Don’t recall this conversation but I believe from messages I’ve received from the account and others fans where the account has made reference to comments made directly to me and others previously by Barry that I believe it is him. As I believe DiggleBlue is him on here.

Interesting. Just a sad old man looking from the outside in now. Like the Beatles song he's the fool on the hill.

Sorry Adam, it was with Will that I had the conversation with. We both looked at the tweets from the fake Barry account and ones from Birkett at the time. Where the wording and language looked very similar. Especially regarding the subject matter they were spouting about at the time.

Is this actually Barry Owen on twitter?

He jumps on Frank & the board and gives them dogs abuse at every given opportunity.

He’s currently giving it large regarding the lack of under soil heating and how it was on the agenda under the Lemmies.

Christ……They couldn’t even maintain the pitch properly!!!!

Its complete diatribe and whether it’s him or not he wants removing pronto!!

It's not Barry. I had this discussion on Twitter a few months ago with some of the PTB lads and others. I believe it's Birkett or Multiple Account Mick Malpas. But I ended up leaning towards Birkett. Because of similar language and grammar in the tweets, along with reaction between accounts.

Just back from the game. Another £150 down the swanny, gluten for punishment.
Nothing to add on the game, it’s all been said already.
Was stood 2m from Frank throughout the game, and had a calm chat with him at HT and FT. It’s been widely spoken about what he said about paying his wages etc, and I agree with the vast majority that he shouldn’t be saying that, especially when we’re 2-0 down before HT away at Bromley, as that rightly pisses people off.
He was one of the last to leave at FT and made time for all the fans who came to him. There was no bitterness or animosity towards him at all, and almost everyone shook his hand, thanked him for what he had done and told him it’s time for DU to go, he took shook hands, asked people their names and thanked them for coming. He was 100% taken aback by some of the comments made to him, and whilst i’m not saying he’s changed his mind, he absolutely knows the majority of fans standpoint on this.
People rightly pointing out about 1000-1500 home fans leaving already, and we are 22nd (net 23rd) with this level of backing etc.

Couple of direct quotes from Frank at FT:

”I didn’t realise just how unpopular he was”

”We lost last season 3-0 to Bromley, spent a load of money, and lost 3-0 again”

He may well have been naive enough to think it was a vocal minority who shout for him to go, and hurl abuse, but after today, mark my words he knows the fans opinion!

I was one of those who respectfully asked him later on in the second half, what is the plan and what are our targets this season? He couldn't answer me and I know I kind of put him on the spot, I did tell him I appreciated what him and his family have done. I felt terrible for him, because he looked absolutely gutted. As I said on Twitter he was hurting a lot more today than anybody else. The club needs to do something very soon. Because even the most patient and those that have seen it all are now starting to turn. Don't give Unsworth 2 more games, put him and us out of our misery. Also it looked as though the players had downed tools too. Get him gone!

  5. Did anyone at the match try to put the counter point to Frank after his Unsworth loves the club speech, on why Unsworth is not working? Did anyone actually hear him say he's is not going anywhere? Also I didn't think the performance was bad we showed more intent to attack than before and we were more further forward in our style of play. I do think Liam Hogan is a liability despite the goal. There's a reason why Stockport let him go and we are now seeing it. The first choice centrebacks need to be Hobson and Raglan with Sutton as backup.

no we are shit and have been for 30 years but Franks got a plan so lets trust him

I don't like Unsworths tactics, team selection or style of play. Do I think he'll take us forward to promotion? Absolutely not. But I trust the process that the owners and board have in place. I do believe Unsworth has helped put in place a structure on the playing and coaching side of things that we didn't have before, in order for us to go forward. So that it will be easier for the next manager to take the club forward. Trust the process!

  7. Depends on the boards ambitions for this season. If as per Norwood it's automatic promotion, then Unsworth gets 3 more games. If it's to scrape into the playoffs, then he has the first 10 games of this season. The biggest frustration for me is for all the progress being made off the pitch, is at risk of being ruined by the lack of progress on the pitch. I am not seeing any real progress under Unsworth and he's been backed by the Rothwells. My concern is their investment is being wasted by the coaching and management methods of Unsworth. Also the role of the recruitment department has to come into question, regarding a disconnect between them and Unsworth.

