  1. Reading the above, the disappointment is tangible as we end the season on whimper.  It is difficult to fathom how we have failed to make the play offs after the optimism at the start of the season.  We all expected immediate success because we had new owners, investment and what appeared to be some good signings  But this is Oldham Athletic, and we all should know that is not how success works here.  Notwithstanding, I genuinely believe we will soon be able to look back on the struggles, the adversities, the losses as part of the journey to success   Thinking about the bigger picture, we have come from poor owners who almost sank the club into oblivion to now having amazing new owners who have invested millions into the infrastructure and team.  Despite the disappointments on the pitch, the overall trajectory is moving in the right direction.  Wrexham and Stockport both endured similar struggles and both are now starting next season in League 1.  We will get there, hopefully next season, and we just need to be patient.    Yes we all craved immediate success after the change but, more importantly, we need sustainability to ensure the club can continue for the generations to come.  With the Rothwell's at the helm, the building blocks are being put in place for a brighter future.  So long as we have Frank investing his money, the least we can do is keep supporting the ownership as much as we can.  Renewing my ST is a small price to pay.

I very much doubt the sharing of this data complies with GDPR. Do you think initially Oldham when they collected the data informed everyone that their data could be used this way? Do you think they make an effort to check the accuracy of the data they are sharing? That Rochdale has checked that the data was collected in a way complying with GDPR? That Rochdale have identified the legal basis they will rely on before collecting the data, and how long they will keep it, and all the other things they have to comply with to legally use the data, including a written contract with Oldham detailing responsibilities.

Under the GDPR and Data Protection Act (2018) you may share information without consent if, in your judgement, there is a lawful reason to do so, such as where safety may be at risk.

If after the teams “good run” last year, we see a deterioration in results I for one won’t want to give him long.  So the question is, how long should we give it before we can say this seasons results are worse then the end of last season.

    More than 4 games surely?

    A few questions on DU

Why did we start the game so languid last night after a 5-1 victory is this bad preparation?

The balance of the team is woeful no width no overlapping full-backs, consequently crosses being put in from 30 or 40 yards out, so easily defended.

Centre midfield totally ineffective, baffling why Gardner has not been brought on.

Tactics it was clear from the kick-off last night that things needed changing, only conclusion can be DU has not got the tactical awareness to adapt in game.

Freeman is clearly not fit why was this not addressed pre-season?

Has DU improved any of our players?

    Does DU motivate our players?

We cannot judge the forwards as the service to them is dire.

The squad is not fit for purpose to win the league i think we can already forget that.

In DU interview he is doing himself no favours we had enough chances to win the game, and he is delusional.

Lots of questions time is running out surely!

The team was set up the same as Saturday so why would DU change it from the "kick off"?  I thought we were positive from the off and played some decent stuff. Their goals were a good strike from outside the box which probably could have been closed down earlier and a scramble from a set piece.  Neither had anything to do with tactics, they are things that happen in games.  Agree Gardner should have come on second half to change the dynamics and probe more from midfield but I thought we were more likely to go on and win the game in the second half.  Overall, thought we played ok.

Nuttall scored Fondop didn’t, that’s it Nuttall starts.

Fondop made the assist that provided the opportunity.  Its a squad game and they both will have a part to play for the season ahead.  Good dilemma for DU to have. We should respect his decision on who starts and just get behind the team.

Sponsor a lick of paint around the ground, which = a lot of licks, which in turn = lots of money coming in = genius. 😇

I really think this is where the fans could help the club and make a difference.  I am sure fans / local organisations would be happy to get involved generally tidying up and painting the stadium and surrounding land to improve the matchday experience.  I appreciate everything Frank and the board have done but the club should organise some volunteering days so we can make a contribution.

Early bird prices are good. £12.40 per game under the season ticket price. Still won’t be buying to watch an Unsy team. And £24 on the day, £20 in advance to watch nat league standard!!. Way way overpriced.

"....so Frank you have come into the Den tonight for £270 of my children's inheritance.  You have valued the business at over £20 million, funded directly by yourself.  So for a 0.0000135% investment you are offering me a share in a well run football club with a significant transfer budget and a shot at promotion next season. Unfortunately, I think your valuation is too high so I'm out..."

  8. To offer balance, I was sat in the GH paddock and fans were constantly shouting "get out of our f..ing club"  or worse after they scored.  Nothing polite in that and he did not react.  One fan behind me completely losing the plot near the end.  I had young family with me and it was not pleasant to hear so not surprised he reacted.  Not an excuse mind.

Just on to the court case bit. If he wins it which suggests that the stand cannot be passed onto another party without legal consent so we then could own the North Stand but then Sinon Blitz is then owed that £3.5million which if called in straight away and bear in mind he probably would and we can't pay it we go under. So Abdallah loses either way. Is that correct?

Playing Devils advocate, if the stand cannot legally be passed on and it is legally owned by OAFC, the club may be able to secure funding against the Asset, which could pay off Brassbank and complete the build.  All future profits and rents going back to the club which are then used to payback any borrowing and eventually make a profit.  It really is a tangled Web and the interview today just highlights what a mess our club is in.

Have you been to the cinema lately? I had earache from the booming sound.

As you know I'm a dinosaur and paying to watch one movie and half an hour of adverts is hardly progress from the treat of 2 feature films, a cliffhanger serial, cartoons and a newsreel.

All the while looking forward to watching entertainers like Bobby Johnstone and Alan Groves home and away.

    Glad I'm prehistoric.😁 🦕

Are there any on this forum who actually used to chant Zigger Zagger in the 1960s?

It was chanted in the late 80s and early 90s when Big Joe was manager.  I was at Wembley against Forest and was sat behind someone who never stopped chanting it all the way through the match.  It became very annoying after a while.

A friend of mine use to be one of the kit men at Bolton and he’s saying nothing but good stuff about him. Hard worker, solid player Massive character in the dressing room who takes no BS and a leader of men!

Great addition and as much as I loved and respected Clarkey he’s a step up on my opinion.

A great addition to the backline.  I just hope he can take a bit of BS when the owner drops in otherwise he will be playing with the kids in no time.

Yep we look light. Defence mid and attack. Hope more are to come in but it really is a big gamble. Players not used to English competition could go one of two ways. Hope I’m wrong but have a nasty feel we will struggle

We may struggle but we need to give the manager and the team a little time before we write the season off as a lost cause.  The team is a bit of an unknown quantity but we need to get behind them and hope things gel on the pitch.  Meanwhile, the three groups squabbling to run the club need to find some common ground otherwise the lot will crumble no matter how good the team is.

We have to remember that only a very small percentage of Latics fans are on this board. I can go to a game and talk to people who have no idea of who has left the club, and have not much idea of who the new players are.

A lot of fans are unhappy with the situation at BP and just hope that the behind the scenes squabbles can be resolved so that the club can move forward.  However, they buy a season ticket so they can watch their team, who they have supported for many years, play football no matter how poor the product on the pitch is.  Its their escape from their own troubles at home, where they can moan, groan about something other than the high price of the electric bill.

Good news on the contract extension but why does the club feel the need to lie and waste money.

Why print a shirt with Hamer 2022 on the back, it's just a complete waste for a club that's supposed to be struggling with finances.

The article also states that he went on to become an ever present which is a lie as he missed several games towards the end of the season .. small things like this aren't great and if a fan can pick up on them why can't the people at the club.

Its PR.  If we cannot afford a £40 quid shirt, we have hit rock bottom.  He can sign it and auction it off if necessary.
