  1. If cutting back on one packet of biscuits a week so i can contribute my pound then we are all winners. I lose weight and i may get to watch a couple of decent players. I trust playershare to do the right thing.
  2. We are where we are. There is no rich benifactor coming to oldham. It is only us the fans that can move the club forward. In simple terms the more fans attending games will provide a bigger budget for better players. Staying away or boycotting will only increase the decline, Alternatively, 3000 fans paying a pound a week to playershare will fund two quality players which at our level may be the difference between a season of toil and challenging at the right end of the table for a change.
  3. As per original post, 1 pound per week (not day) from the 3000 support to playershare would generate £150K which would fund the wages of one or two new players. That would make a big difference to the club. Incidentally, i have no allegience to playershare. I contribute regularly, it just needs as many of us to do the same, be it a pound a week or more. It is a realistic way of improving the team.
  4. A generous offer but beyond the reach of most. 1 pound a week target would be a fantastic but achievable aim for the average fan. The advantage of playershare is that it all goes to the recruitment of players and not to pay off any club overheads. This is where the fans can make a difference to the club.
  5. Fan ownership is not a realistic proposition. However, I think Playershare is a route to better things. If the 3000 fans just contribute 1 pound a week, it would generate around 150k a year. That would fund the wages of one or two decent players at this level. In my opinion there is not a lot of difference at our level between most teams, notwithstanding the odd ones coming down from the championship with money. A couple of quality players could just make us competitive for a play off position. If we can be fighting at the right end of the table, it would increase the support and ultimately that increases the income, which has to be the aim of all the fans, the chairman and the board If we are mote successful, our profile is raised and just may make us a more attractive proposition for a buyer.
  6. Liquidation, administration, corney out, boycotts, protests, buy outs, what next........the fact is that we the fans are the only ones who can make a difference. There is no white charger coming to invest. We are where we are. SC has held this club together for years and admittedly has made some terrible decision but he doing his best to keep this club afloat. He would have gone years ago otherwise. Without question it is a depressing period but we have to stick together and support our club. If we stop going one thing is certain - OAFC will fold. I say it is time to draw a line under events this week and inject some positivity. There is life after Sheridan.
  7. I cannot see how playing more games on a Saturday would offset the lost income from 4 less home games. Rough estimate says you would need around 1000 more fans to attend each week. Extend the season instead to reduce amount of midweek games and get league to manage fixtures better so most local fixtures are on a Saturday.
  8. A few decent signings, a little excitement on the pitch, win more games than we lose, beat bury, rochdale and bolton. All things to give me optimism for the season.
  9. On his day a quality player. If he was injury free, he would be playing at a higher level. I would have him in my team anyday.
  10. The boycotters should look at Northampton Town if they think we have issues. Why boycott investors who have ploughed millions into the club and built a new stand! If it generates some or any income for the club then that is progress. If you really want to help the club, attend the games, support the team. If you stay away then watch the decline and you wont have a club to support in the future....... and nothing to boycott.
  11. I would rather contribute to a new cantilever roof on the chaddy end.
  12. Blitz, Corney and Gazal invested 6 million into the club to save it from oblivion. If the trade off was the land around then so be it. So long as we have a club and a team to support then I am grateful. Times may be hard at the moment but we are not unique; many clubs are struggling. It is Sky and the unfair share of tv revenue that is killing football in the lower league. It is not a lack of investment from a chairman doing his best to support a struggling club with his own money.
  13. There is no logical explanation to convince you to go. Its just good to care about something this much. Thats why we post on here, because we do care. When we step inside BP, we feel something, its our church, were we spend a couple of hours escaping the stresses of life, relationships, the mortgage, the bills, the dwindling bank balance. Its escapism where, along with 3500 other disciples, we come together with a common goal to worship our team. Yes its a completely ludicrous wallet emptying cult run by charlatons, but its our cult. Its good to care about something this much. So dont give up,come together and ride out this storm and the good times (relatively) will return.
