  1. I think the fault lies fairly and squarely with the defence. Perhaps bring Fane back into midfield to provide a bit more tackling, other than that I like Gardner, Byrne and Bryan, don't know who I'd leave out. Playing 3 at the back only works if the wing backs can be decent full backs as well, but too many times Edmundson and Gerrard are being exposed on the flanks. Time to try to get some stability and play a back four in my opinion. Brian Wilson must come into the reckoning, and maybe Rob Hunt. Leave Gerrard out for a while and possibly Edmundson too. Felt sorry for Shez in his post match interview, he needs to be tougher with those that aren't pulling their weight. Looks like he realises that now, but it may be too late for him. COYB!!
  2. There must be a reason why Shez didn't do the pre match interview or the post match one. IMO some of these players have been forced on him through the new investment. He said that he needed 5 or 6 new players and that's what he's got, but every manager wants to bring his own choices in not someone else's. Also, why did he dash down the tunnel at the end of the game without shaking hands with the opposing manager and bench? i think his days are numbered to be honest. If we are to have a new majority shareholder then they usually want to appoint their own manager, unless the team is already near the top of the league. We are bottom so it would be a decision that could be justified by any new owner. Personally I hope he stays and the new investment enables us to keep the successful loanees come January, but it looks like all is not well behind the scenes. What does anyone else think??
  3. I'm not necessarily saying that Corney would sack him but if Shez is 'banging heads' with him, wanting more funds when there aren't any, then he'll probably walk.
  4. A manager playing brinkmanship with his chairman usually only has one outcome in the long run ........... taxi for Shez!!!
  5. IMO the midfield has been terrible so far. Green looked tired against Oxford, Banks couldn't get into the game, and Fane did his usual 'spoiling', but if Fane is the best we've got in midfield - he got the Star Man in the Chron for that match - it just illustrates how poor we are. As much as he can be effective occasionally he should be nowhere near catching an Oldham Athletic team. At the back we look laboured. The defence that was so miserly at conceding goals last season seems to have gone. We look too slow at centre back, Clarke is worth his place any day of the week but Gerrard is looking REALLY slow. It's ok winning defensive headers but if anyone runs at him he's lost. Need to give Edmundson and Stott games alongside Clarke. Up front someone needs to remind Amadi-Holloway that he's allowed to have a shot, it's part of being a striker!! He looks like he thinks all his job is is to bring the ball down and lay it off. Having a shot doesn't seem to be in his thinking! i think Davies will get us goals, he looks keen and at least he will have a shot if he gets an opportunity, unfortunately he's not getting many opportunities. I think McLaughlin, Obadeyi and the new Belgian lad could provide lots of chances for the strikers, providing we've got players in midfield who can do the defensive stuff. Gardner will be an interesting addition. I don't know much about him but I hope he's a 'Richie Wellens' type because that's what we need.
  6. To be fair they'll probably double his wages. Doesn't necessarily mean that he's not committed to the cause. He's looked pretty committed to me all season so far. The club don't need to entertain any approaches though, it's not like we are mid table and safe. Let him go at the end of the season if he really wants to go, but we need players like him right now.
  7. If this move does go ahead can anyone tell me the logic behind selling the captain and - along with Ripley - one of the most consistent and reliable performers this season? It would be a ridiculous decision and any approach should be dismissed out of hand.
  8. But then when the odd cross goes flashing across goal and the strikers aren't there to get on the end then that just shows that the strikers don't have the goalscoring instinct that any self respecting striker needs. Have a look at the goalscoring records of any of the forwards and McKay apart they are pretty abysmal, that's why they are playing where they are and why they were available to us at such a late stage in the pre-season. The midfielders don't help either, Flynn might have the odd goal in him, and maybe Winchester, but McLaughlin, Fane, Green and Croft won't score. In fact we'll be lucky to get 10 goals from midfield all season.
  9. I couldn't agree more. If we were losing matches 5-4 or 4-3 at least we could say that we just need to tighten things up at the back, but this style of play and the woeful strikers and attacking midfielders mean that once we go one down it's pretty much over. Surely it's obvious to the manager and his assistant that we need to get the ball in the box much more often than we do! It's probably stating the obvious but as well as being the lowest scorers I would think that we also create the least number of chances to score. Wake up Robinson while you are still in a job!!
  10. Seems to me that the manager has always had a 'Northern Ireland' mentality, in as much as he sets the team up to keep it tight and hopefully nick a goal at the other end. The problem with that though is our strikers - and midfielders - are so inept going forward that once we've conceded there's next to no chance of us scoring twice. I don't blame the players too much though because as I've said before, they are playing to their level which is basically League 2. I do blame the manager though for the style of play. We spend far too much time doing pointless passing in our half or around the halfway line, usually ending in a misplaced pass or poor control before we get anywhere near the opposition penalty area. It's boring to watch as we have little or no goal threat! For gods sake get the ball in the box!! At least something might happen. Nothing is going to happen on the halfway line! Down to the managers tactics and instructions I'd say.
