  1. I don’t feel the need to know the moment it happens. I’m just irritated by all the secrecy on everything. If you’re ok with it then fine. It’s all about opinions. I find it boring and a bit depressing to be honest. My opinion nothing more.
  2. I agree with you that this is the likely scenario, but why doesn’t FB say what’s happened? It’s all clouded in secrecy! I can understand to a degree that he needs to keep certain things under wraps, such as a transfer target that he doesn’t want to alert other clubs to, but all we are talking about is an injured player aren’t we? If he’s been ill and then got a knock on his knee then tell the fans what’s happened. I find the lack of communication from FB a little irritating to be honest. Answering questions with “possibly” and a silly grin will soon start to grate on people. Give the fans a bit of credit, treat them like they should be treated and stop being so guarded all the time.
  3. Yeah I understand what you mean. If that was what he meant though you would have thought that he would have appealed his dismissal. If it was me I would want to clear up any misunderstanding and clear my name at the same time. He could then have left the club with a much higher standing than he’s ended up with.
  4. ‘Go and throw shit at yourself’. Is there a different way of interpreting it??? ?
  5. Give the lad a chance for goodness sake! Is this forum all about criticising?? That’s all that some people are happy doing. I personally think he’s a good signing, he offers something different than the other strikers. He’s a big, strong target man who gets in front of centre-half’s and can hold the ball up and deliver flick ons. Thinking positively maybe he’s had a year out of football, realised how much he’s missed it and how lucky he is to be a professional footballer and now he’s got his mojo back. If so, we will be the beneficiaries of that.
  6. I heard it on good authority that he could have played last week against Preston but they decided to give him another week training/recuperating. The idea being that he will definitely be fit to be in the squad against M.K. Dons. I hope so because we need his creativity if Byrne is still out of the picture.
  7. Dear oh dear. Such a lack of respect for the greatest Latics manager that any of us have ever seen. ?
  8. Good riddance to both of them. Both bad, negative influences in the dressing room. FB and AR are trying to cultivate a team ethic within the club, and everyone needs to be pulling in the same direction. Both of them will be on decent money so perhaps we can get a proven goalscorer in instead of them. Fingers crossed.
  9. Byrne is a difficult one for Bunn. He’s seemingly laid down a strict code of conduct for the players and Byrne has obviously stepped way out of line. Personally I think he’s finished at the club, I think Bunn doesn’t want anybody who can’t fit in with the team ethic and basic rules that the management team have spelt out to the players. Can’t blame him for that. Sets down a marker for all the other players. Could do with getting him off the wage bill ASAP if that’s the case so the money can be put towards a striker. The trouble is though that Byrne is developing such a bad reputation for himself that other clubs might not be willing to take a chance on him.
  10. He was an idiot for playing at Bury when he clearly wasn’t up to it. Sometimes the manager might ask a player to play with a bit of a niggle, it’s then up to the player to decide what he wants to do. At Bury though, it looked like Wellens had no idea that Gerrard was carrying a knock, only the player knew the extent of it. He let the club down badly that day. Not just because he didn’t even last until half time, but because he missed the next FOUR matches. Matches where his experience would have been invaluable. Bad decision and unprofessional in my opinion.
  11. If he’s injured Fane on purpose then he should be out of the club as soon as possible. What does that sort of behaviour do for so called team spirit?!?! Hopefully they will be able to get some sort of fee for him but his reputation within the game must be going down and down so I doubt that there’ll be a queue forming. Maybe someone like Joey Barton might fancy his chances of getting the best out of him. He’s welcome to him as far as I’m concerned. There’s a player in there somewhere - but only when he wants to play and on his terms. I can see him back in Ireland in a couple of years.
  12. Could be yes. You would have thought that FB might have explained why Byrne has been missing from the last few games though. Surely he’d be playing in the run up to the season. Jose has got a knock but there’s been no mention of Byrne being injured. I got the distinct impression at the ‘Meet the Manager’ evening that they will mostly keep everything in house so perhaps that’s why nothing has been said officially about any suspension. I’m sure they’d say if he was injured. All speculation I know, but sometimes there’s no smoke without fire.
  13. If he’s been suspended within the club though because of the tackle it can’t have been viewed as accidental by the management team surely?
  14. Anyone got anymore about whether it was Byrne that broke Fane’s ankle, and whether it has been perceived as accidental or deliberate? Because if it was deliberate we shouldn’t even be having this debate, he should be out of the door.
  15. Sometimes you have to play somewhere for the good of the team. It might - with the benefit of hindsight - not have been a great decision by the manager, but as a player you’ve just got to get on with it, not throw your toys out of the pram because you can’t have your own way. I’ve said it before on here, the world doesn’t revolve around Jack Byrne.
  16. Can you define ‘played permanently’. I don’t think he made an appearance for City, his first ‘permanent’ club. He played 2 games for Wigan (his second ‘permanent’ club) and now Latics where it looks like he’s upset people yet again and will possibly be moved on again. He needs to take a good hard look at himself. I doubt that he will though.
  17. He lasted 2 minutes at Blackburn before they sent him back to City. Moved to Wigan but soon clashed with Paul Cook who was happy to get rid of him. He had run ins with Wellens last season, and now he seems to have upset FB. All of this in 2 years at 3 different clubs. There’s a common denominator here!! Yes he’s undeniably got talent, but talent alone isn’t enough, especially in a team game. Attitude, application and respect are needed too. I don’t know if he’s lacking any of those because I don’t know him, but the fact that he always seems to be upsetting managers probably suggests he is. Having said all of that, I hope he stays because he can be an asset to the team and the club, but he needs to buck up and knuckle down. The world doesn’t revolve around Jack Byrne.
  18. He probably acted like a naughty infant that’s why. Everything has to be worked around him otherwise he throws his toys out of his pram. He misplaces a pass and he blames his teammate for not being there. Gets subbed and his arms go up in the air, shoulders drop and off he trudges, having a go at the manager on the way off. FB and AR want a tight knit group with the emphasis on teamwork. If Byrne isn’t going to fit in its best to let him go now before he becomes a disruptive influence. Get what they can for him, but get rid.
  19. Get rid of him if he won’t toe the line. FB and AR seem to be very keen on team spirit and ‘togetherness’ within the group. Bunn has brought it up a few times in interviews already. If Byrne is going to be a disruptive influence then he needs to go. We need everyone pulling in the right direction.
  20. Does anyone know anything about the Byrne situation? I heard a rumour that he’d refused to train. No idea if it’s true or not though. Maybe he wasn’t enjoying the twice a day training sessions? At the ‘Meet the Manager’ event FB did say that every player had to adhere to a strict code of conduct. If Byrne has stepped out of line so early then it’s good that the management team have acted so quickly. i hope Byrne gets his act together but if he doesn’t then he’ll have to go.
