  1. Wouldn't it be like the three amigos or any one of them to have leased those lovely advertising boards to the football club? And so the money for the scoreboard is spent on current account rather than capital which would make it an even more dodgy move. Now that Abdallah has seen how poor they are he probably wants them removed and taken away rather than continuing to pay rent.
  2. Well Abdallah wants to develop youth players which suggest a long term approach Lets hope we can find another Hamer and that we can keep him. Being somewhat underwhelmed by the performance of the team and the manager these last two months I'm intrigued to see how Whelsagem can add players of character to turn the corner on the underperformance. Simply put we don't have a goal scorer. I suggest we will see Placide, Clarke, Hamer (rumoured return on loan), Fane, Maouche and Davies find new homes probably with the exception of Fane and Hamer for free. There could even be some contracts paid off.
  3. No one has said Wellens is staying and no one has said he is going but from what has been said he is going to part the nile and lead us to salvation next season. For someone who has been so down beat and defeated with hands in the pockets at Northampton it does rather surprise me that he is still with us. Hope he is rejuvenated by his holiday in Orlando and finds what he had when he wanted the job.
  4. So Fane did something so bad that he was binned when Benyu was the only other centre midfield available yet the option on his contract has been taken up. Would it have made a difference? Who knows some were glad Fane didn't play but I for one would always play him with the group we had - could have just fined him. Of course it might be possible the option was exercised to see if someone will give us some money for him. Some of you seek adversity. No doubt the players mentioned the article but that does not mean the manager did not.
  5. Well a contrite Wellens attempting to be upbeat. They know who they want to keep and who to get rid. Players of character. Pity they disciplined one of the players of character and shot themselves in the foot.
  6. Spot on. We know what the Lemsagem effect has been this year. We can always hope this is a salutary lesson for him and he will do the right stuff next season. I have a season ticket so I will be there. If I hadn't bought one I wouldn't now.
  7. I'm sure that AL thinks he is competent to sort out the retained list. Paul Terry will be on holiday. We are going to see the ultimate of an owner playing the football game with our club. if I believed I would now be on my hands and knees praying.
  8. Few of us liked the Corney years because we made no progress. Simply that we made no progress but we stayed put. i was not a fan of his approach but boy do I wish he saw the season out and kept us in league 1 again. To blame Corney for what has happened in the last eight games of the season is the reasoning of the insane. Some blame lies with Wellens who will presumably wait for the sack and his severance pay. Most blame lies with the favouritism and interference by the owner who because he is the owner is perfectly entitled to do what he likes. What he likes has relegated our football club. If he carries on we will soon be fighting another battle - for survival in the football league. There is nothing about our situation that gives me cause for optimism.
  9. Our Manager didn't care about the outcome of the game. He was not in control and has subsequently indirectly criticised AL. It is possible he played the players on the 'suggested' team sheet given him by AL. Wellens was not the problem. I fear for our league 2 survival as AL is and remains the problem.
  10. Life is one thing. Football is an escape. We didn’t.
  11. Who to blame? Corney no he always kept us in league one. The players well obviously but who organised trained and picked them. Wellens & Terry well a bit - says a lot when manager and coach watch a relegation battle with hands in their pockets ie nothing to do with me. Abdallah? Well sadly for us he is to blame because he has divided and upset the players interfering in selection and transfers. He may be a successful football agent but he is a second rate amateur as an owner. Wellens and Terry can’t wait to go on holiday and put him behind them. As I sit on a train drinking beer brewed in Macclesfield I can’t help but think we will watch them pass by as we sink out of the football league. Bargain buy that season ticket!
  12. I hope we go at them and as long as the players give their all I would still think they have massively under achieved this season whatever the outcome. From a betting perspective there are nine possible combinations of results. For six of them the final whistle will be a great joy but for the other three it will be a long journey home. Nervous! You don't know what side or formation Wellens will put out and you have no idea how the team will perform. Sobriety not advised before or after the game.
  13. Plymouth need to outscore Charlton by 3 goals for a 6 goal swing to put them into sixth place. Both Rochdale and Plymouth have scored three goals on a number of occasions so it might be a gamble that will ensure Bowyer doesn't get the job next season. It is simple we have to go for a win even if that makes it more likely that we will lose.
  14. Some people need a reality check. We are playing a team that has just been relegated and we beat them 5 1. Rochdale are playing a team that needs to win and has won its last three. I know which team I would rather be. Keep our defence the same. Strengthen midfield if we can and leave Moimbe at home as he has already cost us too much. This is not an all guns blazing game it is one where we keep a clean sheet for the first half and then if Charlton are not doing the business go for it in the second half so I would not start Byrne either.
  15. I'm somewhat confused by the idea that Charlton will be able to sit on a draw. If Plymouth lose they might just sit on a one goal lead knowing that if Rochdale score they will still have enough but surely as Rochdale must push for the win Charlton will have to as well. It took Bury a couple of games to get over relegation and I hope Northampton will be the same. The only thing they have to play for is a move to another club which is something that might inspire one or two of our players Reducing wages bill by c.£500k will mean a lot of movement.
  16. Not so daft. Shez would get us a win. If Charlton beat Rochdale does Wellens get the credit for keeping us up or does he get the blame for nearly taking us down.
  17. We now see the value of the two points lost against Gillingham by the punch of Moimbe. Edmundson was our best player. Byrne has lots of skill but no discipline. Strange that Wellens went defensive before Oxford scored their second - strange is what he does and strange is what he has become. If Benyu is a CM why was he played wide previously and then dropped? Doncaster didn't want to lose so a draw was always on the cards. Northampton will probably have the same mindset next week so a draw is the most likely result. Although this is in our own hands I fancy Charlton are the key. In my dreams I see Fane scoring the winner next week to keep us up.
  18. Inspired team selection, inspired substitutions, glorious draw! In our own hands. Always thought it would go to the death and Rochdale have it all to do against a Charlton that will need a win. Smiling at my stein!
  19. It may be a bitter pill to swallow but the reality of our situation is that we have for some years been a league 1 club with an average league 2 home following. We have not liked being at the wrong end of league 1but Corney kept us in that division. He has gone and look at us now! If we go down the most likely outcome is that we will be an average league 2 side who one day will flirt with relegation from the Football League.
  20. If Walsall beat Northampton today and both Rochdale & Oldham get a point I sure the extra 300 tickets will be made available as their goal difference will take them down and who wants to celebrate that. I hope they beat Walsall as I don't like playing teams who have nothing to gain or lose when we need a result.
  21. Fane will start as Wellens thinks he is fantastic. I wouldn't go that far but don't believe the stick he gets is fair. Nazon has to start because Davies didn't look fit or bothered on Tuesday. Holloway appears the obvious replacement for Davies but we have seen the best of him when coming on as a substitute. So I would play Doyle and Duck up front. Doyle in the hope that his form returns and Duck so he has fewer people to beat before getting a shot off. Sadly Wilson didn't look bother Tuesday so he shouldn't start. Stott and Edmundson with Hunt and Hamer protected by Fane and Gardiner with Johny in goal is my choice. That leaves two spots. I would be tempted to drop Byrne and bring him on after he has stewed on the bench which leaves Nepo and Pringle to start. We should leave the gung ho stuff until the team has settled down because attack is not our best form of defence. Losing would be a downer but a draw is acceptable. A win and we should stay up due to the magic number 51.