  11. Yesterday's performance was no different than what we've been seeing all season. Lots of huffing and puffing with absolutely no end product! Midfield players devoid of any craft, guile or tackling ability, wide men who just run up blind alleys, strikers who's control is woeful and hardly ever manage to get a shot in. Only the defence (collectively) have performed to anything like a good enough standard this season, and even they let themselves down yesterday. Both goals came from calamitous mistakes, admittedly the second one came from a midfield player rather than a defender but Southend had other opportunities caused by defensive mix-ups. I don't necessarily blame the players though, I think some of them are playing to their level which is basically League 2 or below, which is probably where they will be next season. The gates have a direct impact on the budget that can be spent on players coming in, and we simply do no generate enough income to bring in the quality that we need. The faithful fans will continue to go to games but there simply aren't enough of them. Hopefully if we do go down this season we might be a winning team next year, at least it would be better to watch. But I'm not counting on it!
  12. Thats all well and good but do you see a queue of potential buyers for the club because I don't. I'd say be careful what you wish for. Corney might not have the financial clout to get us going upwards but at least we haven't fallen like Tranmere and Stockport ....... yet. As for experienced managers I'd loved to have seen the list of applicants in recent seasons. IMO we need an experienced manager who's been around the block a bit, can pick out decent players through contacts in the game, but most of all can galvanise a team and make them play with some passion. A Neil Warnock team for instance would never put in a performance like we did at Lincoln, particularly the first half performance.
  13. We are crap! End of!!! And if we go down it will mainly be because we can't score enough goals. I said it at the start of the season and it's still the same now. Of the strikers we have at the club, only McKay came with any sort of goalscoring pedigree and he has struggled all season but at least you can see why the manager took him. As for the rest of them have a look at their scoring records - at any level they've played at - and none of them have anything like a proper strike rate. So why did the management team expect them to bang the goals in? It's ridiculous!!! Add to that midfield players such as Green, Croft, Winchester and Fane who won't score 10 goals between them all season, and it's easy to see why we won't win enough games. It's depressing in its inevitability, and it's boring to watch!! :-(
  14. [Excellent summarisation of the evening. I was there too and I thought it was a really good night. Absolutely no ducking of questions from MM, who I thought came across very well. The manager has a clear vision of what he wants for the club, and I for one hope that he's successful because he is obviously working very very hard. Clarky also spoke very well too. He is what he is, an excellent club man, club captain and a leader both on and off the pitch. Everyone should get behind the club and all the staff. KTF!!

He is what he is, an excellent club man, club captain and a leader both on and off the pitch. Everyone should get behind the club and all the staff. KTF!!] Meet the manager tonight some points. Wants to bring youth through likes the progress of Edmundson, Mantack and Stott on loan. Rates Dylan King thinks others are not ready yet including Brendy Glackin Admits throwing 22 players together was not ideal Went for players he has worked with and some to make up numbers etc 11 v 11 in training Woodland being an example If he was in the same scenario again would do it different. Started looking at potential transfer targets soon as the window shut. Admits some of the players signed have not been at the best. Peter Clarke pointed out about the young players such as Burgess, McLaughlin heads dropping when making mistakes. However they have started to improve and points out he told all the young players to focus and concentrate on what they do best rather than do tricks and stuff they cannot do or give the ball away. Peter Clarke says whatever Flitcroff thought off him does not bother him and basically any player worth a bit of money was basically up for sale at Bury. Still thinks Oldham will finish above Bury and rather be among this group of players. Peter Clarke also said that unless you got bags of cash success happens over time and points out Despite having cash how long Sheff United been in this league for. Robbo also said Winchester is still an important player who needed a kick up the arse. Like Ollie Banks didn't always understand his role but his now training harder long session at the GYM as he virtually had no muscle. Winchester was set to join Swindon and a unnamed club wanted to take him on trial but Robbo sat him down. Has got him working he his 23 still potentially a good player in him. But When he has got into the team been unlucky with injuries. Flynn done more running than any other player wants to play on left wing. Burgess loan will be extended beyond Jan. Transfer embargo won't effect loanees. Clubs know about the scenario, worser case scenario Football will take the cash. Embargo will be lifted. The HMRC bill and wage have been paid on time. Admitted it was not just ticket money for the Embargo being placed. Mentioned as part of the 6 years Sports Direct deal they where suppose to re paint the Chaddy and the words Sports Direct painted on. Not happened yet unsure when. Also part of the deal no rivals clubs stuff such as local sides Man City, Man U merchandise to be sold in club. Exceptions being Barcelona, Real Madrid shirts allowed. Joked until we are same level to call rivals. Was the Referee decision to call the game off on Sat. The Ref spoke very little to grounds man, told Robbo decision was no negotiable, didn't speak with the Posh manager. Club has to pay Posh expenses but nothing to major. Told temperature was 2degrees so need for covers to go on night before Robbo said pitch would be classed as perfect on Old Windsor park. Ant Gerrard been training is a strong face and a loudmouth but is