  14. As painful as it is to watch the negative football we currently play, i will be renewing all three ST we have. I will do this because Oldham is my hometown club and they need my support more than ever during these dark days. I am fortunate to remember the good days when the club gave me fantastic entertainment week on week. It is my time to give something back when most needed. If we all walk away we will not have a club to support and the good times (relative of course) will never return. I am not just not ready to give up on the club i have supported all my life.
  15. I suspect many of us were hooked into worshiping this club after our dads took us to BP for the first time. It is part of the bonding process and it is something I still do every home game. Early memories of Maurice Whittle, Vic Halom, onto Andy Ritchie. The ups and downs, the pinch me seasons, the terrace banter. Such happy memories which all seem such a long time ago. However, this is my club, its my Church and I make the 250 mile round trip in the hope we will turn a corner but more importantly to see my Dad and continue the tradition. It is hard at the moment but if we all walk away, we will have no club. Where will Dads take their sons then.
  16. Who gets the money if we buy a latics xmas jumper from the Sports Direct Shop? If it goes to the club, i would happily sport one at the game - in fact i would buy all the family one if it went into the transfer kitty and was put towards funding some quality players. Perhaps playershare could set something in motion. I will happily throw in £100 (four jumpers) to start something.
  17. Green plastic square with a small white spot and Neil Redfearns right boot.
  18. DK is the manager and gets my vote and my support. I wont judge anyone on a stupid comment, be that on twitter, facebook or any other form of social media. I follow OAFC, he is the manager and I will judge him on the teams performance and nothing else.
  19. If we want a bigger playing budget, a better team, an improved stadium, then we need as many fans down at BP to support the club. SC has done us proud to keep this club going but he needs our support, our hard earned money to move it forward. Staying away is not the answer, it will just bring on the demise and then what do we do on a Saturday. Yes it is frustrating at times when you follow a little club like ours and the decisions of the board are often baffling but it is our club and our continued support is the only way it will get better. When we enter BP you feel something. We know its a :censored:hole in parts but its our :censored:hole ... its our church. For a couple of hours you can switch off from the stresses of work, your reducing bank balance and relationships. Its escapism where along with a few thousand others we can worship a common goal. Lets be positive, lets not protest and stay home - it will kill the club off. Get down to BP, give the new man a chance, persuade someone to come with you and that 1.5 million will increase. The future of the club is in our hands no one else.
  20. one thing is clear, the idea of a discounted ST offer has generated a positive response on here including those who do not currently have one. With good and careful marketing from the club and local media, this could work and become a viable option to get the fans bacK and any increase in support has to be good for the club. If they buy a pie, a programme and, God forbid, enjoy the experience, maybe they will come back the following season. Got to be worth trying to get this idea off the ground.
  21. Its easy. 2400 ST holders all buy three each and flog two to friends for 50 quid. Seriously, the idea of a discounted ticket could generate enough interest if marketed correctly. Mark Moisley hope you are taking notes, publicise and guage interest - set something up to allow fans to register interest (7000 = £100; 6000= £150; 5000 = £200 and so on). If 5000 dont register, normal prices resume.
  22. Judging by posts on here and the chron, too many would want the refund if the Numbers required for £100 deal are not realised. This would cost time and money and go down as another club disaster. A simple form on the website, social media, the chron or at the club office where you could register interest would see if fans would respond in the right numbers. Nothing gained, nothing lost that way. Personally, at £100, I would buy several and give to those friends who no longer go and still be better off. Anything to get the this club to progress has got to be good. We cannot rely on SC being here forever, as he said tonight in his interview. More bums on seats is the only way forward.
  23. Maybe there is someway fans can register there interest in a discounted season ticket but the final cost is dictated by numbers who sign up to the idea. It may bgive the reassurrance SC needs to offer the deal. Eg. 7000 equates to £100; 6000 equates to £150, 5000 equates to £200 etc etc. If 5000 dont pre register their interest, normal prices apply?
