  1. You're right, it'll ruin our free-flowing attacking game.
  2. I know there's a lot of history in the two clubs' relationship, but it's a shame we don't see more cooperation between them. Not only in ground sharing, but once you do share a ground you could promote other things. Maybe double header tickets for when both are at home, that kind of thing. I don't know, it's just a shame the town's only two serious sporting entities can't help each other.
  3. Would you be similarly dissatisfied in that position?
  4. Allardyce's football during his successful periods has only been seriously and consistently criticised by neutrals and those that were beaten by it. Winning focuses your mind, unless of course you're a bunch of self-important idealists like West Ham fans.
  5. The worst thing about that quiz is the horrendous layout job. The lads looked stupid enough without the page layout suggesting Connor Brown thought Andy Ritchie might be the highest mountain in Great Britain.
  6. Not management speak - though Johnson does have a tendency to stray into that area - but just industry-specific jargon. And that's all this is.
  7. I'd contend that we all use phrases at work that, when taken out of immediate context, sound absolutely ridiculous. It's not meant to be a fine work of prose, it's a catchy snippet that is supposed to be easily remembered and referred to. No matter how hilarious you may find it, we all had at least a decent idea of what it meant.
  8. Exactly. I think a lot of the odd phrases are just ways to refer to concepts we're all familiar with but are maybe a bit clunky to verbalise. "Corridor of confusion" is a lot easier said than "that channel about six yards out where defenders and goalkeepers tend to get a bit unsure of their individual responsibilities".
  9. Named zones, POMO and all that go back to Charles Reep and Charles Hughes in the '50s I believe. Not a new phenomenon, whether it's baloney or not!
  10. I said the skill is in getting the idea across successfully. I did not say that Johnson did so.
  11. No, but they started their managerial careers in the '60s and '70s respectively, with the most recently retired doing so two years ago at the age of 71. They were different generations. However I can imagine Mourinho, Benitez, Monk and other well respected present day managers (or at least their teams) doing it. The skill is in getting your ideas across to your players successfully.
  12. Judging by 1989/90 sneaking into second spot you weren't the only one not to realise!
  13. The vote was part of the celebrations of 125 years of the Football League.
  14. If Connor Brown is a poor player because he keeps nearly giving away penalties is a centre forward excellent if he keeps nearly scoring goals?
  15. Plenty of tattoos, trimmed beard and a bit of an undercut. He certainly looks like a footballer.
  16. His goal in his final game was just perfection. He just thought he'd show us his party piece one last time.
  17. Was the donkey guy Warren Feeney's agent? I'm here all week.
