  1. We've had plenty of stats on the site over the last couple of weeks but here is a simple at a glance....so far this season!!!!! P W D L F A GD 27 6 8 13 21 34 -13 All competitions home and away. That's just 6 wins and only 21 goals in 27 games. Average home attendance is 4976. This includes a JPT game against Accrington (1619) but is balanced by a promo game against Exeter (6230) Considering we have played Leeds twice, Huddersfield, Stockport and now Tranmere that figure is horrendous and the nearest visiting team until the end of the season is Walsall!!! The 2000 or so Norwch fans will be a bonus but even with that we will be lucky to hit 5000. This should be enough to convince Corney & Co that drastic action is needed.......whether that's the sacking of Penney, a transfer splash, or whatever, something clearly needs to change, and quickly!!!!
  2. I was so bored on Wednesday night I even considered going home at half time and wish I had, just looking around the RRE was enough, the faces on the supporters told me everything, coming to Latics has become a chore and right now I think it is far worse than the Talbot, Moore and Sharp days. I have been offered a free ticket for today's game and still decided to give it a miss, that's how bad I feel. Regardless of Corney's recent backing of the manager another defeat and poor performance today could spell the end for Penney and I for one will have no sympathy whatsoever. I think the Penney out chants will be heard for the first time today, and really, who can blame them. For me this is possibly the most talentless, dissinterested, and negative team I can remember in 50years watching the Latics!! Crowd today?.............3750 with 600 from Millwall. If it was a night match I think there would have been less than 3000!!!!
  3. Already my player of the season by a mile and I shudder to think where we would have been without him.....to think Penney nearly ended his Oldham career!!!!
  4. I don't really think a club in our division needs a 30 man squad and there aren't many players on 2 year contracts never mind 3. Of course I realise the loan system is there to be utilised and due to financial restraints some clubs have to rely on it more than others but unfortunately the majority of loan players have no affinity with the club whatsoever and that's why some fans don't like them.
  5. Shouldn't there be 60 other players to make up your ill-thought out percentage calculation? Quoting DP.....Who mentioned DP? I certainly didn't.......Read the post nesbit!!!! Penney's record, which as you have pointed out is OK. What I did say was, 90% are a waste of time and hardly benefit the club. Look at our loan signings over the last 3 or 4 years and you could probably count on two hands those that have been succesful.
  6. Looks like it just happened......Would you care to reassess!!!!!!
  7. He's had money and he's spent it on Furman and Colbeck....he made wholesale changes in the summer when really he didn't have a clue how good or bad our squad was apart from a little advice from Big Joe. The players he's brought in are certainly no better and possibly worse than we already had....he's signed them all and must be held accountable!! He wanted hungrier and fitter players ( His words!!! )............have we got em? Have we hell!!!! Four or five signings in the summer including a CB and another striker followed by another few adjustments in this window and I think he would have faired much better!!!
  8. ' he was playing for Southport at the time' Christ!!!....I thought you meant he'd come off the pitch for a piss!!!!
  9. I don't want anymore loan players unless it's with a view to a permanent move, enough is enough!!!!!.... 90% of the time they just come to get fit and are a complete waste of money, I would much rather play one of our youngsters, at least then it would give them some valuable experience!!!!
  10. If TTA bail out and we go into administration before the end of the season, by the time the new season starts we will be in Liquidation and -10 points will be the least of our problems!!
  11. The simple truth is that according to the poll his popularity over the last couple of weeks has plummeted alarmingly...........2/3 of fans on this site now want him out!! I haven't heard any 'Penney out' chants as yet but we must be pretty close to it..... another dismal performance on Saturday and I think they will begin!
  12. I would keep Pav and Gregan and maybe Stephens, Jacobsen and Holdsworth, try and get a fee for Taylor while we still can.... as for the rest of em, i really don't care!!!
  13. It's wrong I know but I was half hoping Tranmere would score last night if it lead to the departure of Penney because I just don't think he's capable of keeping us up! I think there needs to be some sort of statement from the club anytime soon. Corney & Co. have been very quiet of late regarding performances on the pitch. We need to know what their thoughts are and if his job is safe or under threat!! Back him or Sack him!!
  14. Quite solid defensively. ( Against a crap Tranmere forward line)
  15. How just the one game can have a massive effect on supporters views!!! In the last poll 2 weeks ago on the subject of Penney's popularity well over 50% of supporters wanted him to stay at the club and over 70% of those until at least the end of the season and now a similar percentage want him out immediately!!!! I reckon that a loss on Saturday coupled with a poor performance could well be his last game! As for his replacement .....I haven't got a clue but as we have little money I think there's a fair chance it would be an internal appointment Duxbury/Philliskirk probably until the end of the season.
  16. I would give him the next two games against Millwall and Brentford to show he has what it takes and 3 points would be the absolute minimum!!!
  17. I just watched Penney's after match report and have to say it's Ronnie Moore all over again. He shows no affinity to this club at all, you would think we were mid-table the way he was talking and he genuinely doesn't look at all bothered about the situation we are in!!! He kept going on about the lack of fitness from both sides and a lack of quality from both sides....who the hell is interested in both sides it's Latics he should be concerned about and nothing more. You would think he is talking about a meaningless end of season game rather than a relegation 6 pointer. If that is the way he talks to the players it's no wonder we are in this mess!!!!! He says we will be up for it on Saturday because millwall is a bigger game....................Oh Really!!!
  18. If they had any brains they would be better footballers!!!!
  19. The result on Saturday and the relegation of this club is minor as to what is really happening...........OAFC is in absolute freefall and if we continue as we are then I think it's very existence as a club is under threat. The crowds are at an all time low and reducing week on week and what little entertainment we had has now completely gone!!!! Last night's performance was once again totally unacceptable and although you have to blame the players who don't seem able to do even the simplest of things, it's the manager who picks the team and amongst other things he is there to organise and motivate the squad but I see absolutely no evidence of this whatsoever!!! I have been out of work since September and really have to be careful with my funds and was in two minds whether to go last night...I decided to go, and yes, I wasted another £20 on the hope that we could finally turn the corner and start to win a few games, how wrong I was!!!!!!....If that is the standard of football we have come to expect at Boundary Park then I want no part of it, and judging by the crowd last night many more supporters obviously feel the same!! Enough is enough and I'm sad to say that is my last game this season and I will not go and be subjected to this shi*e anymore! I have seen some very poor teams here over the years but you can forget Talbot, forget Sharp, forget Wadsworth, and forget Moore, Penney's football team is a joke and without doubt the worst I have ever seen at Boundary Park in 50 years!!!!
  20. Don't think relegation would worry them too much anymore as after the Failsworth move they will be gone anyway!!
  21. We'll be lucky to get 3000 total on Saturday.............Penney's job has to be under threat!!!!
  22. To all you happy clappers where ever you are who keep refering to our games in hand, wake up and smell the coffee........We are a bloody awful team, totally clueless and under the real threat of relegation. We have sacked managers when in the top half of the table so this guy's job has got to be under threat....that was alehouse football again!!! We haven't had a home game in over 4 weeks and only 3000 home fans turn up........people are now voting with their feet in droves and after tonight I've had enough and seriously considering joining them!!!! It was fully 15 minutes before we ventured into their penalty area and 31 minutes before we had our first shot on goal!!!!! The signing of Heffernan is not going to suddenly change the fortunes of this team!!!