not fit, still has problems with his Calf. Robbo knows people want him wants to make his down decision. He still months behind schedule. Explained set pieces where a Problem mainly the first or second ball. Explained majority of games in the football goals become as a result of set pieces, Was suggested about £100 season tickets used examples of other clubs said he had spoke to Bradford Chief Executive says the deal not as simple as people think. But there working on something for next season. Mentioned Banks and Flynn on two year deals clauses to keep Clarke & McLaughlin. Moisley said that the reason for the Scorebaord delay is because the one they went to purchase didn't impress them. Saw it in shopping centre in Derby. They also felt the one at Bury was to small neither value for money raised by fans. Said he crucified. However on his recent trip to China Simon Corney saw one speaking to the Manufacture, they can cut out the 3rd party at a better cost. He his having A meeting with Corney tomorrow. Robbo felt club has no real structure when he came from basic things such as player meals. All scouting done by him, Barraclough and Nash. Sent Barraclough to Lincoln to Scout tonight. Compared Celtic to lower league Prem Side, Aberdeen to a Championship team, Rangers league one and rest to League 2. Talked about Northern Ireland how he love that atmosphere at Oldham. Talked little about the sectarian divide but how football Now had helped unite fans. Scouting a young lad who's highly rated in Northern Ireland this Friday. With the game being on Monday training changed so suit the game so Weds this week being like a Monday. Moisley said Corney loves the Club wants to sell to right person. Mentioned he wants to stay at the club if bought he rather seek investment then sell. Maybe a trust member who was there can clairfy more on this how it was Explained. The OEC money goes to Brassbank etc Matchdays and football events. Told the OEC in demand with weddings, Christenings and over events. Car Park Money goes to Latics, fan Sinbad asked the question why Corney was not there however Moisley said he will sort one with Corney. Got bit heated as people debated Corney. Robbo does not read social media tells fans remember that players are human he ignores it does not like the comments aimed at his 11 year old son. Says don't let the negative moaners win. other stuff was mentioned am sure others will post on here or correct if any of the points where Mis heard.
  16. Absolutely class defender, playing alongside Kenny Clements they were an excellent centre half pairing, Paul Futcher was an elegant, cultured player in the Richard Jobson mould. His twin brother Ron was not quite as cultured as Paul but was very effective and an excellent goal scorer for us. Rest in peace Paul, a class act
  17. FFS to all the moaners and whingers, stop hiding on here and in this forum and go and take SC up on his offer. Be brave enough to speak to him face to face instead of always sniping on here. Isn't it true what he said about the likes of Doncaster, Notts County, and even worse Stockport and Tranmere? Or is he lying about that too? For the record he wasn't blaming the fans at all. He made it crystal clear that only a small number were insistent on being negative continually and that 99% of supporters were fantastic. To all the armchair experts I say go and have a chat with him, he can hardly turn people away now after his offer in the interview. I'm sure he could enlighten you into just how much hard work goes into running the football club, that is if you are open to listening instead of sticking to your pre-conceived ideas.
  18. As far as I'm concerned he came across very well. I've spoken to him a few times down at Chapel Road and he's always been very open and honest. I'd love to have a long chat with him at BP, not to pick holes in what he says but to get some sort of insight into the daily trials and tribulations of running a football league club. His strongest critics should take him up on his offer, they might learn something if they can be bothered to listen. Anyone can make decisions and criticise from their armchair when not knowing the full facts. Go and speak with him! How many other club owners/chairman offer that sort of access? None that I can think of. Well done SC and keep going.
  19. In order to get a penalty you've either got to get players in the box or the ball in the box. We fail on both counts.
  20. I just hope that the manager has 2 strikers as a massive priority in the January window, but with the Chron talking about a holding midfielder and a centre half as potential targets then I fear he doesn't. The 'goals against' column isn't too bad, so there's not much point in bolstering areas of the team that are working quite well when we have an absolutely woeful strike force! Save the money that we would waste on useless squad players and put it towards decent strikers, without goals we are simply not going to win enough games and relegation will be the end result. Simple!

  22. Yes I do know that we can't sign anyone until January, stating the obvious actually! But in the Chron this week they were talking about a holding midfielder and a centre half. Anthony Gerrard would provide decent cover but for gods sake we need goals otherwise we are in League 2 next season because the current crop of strikers are collectively woeful. End of!!
  23. Why can't the manager see that we desperately need a striker - or 2 if possible!! I'm sick to death of reading or hearing that they've played well on the whole but lost again!! It doesn't matter how good the defence is they will concede the odd goal, but there's no way in the world that we are going to score twice to turn a game round! 9 goals scored in 18 games is embarrassing and makes for very depressing reading, and it's a relegation statistic unless some spark can be found up front. The last thing we need in these circumstances is another holding midfielder or centre half. GOALS WIN GAMES Robinson!!!!!
  24. How about this team? 1. Hallworth 2. Irwin 3. Barlow 5. Barrett 6. Jobson 7. Adams 4. Henry 10. Milligan © 11. Holden 8. Ritchie 9. Bunn Formation 4:4:2 Pick any subs you like from: Rhodes Warhurst Fleming Palmer Redfern Marshall I'm pretty sure they would hammer our current team, even now!! ️️️
