  1. Someone has identified on Twitter. Looks like trialists are: Dominic McHale (Salford/FCUM), Dylan Fage (Auxerre II), Chris Eagles (peaking behind sefil), Florian Gonzales (Auxerre II).
  2. This isn’t how the usual ‘head coach’ model usually works. Head coaches are given a large input into transfer policy and usually make final decisions.
  3. A head coach having no say in transfers is very concerning. Even in the continental model, a manager usually has the final say on transfers (albeit the director of football handles the negotiations, fees etc). If this is how we are operating and the powers that be are playing ‘ip dip do’ with players and are not linking in with formations and tactics, well...
  4. The life savings comment is a very odd (and slightly alarming) one. Why would an individual with no affinity to the club or area, chose to invest ALL their personal wealth into a failing lower league club. That would be, quite frankly, financial suicide and certainly not one any right minded business man would make. If he has used his life savings and we have encountered the off field financial issues we have to date, then there has to be question marks as to the ability of this individual takes us forward.
  5. Surley this is only a problem if Scholes is seeking to retain his stake in Salford City. If he is, then matters could be reviewed further in the summer (should this become an issue) and Scholes should be offered a 6 month deal given his instance on this. I guess there is a reluctance on both sides for a 6 month deal and people are trying to have there cake and eat it , hence the issues for the FA and EFL (only my guess like).
  6. Biggest positive of Scholes (potentially) getting the job, would have to be potentially less interference in the playing side from board level (which there seems to be from the outside looking in). Scholes will surely want reassurances in this regard and if they are broken, would simply walk. Lemsagam would then find himself getting some pretty bad publicity in national newspapers or on Skysports due to Scholes profile in the game I suspect. Confidentiality clauses aside.
  7. Interesting to see the owner (and I think his brother - although I think a steward started asking him for ID) on the pitch celebrating with the players yesterday. Egotistical or deserved his moment (his money after all)? Not sure I’ve seen that happen before. Plenty of players high fiving and hugging him though.
  8. Unfortunately, the requirement is success. Something we have had very little of in recent history.
  9. ‘Keep the faith’ or not?… simple question. So fellow latics fans, our beloved club motto, ‘keep the faith’, what does this say to you? Is this a phrase which sums up your football club? And if so, is this a phrase you would like your football club to be known for?... “Ow that’s Oldham Athletic, they keep the faith!” Know, I for one appreciate this is a very minor point and I may get lambasted for even bringing it up. If you don’t have the players, your club motto can be ‘Lee Johnson’s massive phallus army’ and it will make little difference. My personal opinion is that this phrase is too pessimistic and is backwards in approach. Keeping the faith to me suggests that things are so bad, if just carry on and think of Britain you may get out the other end without too much of a bloody nose... I accept, given our year on year relegation battles you may say “That’s pretty bang on arctic10, have a coke and a smile and shut up”. Now, at the time of its immaculate conception this motto was truly deserved. This phrase came at one of my lowest points as an Oldham fan. You remember when that man who sold touch-screen tills and also liked to touch up his books brought our football club to the brink of extinction? Yes, me too. I can honestly say that I was truly ‘keeping the faith’ at this point, however this phrase has hung around like a divorcee at a wedding for the next 13 years. The message from Johnson since the day he sat in the big seat (and his feet barely touched the floor), has been that the culture needs to change from the tea boy to the chairman… So, we then move on another 12 months down the line and the message from the manager is "It is stuck in its ways, this place,"… "I've not been able to change as much as I hoped - it's bedded in and I have somehow got to change that." So, I propose a change. I’m fed up for once simply ‘keeping the faith’ and I’d like a change this year. We have a new stand, new sponsorship and a forward thinking manager. If we cannot wish for more than simply ‘keeping the faith’ at this point then will we ever. So let’s have a look at what could be: Everton - ‘Nothing but the best’ Manchester City - ‘Pride in battle’ Tottenham Hotspur - ‘To dare is to do’ Sheffield United - ‘Intelligence and courage’
