  1. Listening to the Sheff commentary, often try the alternate for a different view (to see what they say about us)
  2. or 'he's WENT around the full back' arghh
  3. Too many people are down today: The atmosphere was great (RRE) Latics were absolutely up for this game from the off It was a very entertaining match Latics played some very good football (partic the first 30 mins or so) We created a hatful of chances so yes, 'it was one of those days' We got to the Northern Final of the cup, let's just accept that that is pretty good I couldn't find too much fault in any of our players last night, they are league one players after all We have a good young manager After the Hartlepool game on Boxing Day we were unrecognisable in comparison. Stop bleating and support your team
  4. Please don't bring the drum in the Chaddy End. Singing, yes, bands and drums, no thanks.
  5. That's only 'cos Swindon have now played and got a 1-1 draw away from home.
  6. Interesting that, one of the comments on the 5live commentary from Pat Nevin was critical of us not making the most of our set pieces (by Simpson) on Friday, when Morais came on and took over he said how much more dangerous we were! I'd still play him before Felipe every time though.
  7. I recall being at Wembley for the semi with United (going back a bit I know), I'd got every man and his dog to go to see what's special about our club. The day for me was spoiled, not by Hughes's equaliser but long before that by a group of idiots effing and blinding and worse all the way through not in support of Latics but in the direction of Manchester United fans, women and children all around them for a great occasion. They were a disgrace and made me ashamed of an element of our fans. My wife won't go now and I am only comfortable getting the kids to come along now they are teenagers. How can we get the next generation along to listen to these idiots? Societies problem not just football's, but why so many yobs?? May be some on here now thinking 'get a life' but there you are. Good topic given the stick we have all given the Liverpool support because of one or two idiots. Rant over.................
  8. I could't get there either and listened on 5live. Really enjoyed there commentary, useful to hear what outsiders think when they haven't seen us play before: 1) they were very impressed with the Diamond/Mvoto centre back pairing (partic Diamond who Pat Nevin had seen in the past). 2) Impressed with Lee despite him being ourclassed by first Bellamy and then Downing 3) Thought Taylor looked a very competent footballer 4) Oddly Wes and Furman didn't get much of a mention but I guess they must have played well? 5) Tom and Scapuzzi mentioned in brief 6) Simpson featured quite well but Kuqi appeared to fade a bit from a good start 7) Cisak not a chance with any of the goals and put in a good performance They also asked how come we are where we are in league one playing like this (I wonder what any Charlton fan listening thought of that given the hammer we got on their message boards just a month or two ago?). Pat Nevin responded saying that we will be inevitably raising our game and playing on excitement and adrenaline to begin with and his worry was that we wouldn't be able to keep going for the full match ~ looks like he got it right. They also commented that we ought to have been ahead even before we scored with three excellent chances - what a differnece that would have made!! Anyway very fair coverage I thought, no bias either way and anyone leitening would have been impressed with the club. Well done PD and co, don't think I have ever felt this way after a 5-1 defeat!!
  9. I now live in Stafford, the nearest ground to me is Stoke City (maybe Wolves). They moved from the Victoria Ground to the Britannia Stadium when in the lower leagues and when it was a quarter full it was a 'soulless' new stadium. Now that it's full every week it has developed a reputatuon as the noisiest ground. My point? Stadiums need supporters to create the atmosphere, no matter how Boundary Park is re-designed it won't be particualrly atmospheric with crowds of 3-6k. It's bound to be more impressive however and a better football 'experience'. Like at Stoke it's only success that will really bring the crowds back, with PD though I think we might well achieve something.
  10. At this level and for 90 minutes on the pitch you could put a strong case for Hughes, he did a very good job for us and he's doing a very goodjob for Notts too. Kuqi has had a great start but is faltering a bit now, he can disappear from games and can become easy to disposess (and his constant narking at the referee is letting him down). That said, we are told he is having a very positive influence behind the scenes. Jury's out perhaps, appreciate a (helluva) lot of baggage comes with Hughes and counts againts him but he certainly gave 100% in every game ~ do we get that from Kuqi? let's wait and see and pass judgement at the end of the season eh? Similar goals to game ratio's I'll bet at this level but I'd say Kuqi is playing with the better team. Despite that Kuqi get's my vote!
  11. if its a new stadium why are they selling tickets form a portacabin?????
  12. Same as Roger Ritchie, Sky+ it, series link, watch Sunday morning. Great programme, pick the matches you want to see, fast forward the rest. I watch all league 1, most of The Championship and the odd League 2 match. Most comprehensive coverage of our leagues we have ever had, needs to stay on.
  13. one of my favourite games, Stainrod was immense that day, knew he'd go onto bigger things. Same result tomorrow will no nicely thank you ~ Josh Parker to open his account.
  14. What's Parkinson done/said for everyone to have a go at him?
  15. I always thought Paul Warhurst was classy when he played at the back, never understood why he didn't go on to great things.
  16. Here's one to think about, which players would you put in your all time favourite back four (not just on pure ability but cos you liked them). RB: Denis Irwin Centre back: John Hurst Centre back: Kenny Clements LB: John Ryan
  17. On the Taylor debate, he probably is due for dropping given the options we have, chances are however that when he is we'll probably understand more about what he is gives the team ~ amazing how many players reputations are enhanced when they are NOT on the pitch, suspect it would be the same re Taylor.
  18. mvoto and clarke, they are on permanent contracts get them a consistent run in the team. Build MVoto's confidence again and we should be fine.
  19. appreciated lads, happy days. Looking forward i don't think we are too far from being a decent outfit again at this level. More of the same please prozac