  8. 1 hour ago, Steve_R said:

Does he get the final say though? Apparently it’s a joint decision from the recruitment department, of which Unsworth is just a part of and holds no more sway than anyone else. That’s what that guy off the podcast who knows everything keeps telling us anyway.

That could be the case. But my point was that the days of the manager overseeing everything regarding the playing side are in the past at a lot of football clubs in the UK. Including ours. They either go with the continental model of running a football club or use a lot of ideas from North American sports.

And the fella who wouldn't give him a chance is in charge of next seasons transfer budget, wouldn't trust him with ten bob of anyones money.

It just reaffirms my belief that Dullsworth coaches football ability out of players in favour of ultra defensive turgid shite, makes me laugh reading Dullsworth claim we are going to be playing total football next season, totally shite football more like.

I am not a Unsworth fan. But I am going to have to correct you on this. The board and the recruitment team will be in charge of the budget, such is the modern game. The main contribution Unsworth will have is identifying the positions that we need better players for. It's like this at a lot of clubs now a days. That's what Mo should of been doing in his role as sporting director instead of destroying the club. Unsworth will get the final say on whether a player can join, once recruitment team have identified those players that fit the position and budget.

Loved that shirt, the badge was very Barcelona-esk,

You'll have to pay alot more than a pony to get an original one nowadays 😉

I have the original and still wears well. I got that back in 96. I narrowly missed out on the green away shirt for that season in an EBAY auction. To someone who then put it on for sale on their retro jersey site for an extra £80. Oh well. But I still really like the hoop shirt.

I hate the clamour for Andy Ritchie every time we have a managerial vacancy..WHY? - although to be fair, I think this may have calmed down a bit over the last couple of times we've had a vacancy.

Don't know whether it's the fact that he hadn't managed for so long or, for a period of time, every time I heard him on the TV or Radio he was so far up Leeds United's arse?

Anyway, glad I've got that off my chest.

The clamour for Ian Dowie to be manager too.

Roger Moore was too old to play Bond,

Creepy if you ask me, although I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for 'The spy who loved me'

Have to say that The last Bond has turned out to be the best of all and he's a short arse,

Loved all the original star wars.

Back to kits, we could just say sod it and go Green Bovis for old times sake 🤢

I get your point about him being old and a bit creepy towards the end of his time. Especially a 'View to a kill'. My favourite of his was 'Live and let die' and 'Man with the golden gun'. Although special mention for 'Moonraker' best bond girl name ever. Daniel Craig was a good bond. Back to kits l used to call that the bogey green kit.

1st kit has to be Blue and white without question

    With Tangerine and Blue Away.

Definitely no RED near anything! Sorry Canada 😉

No worries, it's almost like who's your favourite James Bond based on who you grew up with or favourite Star Wars movies. If anyone is interested it's Roger Moore and Empire Strikes Back.

I have another one,  the term Club Legend is used far too loosely.

Hahahaha. This is fun. It's like having therapy.

I want to add how much I detest that minority of people who criticise Joe Royle's record by citing that little cameo he did as a favour to see the season out, ignoring the most wonderfully glorious years in the club's history.

I really hesitate with this one, as I'm in a very small minority, but I hate all tangerine kits. I hate tangerine. I had a retro one. I looked like a giant satsuma. I actually prefer the all blue and all red (yes, red) kits of the early 1990s. We love tangerine - not we don't, most do, but not everyone.....

okay, I'll get my coat now.

I with you on the preference of kits. I don't mind the tangerine or the blue & white variations. But my favourite kits and for me latics will always be associate with Blue and Red. I grew up on it. That for me is latics.

I'd add Green to that. Was good again today when given the ball. Kitching is a good player as well, not getting a better LB than him. Sheron missing off your list as well?

I umed and ard about Kitching. He would be for me close to the starting 11 but not all the time, he faded in the second half. As for Green he had cracking first half but faded second half, that was more down to the lack of service to him. I'd have him as in around the starting 11 but not a regular. I would have disagree about Sheron squad player at best. We need a proper no nonsense defensive midfielder. I hope the priority of those 9 target's are a proper right back and defensive midfielder. Definitely someone with a long throw. I am now for giving Unsworth the summer squad build, preseason and probably the first 10-15 games.
