe a little smoke here regarding Connor..... http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/leeds-united-oldham-turn-down-peacock-farrell-loan-option-1-8654938
  9. Baxter's a big liability, once a coke head always a coke head.
  10. I can't see where all the anti Erwin comments come from, the lad worked is balls off and put a real shift in, my man of the match, Ngoo far better player than most think on here, actually he has very good feet and caused them assorts of problems when he came on. Defence seemed comfortable only one of their many corners caused us a problem. I thought the ref was very lenient with the Charlton players, their No. 15 ( Konsa ) a right little mouthy, irritating bastard.
  11. To me the game changed when O'Neill was pushed forward early in the second half for a 10 to 15 minute spell, his speed and play in that spell was outstanding, when 3-1 up we sat back and let them come at us, our defence through out the game looked fragile ( surprisingly ) Gerrard to me looked a liability, lacks match fitness and seems to be on a very short fuse at the moment. Brian Wilson seemed to struggle as a full back in the second half and was ripped to pieces several times, he needed support and didn't seem to get it. Overall to very poor teams, trying to play pub football ( no insult to pub football ) on a poor Sunday league pitch, we could easily have been 1-3 down at half time through failure to close players down. Players who put a shift in:- Ripley, Clarke, O'Neill, McLaughlin ( very good goal ), Holloway, Flynn to some extent, the rest very so so ( being polite ).
  12. Can we have a wipe round for a new chair (pun ).
  13. Where ever there is money there will be corruption, be it in business, sport or political life it's human nature ( greed ), the higher up the grease pole the bigger the greed. There is so much money awash in the premiership one would expect that there is a few corrupt practices taking place, we won't be talking about 5 grand here.
  14. Rome wasn't built in a day, we must not expect to much early doors, but we must stand firmly behind the management team, we as Oldham supporters can be a pretty negative lot to say the least! The time now is to be positive and believe...
  15. Disgraceful post, Tony is a brilliant servant of our club and is also a perfect gentleman and will always take the time to talk to any fan, please respect what he has done for our club over a long period of time. Being a football manager is rather an unstable and possibly a very short career path and if you are a family man may not be the wisest choice.
