  1. Sat in the main stand rather than in the North. The bar was pump less. On offer cans at £3.50 (Guinness £4 with a wiz). Have they removed the pumps in the North Stand in favour of cans?
  2. Byrne is on his way - he is the bad apple. Gerrard was injured. Clarke has undoubtedly worked very hard on his fitness. O'Grady was not what I expected from the comments on here ie he is not that slow and he played well. In comparison to Holloway he is a prolific striker!!!! Hamer has touches of class but is still a little raw.
  3. It is at times like these that I believe in the concept of parallel universes. First half it was 10 against 12. Whenever Maouche got the ball he gave it to the players in RED his touches were awful. Replacing him at half time gave us 11 v 11. O'Grady if we can afford him will lead the line and he made our first goal. Trialist (Benteke) scored but I'm not convinced. I can now accept that both Missile and Branger were taken on because Bunn liked what he saw. Coke looks a good signing and Taylor an even better one. When Taylor was substituted by an out of position Stott Forest had the run down their right. Sam needs more time but he is a big lad - suspect Edmondson and Clarke will start against the franchise. Can't accept that the Leicester trialist goalkeeper could have saved the first otherwise made some good saves to keep us in the game and is vocal. Pleased to see the activity by Bunn and Rhodes. Altogether feeling happier and allowing a little HOPE back in.
  4. 2 goalkeepers 1 place. 10 defenders 4 places. 9 (+ Baxter = 10) midfield 4 places. 2 strikers (- Baxter - Duffus) 1 (or 2) places. Tick tock!
  5. I'm still waiting for an untried or past it striker.
  6. I think if you want to know what happens at a meeting the best thing to do is attend. Simples!
  7. Rumour has it he passed his GCSE French exam and will act as a conduit between those who can and those who can't speak the World Championship tongue.
  8. Some people on here don't like the obvious. Our only striker is out on loan. Branger listed as a 'forward' is clearly a midfielder. Baxter is an attacking midfielder. Is it possible we will play with a 'false' number 9? In 20 days we start our league 2 campaign against MK Dons and the transfer window closes 5 days later.
  9. I remember all that crap about how long due diligence takes leading to delay after delay before AL took over. What were they doing? AL has on the one hand purchased a 'business' which is in far worse shape than he thought and on the other spent months checking the veracity of what he was being told. Simply does not add up. Either he has been duped by skilled misrepresentation or he and his advisers are second rate. Given what we know about his management style it rathe looks like the latter. The more we hear the worse it gets!
  10. None of us would have voted to move Clarke on without a replacement which is what in FACT happened so that with an injured Gerrard we were ultimately left short. However the biggest problem was and remains Abdullah.
  11. I wonder if Gardner & Uche are having french lessons so they can understand the rest of the midfield - no one seemed to understand that Irish bloke last season so I've given up on him as he will now be three steps in front of everyone else and continue to get mightily frustrated. I am so overwhelmed by the squad movements and rumours that I'm not going to any of the preseason games and I'm relaxed about missing the opener against MKDons. Bunn needs to make a couple of decent signings, I don't mean more 17 year olds, to get me on the path of enthusiasm again.
  12. You take a player from the lower level French league and play him in a game against an English lower level team. The net result seems to be that he did OK but you still have no idea how he will do in League 2. We just have to hope it isn't going to be deja vu.
  13. We have no idea how good or bad Branger will be but don't let that stop anyone from speculating. The point, I think, is that last season players were added to the squad when Wellens had no idea how good or bad they were and here we seem to be again with a player being added to the squad when Bunn is unlikely to have any idea how good or bad he is, where he fits in and is probably despite all his enthusiasm for the job beginning to wonder what he has let himself in for. "plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose"
  14. The thing that gradually seeped out of Wellens was his desire. We start with a legend who wants the job and is much more than I first thought. He could be the one but must aim for promotion as consolidation is what Corney did so well. If I live that long I don’t want 20 years of league 2. Bounce or the National league calls.
  15. Bunn is the one! He has the chance of his lifetime. Come on guys and dolls give him a break.
  16. It’s something I want but at £75k pa a dead duck. Assuming everybody involved takes nothing you must be looking at taking £9k per game. If they let you use the space for free and reimburse the cost of any improvements you make should they let they unit go ahead but otherwise save your energy for something else.
  17. I think ‘can’t make my mind up’ is another way of saying ‘not sure’ which is how I voted. Having thought about it I’m now more positive. Let’s hope he is the one because we won’t get the option of rebooting.
  18. Didn't expect this but he does have many years football experience and should have contacts that will allow him, if Abdallah agrees, to bring in players like Bryan. I hope he is the manager and not the coach so I look forward to the signing of a first team coach. I don't doubt he will have the skills to manage the players. What I doubt is that he will pick the players. A football agent as an owner is a recipe for meddling and why not as it is his to meddle with. So the question I have is can he manage Abdallah?
  19. SO we collectively have no idea what is going on. My theory is that Wellens was kept on because at the time AL couldn't stump up the compensation but an opportunity arose to allow AL to sack without compensation and he took it. However timing was not good as no replacement sought or in view. Unless we know that Clarke was asked about the job might AL have been negotiating his departure or considering a coaching role. Scholes is clever enough to dodge this bullet but could have been asked to recommend somebody. As far as I know Paul Terry is still on the books unless he was on a time limited contract but I suspect that after last season he is not answering his mobile on whatever holiday he is now on. Going forward I would not be surprised if AL hires a coach and picks the team himself - I don't think he is short on self belief.
  20. Come come what a load of nonsense. Clarke a player who was shipped out to be our manager. Scholes - don't make me laugh he is bright enough to sidestep this one. None of the above. As AL was putting his team selections to RW he might just decide to do it himself. Can it get worse? 'fraid so! Down down down down .........................
  21. I would like to suggest that Wellens or not makes no difference to the player recruitment policy as the man in charge of that is AL. We're on a road to nowhere but the future is uncertain.
  22. Undoubtedly the right end result but the timing is strange as Wellens was never going to walk away. As my son has just texted let's hope "Pierre" is better.
