  1. Not sure it really says that: "So far three names of coaches from outside of the UK have been linked with the job" "no date has been set for when Oldham Athletic will announce their new head coach but [...] a decision sooner rather than later will be a benefit to the club" Looks like it's just restating the speculation to date.
  2. Ha! How many do I think will be regulars? Hamer, Iacovitti. Maybe Stott. Hunt unless he goes (I assume his wages are high enough there's no point keeping him and not playing him). Maouche, Missilou, Nepomuceno, maybe Branger. Possibly O'Grady. Has de la Paz done enough to be first choice? How many would I like to be regulars? Er, less than that list.
  3. 15 professionals, plus 2 in discussion. (Or is it 14 plus 3? Can't remember if Maouche is under contract.) But yeah, some movement would be nice.
  4. Ex-youth team player Brendy Glackin signs for Portadown.
  5. Farnborough FC (was Farnborough Town), as it's where I grew up, mostly, and saw a good few games those years. Brescia, as I always liked Gheorghe Hagi when he was there. Dunfermline Athletic, as a girl I knew at university was a mad fan of them. St Albans City, as they're the closest side to me now.
  6. Those halcyon days when our forward line was Alessandra, Smalley and Wolfenden, striking fear into the hearts of defenders across the land...
  7. Evina is 27, Alessandra I think 30. Stead probably takes the average age up to about 40 though...
  8. Lewis Alessandra, Cedric Evina, Jon Stead and Dan Jones all released by Notts County.
  9. Interesting. The official site player list has been updated. It's exactly what I was expecting after the retained list was published - except that Sefil isn't listed. Could it be that we've mutually agreed to terminate his contract or paid him off?
  10. Would assume the owner, perhaps after consultation with the then-manager. Kind of assumed it’s been that way for years.
  11. I agree wholeheartedly but suspect they're on prohibitively high wages.
  12. Fane or O'Grady? Some short memories. Forbes Parker Purdie (not his fault, admittedly) Feeney Cassidy ...just from the last 10 years or so.
  13. Where are people getting this information?
  14. It's certainly not a surprise given injuries and form for the first two, and the rumours of a bust-up involving the latter. I'm not too bothered about DG going. I'm not even heartbroken about Baxter going, despite him being the most naturally skilful player on our books, given his injuries and (I assume) high wages. Clarke will be missed. I'm not sure how many years he can keep going at the same standard, but I think he'll be missed nonetheless. What concerns me more is not that these three are going, it's the quality of their replacements.
  15. Oh, is it that time of year already to dig this out again? http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Oldham_Athletic/Oldham_Athletic.htm "Unique identity"? God knows.
  16. Official site confirms Swaby-Neavin and Robinson have signed professional contracts. Presume all the other second year scholars have been released, including Scholes Junior.
  17. Yes, it would be nice (and professional) to have some official word when these things happen.
  18. Just noticed that Fane is also missing. No surprise, but I think he was listed until recently so that might confirm his departure.
  19. Some of the official squad profiles have disappeared. 43 Ewan McFarlane 44 Max Norman 45 Harry Norris
  20. Hmm. Just took a look at the official website and some of the squad profiles have disappeared. 43 Ewan McFarlane 44 Max Norman 45 Harry Norris It's not just that they've removed youth players - Javid Swaby-Neavin, Harry Robinson and Jack Williams are all still listed. I wonder if they've been released?
