  1. I think it's fair to say the strikers created that one for themselves via a ball over the top?
  2. Re Forshaw: we've created one chance - badly fluffed by Nuttall - for 4 strikers in the first 70 mins. Another dire spectacle.
  3. Still no McEleney. Has it been confirmed by the club that he's not fit? When I last looked on the official site he wasn't listed among the first team squad.
  4. Have seen Southend a few times this season - as I'm only a stones thrown from Roots Hall. Brown's signing and use of Robinson has been very shrewd. He turned the recent game against Walsall and I think he gave McLaughlin - who had been decent going forward - problems down the flank after his introduction, McGlashan's introduction also made a difference. As has been said before, we knocked it about well but ran out of ideas/confidence when we got within sight of the goal. We also rarely, if ever, got in behind the full backs and gave ourselves opportunities to pull dangerous balls back into the box. I thought our support was fantastic today - not big on numbers but loads of noise. Met up with some Southend-supporting mates after the match all of whom said we were the most vocal away fans this season. Highlight of the match - that bit of skill and cross from Banks in the first half. My (Southend-born) lads were very impressed.
  5. LB Buchanan more attacking than Eardley. Eardley ok with Wylde busy in front of him for first hour.
  6. Watched a Northampton Town back line including Neal Eardley and Zander Daimond hold Southend Utd to a draw at Roots Hall today. Thought Diamond did well against Fortune and then Ranger (including "taking one for the team" late on). Marc Richards, ex-Tics, good value at this level. Northampton well-organised and a draw a fair result.
  7. Highly recommend it. Fire's lit and am on the Beck's.
  8. Fantastic result and great team performance. Under the pump in the second half only for Dieng to break quickly play it in to Forte who in turn found Main and bang....No real "heart in mouth" moments after that, but Cassidy could and should have wrapped up the points - twice. Great noise from our fans. 194
  9. ...who were comprehensively beaten at Roots Hall yesterday. Gardner barely touched the ball in the 25mins or so he was on the pitch but, to be fair, they were chasing a lost cause by then. Evatt - big, lumbering unit.
