  1. I think he could play just behind the front two. Obviously one of the wide players would have to be sacrificed because we still need Missilou and Gardner in the middle.
  2. I’m like a lot of other people on here, I can’t understand why José isn’t starting more games. If it was purely down to match fitness then why has he started two games already, plus he’s already completed one 90 minutes, surely he can at least do 45 minutes comfortably so why wasn’t he brought on at half time? He only came on when we were 2-0 down and he had an immediate impact. I thought Gardner was good yesterday. Apart from Baxter he is by far our most comfortable player on the ball, in my opinion though he lacks the creativity that Baxter provides and that’s where we suffer as a team. He played a cracking ball over the top for Taylor for the first goal but generally he doesn’t play the killer incisive pass to open up a defence, whereas Baxter has got the capability to do just that, plus José rarely wastes a pass meaning we keep possession longer. Gardner and Baxter together look much better. I thought we did great to keep going till the end yesterday and deserved a draw but before that we did a lot of huffing and puffing with no end result. I can’t believe the match stats saying that we had 18 shots. I must have missed most of them! Onwards and upwards though, we are doing pretty well on the whole. Hopefully we will get even better, especially if Baxter can get more game time.
  3. We are very poor today .... so far. No creativity whatsoever. Only Gardner comfortable on the ball but he’s not creative enough unfortunately.
  4. It’s not so much his ability, it’s more his attitude. You need both really but he can’t seem to see it. I’ve said it before, he needs to grow up quickly if he really wants to be a professional footballer otherwise before he knows it he will be looked on as ‘not worth the hassle’ and he’ll end up back in Ireland.
  5. You don’t have to be playing to get injured. You can get injured in training, ask Fané. Anyway the sooner Byrne goes the better for all concerned. He needs to get his career back on track if he can do, and he’s probably got some growing up to do if he’s serious about being a professional footballer. Could do worse than have a look at his mate Kean Bryan and watch how he conducts himself. He’s moving onwards and upwards, whereas Byrne is stalling and possibly going downwards.
  6. Spot on. Can see him ending up back in Ireland if he doesn’t knuckle down.
  7. So he’s effectively suspended! At least from the first team. That’s what I said!!!
  8. Ok he’s training with the youth team under FB’s management. There’s obviously a reason why he is.
  9. Don’t really understand what you are saying. He’s been suspended under FB’s management. Is it never Byrne's fault?
  10. Lies? He’s been suspended! That decision won’t have been taken lightly. He’s arguably one of Latics’ best assets. He would be in the team if he wasn’t suspended. The guy must be an idiot. I’d love to know why Blackburn cut short his season long loan and why Wigan got rid of him so quickly. I’ve said it before, there’s a common denominator in all of this, and it’s Jack Byrne. He needs to take a good look at himself.
  11. He’s got to fit in with the rest of the team though and what the manager wants. It’s about standards both on and off the field and he just can’t seem to grasp that. He’s his own worst enemy but it will be his career that suffers.
  12. As well as being a top class dickhead, all things considered. ?
  13. Let’s not forget though that in 2016 he joined Blackburn on a season long loan. Blackburn cancelled it in Jan 2017 and sent him back to City. He then joined Wigan on a 3 and half year deal. He lasted 12 months before they sold him to us, and part of that was spent on loan with us. Its been reported that his attitude was poor at both those clubs hence is short times there, and now he finds himself suspended here. The club obviously feel he has stepped out of line enough to warrant suspending him. They know all about his talent, and at his best he’s very good, but to be honest we saw very little of his best post January. Its up to Jack what he makes of his career, he’s got some very good attributes, but he really needs to grow up and grow up quickly otherwise he might be viewed as someone to avoid, and he will probably end up back in Ireland. Change your attitude and knuckle down Jack. It’s up to you ultimately.
  14. I think the more likely scenario is that he’s breached club discipline, he wants to play but he can’t bring himself to apologise, thereby causing an impasse. If that’s the case then it’s him who needs to back down because I can’t see the management team doing.
  15. For the management team to see fit to suspend one of our so called better players then I would suggest it’s the former.
  16. IF - and I accept that’s it’s only if. But if the player is so arrogant to think that he shouldn’t need to apologise to whoever he’s upset, be it the management team, his teammates, or Fane (if he was responsible for the injury), then it really does put FB and AL in an awkward position. Do they back down and let him back into the first team set up? If they do that though what sort of a message does that give to the rest of the squad and the younger players? Is one man bigger than the rest of them just because he thinks he’s a superstar? Its all conjecture of course because we don’t know the whole story. Just for the record I’d love to see Byrne back in the team if he can reproduce the form he had pre-Christmas. After January though I didn’t think he was very good. Its he who needs to fit in with the club ethos though, not the other way around. Dont forget its not the first time that he’s encountered problems at a club. Is it ALWAYS somebody else’s fault?
  17. It’s only a rumour of course but from what I’ve heard he’s refused to even issue a private apology never mind a public one. A lesson in how not to impress your new manager. If that’s the case he’s put the club and the management team in a very awkward position. What are they supposed to do with him? It’s up to him to toe the line.
  18. 19 shots away from home in that match!! Just let that sink in for a second. Compared to hardly an effort on goal away at the mighty FGR. ??
  19. Portsmouth away for me. Best performance I’ve seen from a Latics team for ages. Byrne, Gardner, Fane, Davies and Doyle all first class on the day. Played Pompey off the pitch.
