On the topic of ex-players. What's the best XI of Oldham youth currently still playing that can be made? Have I missed anyone? Better than our current side? Stability, a plan, and possibly even living within your means can do wonders. Didn't check the whole squad but the majority of players wearing shirts 1-11 have been at the club for 2 or more years. One player since 2003. The manager has been there since 2012. With the number of decent players that have come through our youth team over the last 10-20 years, a bit of foresight, planning, and faith in our own players rather than selling them at the first opportunity could have done wonders. Sadly it wasn't meant to be.

I'd be amazed he speaks no English at all if he has been managing in the Middle East for a while.

In England - Chester, the closest club to where I grew up, and despite once being a proud league club they seem to love struggling even more than Latics. Germany - Frankfurt and Wiesbaden, as I've been over to watch their games. Since living in Japan I've moved around a lot so picked up a few sides to look out for... Suzuka Unlimited, closest team to where the wife comes from. Nara Club, the closest team to me at the moment so watch them a lot with a number of other English guys. FC Osaka, a team that might be relocating about 10 minutes from where I live now. Kyoto Sanga, a Japanese friend supports them and I found out they are the only 'biggish' team in my region that didn't used to be the company team of a huge Japanese multinational corporation. A rare 'proper' football club with a long history.

My thoughts exactly. People need to stop caring about the results, league positions, or managers. The problems are deeper than that. We need to return to being a club first and foremost and then worry about the rest.

In my opinion Gardner is excellent but has one big weakness, his final ball. He often wins the ball drives forward only to give an awful final pass or shot. If he sorted that out we’d be on to a winner. The only other negative is he never quite looks fully fit.

I don't think the squad is as bad as people are making out. Sterling and Walker have had a good season at the run away champions and Delph and Stones have played their part too. Henderson is captain of one of the European Cup finalists. Plus you have some good players from United and Tottenham in there too, especially Kane. I doubt we will win it but we have enough quality to give any team a good game. It is pleasing to see some younger players in the squad and no Joe Hart is always a bonus!

I thought this interview was a pretty honest assessment. All I would say about RW is that he should have known what he was getting into so he can't really use the shit situation we are in as the only excuse.

Fine margins this year, too many draws. Look at the table. Portsmouth lost more than us. I felt we've been complacent for a while, thinking we'd always nick that final win we needed at some point but we left it too late. The players and manager should of course shoulder some of the blame but Shez does too for not bringing in a keeper at the start of the season. Placide isn't great but he's ten times as good as those first two clowns we had this year were. For me the relegation is to be expected with the way Corney and TTA had been running the club since they started the cut backs a couple of seasons after Sheridan got us in the play offs. I don't know if AL will be any better? I think off the pitch the club needs to really think about what it wants to be, i.e. put a plan in place. I wouldn't mind what division we were in to be honest if we had some kind of plan. I've said it before but I would like to see us go back to focusing on giving youth a chance, mixed with a few ageing pro's and if if we really have to a few of AL's foreigners to keep him happy.

Finally

I've watched many games this season on iFollow both home and away and I would like to say the atmosphere at BP has been consistently one of the better in the division. A lot of singing, funny shouts and the crowd always seems engaged with the game. I used to think the BP atmosphere wasn't great when I went but I have been pleasantly surprised this season, especially as a lot of the football has been dire. Well done to everyone who makes the effort to get down BP every week.

Make no mistake we were shite but the weather did play a part. It was clear the team kicking towards the RRE was struggling. Pompey had almost all of the play in the first half and we had almost all the play in the second half. The problem being they were 2-0 up by then so were happy to defend in numbers. We didn't have the ability to break them down.

There is a big issue with the quality of balls into the box with this team. We have many crosses in every match, but rarely do they look dangerous or cause problems. I thought we didn't actually play that badly after going two goals down, and two excellent saves and poor finishing kept them in it. That's a huge problem though, if you keep starting so sloppily you will always be struggling. I think the players are really low on confidence, I am not sure how we can turn this around unless we get a few more new players in.

We can’t cross a ball at all this season which doesn’t help things in the final third.

Thought he looked like he had a lot of quality on the ball, just not match fit, same with Pringle.
