  1. The start of that move ending with he goal was a Sutton throw in short that went wrong and then we were put under pressure and gave the corner away. never seen a team so bereft of the basics. the only thing we do quickly is give the ball way. Absolutely no composure to our play.
  2. He’s the epitome of a dour Scot, interviews are seldom upbeat. How he motivates players is open to question and the interview after Oxford was a master stroke. Two games to still play and he’s more or less saying he needs to get rid of a raft of players (some of whom he needs to pick in the match squad).
  3. I watch the games wondering whether Mellon has coached them to hoof it forward at every opportunity without considering keeping the ball and building through the better players we brought in or do the players disregard what they have been coached to do. Either way clearly Mellon is falling short of expectations. You could argue he got more from the players he inherited at first than he is now getting from those he recruited. I've a feeling the game has passed him by while he's been out studying leadership.
  4. Latics like a pub team, just kick/ head the ball as far as possible without any composure. Nearly all the throw ins go down the line to the opposition. Utterly frustrating to watch. Effort without effect.
  5. there’s only one Sai Sachdev At least you would think so
  6. Stockton could be the next Nuttall, cost lots for little reward. Sooner we spent money on two full backs to better cover those positions
  7. Not the same Sam Hart. played in Welsh league for years
  8. Tollit is a waste of a wage. Weak on the ball and non existent off it. Should be playing in the local park.
  9. First half was reasonable without creating too many chances, their keeper hardly called into action. Second half woeful, aimless balls forward and no composure. .Hudson long balls no attempts to go short and build attacks. We just allowed them to play their way into the game and an equaliser looked on the cards for the last half hour. Bright spot was Lundstram just need three like him!
  10. Reid has the best goals per game career record of the available strikers, so I’d start him. He also plays on the last defender and has pace, pair him with Fondop who is the better ball winner and hold up player . Things can only be better than Bromley
  11. Football is partly about confidence and I don't think the players are showing any after he results we have had despite what they all say in interviews.. It's hard to believe that the players we signed were good at their previous clubs. I think Unsworth is to blame for not getting a tune out of them, but they should have some pride. Selection of big man, quick man strike force might help !!!
  12. Looked at Opta data on passing accuracy and 70% is as good as the average for L1 and better than L2. Chesterfield had a higher passing accuracy because it was constantly cycled across and between defence and midfield. I’m just pointing this out, personally I’d prefer a more front foot approach and better ball retention.
  13. I thought overall it was better than the performances last season, as it should be with the signings made. Bad points, the goals were poor defending and frankly Tollitt was the weakest link by far.
  14. Me too, Agree it's only £2 but it's worrying that this is the first test and it's failed
  15. Unlikely, as according to local paper he doesn’t want to play in NL.
  16. This must be the most technically inept Oldham team for many a year. Most of the team can't pass a football to a teammate and just boot or head the ball anywhere. Rooney can't have any complaints if he's yanked at half time.
  17. Just out of interest, has Unsworth not yet sussed that Couto has a long throw. We have a tall team so when he’s on the pitch why not use it?
  18. The harsh truth is that if other clubs in the NL could have a free pick of any of our players they would say no thanks. The inability to find players with a simple pass in possession and get close to opposition players out of possession is ridiculous. Teams get the freedom of the park. No matter how you dress it up recruitment in the summer was dreadful. At the moment the tactics suit the team - clueless! Tollitt scores goals, but might as well be in the stand when the opposition has the ball, Clarke is a seasoned pro, but can’t pass and makes brain dead fouls all the time, unbelievable.
