  1. I watch the games wondering whether Mellon has coached them to hoof it forward at every opportunity without considering keeping the ball and building through the better players we brought in or do the players disregard what they have been coached to do. Either way clearly Mellon is falling short of expectations. You could argue he got more from the players he inherited at first than  he is now getting from those he recruited. I've a feeling the game has passed him by while he's been out studying leadership.

  2. First half was reasonable without creating too many chances, their keeper hardly called into action. Second half woeful, aimless balls forward and no composure. .Hudson long balls no attempts to go short and build attacks. We

just allowed them to play their way into the game and an equaliser looked on the cards for the last  half hour. Bright spot was Lundstram just need three like him!

  3. Football is partly about confidence and I don't think the players are showing any after he results we have had despite what they all say in interviews.. It's hard to believe that the players we signed were good at their previous clubs. I think Unsworth is to blame for not getting a tune out of them, but they should have some pride. Selection of big man, quick man strike force might help !!!

70% pass accuracy is the thing to take away from this. If you're going to play like we did which was to be compact and allow them to have the lions share of the ball, the times we win possession we have to be better with it. Too many times we gave the ball away too easily and weren't able to launch enough counter attacks. I don't mind us sitting back against the better teams away from home. But we need to work on being a lot more ruthless with the ball. We created 2 chances of note in the game and one was because of a bad bit of goalkeeping.

Looked at Opta data on passing accuracy and 70% is as good as the average for L1 and better than L2. Chesterfield had a higher passing accuracy because it was constantly cycled across and between defence and midfield. I’m just pointing this out, personally I’d prefer a more front foot approach and better ball retention.

Yep, the 2 quid is neither hear nor there but I would like to listen to it. Just getting an error message.

Me too, Agree it's only £2 but it's worrying that this is the first test and it's failed

Jamie Sterry who can play as a conventional rightback or in a wing back role is moving on from Hartlepool, be well worth a look, was one of Hartlepools stand outs when they went up out of the NL and at 27 you'd think approaching his peak.

Unlikely, as according to local paper he doesn’t want to play in NL.

  7. The harsh truth is that if other clubs in the NL could have a free pick of any of our players they would say no thanks. The inability to find players with a simple pass in possession and get close to opposition players out of possession is ridiculous. Teams get the freedom of the park. No matter how you dress it up recruitment in the summer was dreadful. At the moment the tactics suit the team - clueless! Tollitt scores goals, but might as well be in the stand when the opposition has the ball, Clarke is a seasoned pro, but can’t pass and makes brain dead fouls all the time, unbelievable.
