  1. In the days before the internet, printed fanzines were the way that fans shared their independent views, jokes and stories with each other. 2. Last week we looked at what can be achieved by a well organised, focused and effective supporters trust. This week, we talk to Darren Ratcliffe about his experiences on the board of Trust Oldham and as their rep on the board at the club. All against the backdrop of yet more sponsors walking away and the departure of Barry Owen. 4. With this season all but dead for Latics, our attention is firmly on the future. There's little chance of success on the pitch until there is stability off it. This week, Matt, Andy & Will discuss the importance of the fans in building that future, turning to the chair of Bees United, the Brentford supporters trust, to learn what they did. Bees fans were instrumental in building a new stadium and helping their team from Division 4 to the verge of the Premiership. There are some links below that you might find useful after you have listened to this episode, which we hope will in
  5. OUT NOW! Brought to the club twice by Shez, striker Craig Davies played for Oldham in 2007/08 & 2017/18. In this frank and open interview, he describes the feeling around the club as "day and night" in those two spells, before and after the take over. This is Craig's account of what happened in the season that finally saw Oldham relegated to the bottom tier. This episode contains strong language. 6. Evening Latics fans. 7. Paul Murray has been head of the youth academy at Oldham since the summer of 2019. He also has a distinguished playing career at the club, as well as having served as a coach and assistant manager. It's fair to say he knows the club inside out, so Matt caught up with him to learn more about how he's been able to shape the youth set up, what his main challenges are and what he'd like to see happen going forward. 8. This week we discuss the 2-2 draw against Tranmere with Andy Bickerdike, Ste Shipman and plastic Latic Danny Taylor of PTB. Following on from last week's interview with Ashley Brown from The FSA, the conversation turns to Andy's experience with Trust Oldham, their relationship with PTB and what the next step should be for them as an organisation. Plus HK's interview, PTB's latest from CEO Karl Evans, Hotel Barry-fornia and much more. You can join in the conversation by emailing your messages, questions, rants and voice messages to bpalertsystem@gmail.com.
  9. The Football Supporters Association (FSA) are dedicated to advocating for football supporters from the grass roots of the game to the Premier League. Ashley Brown works for The FSA and one of his roles is to work with clubs in crisis, which means that he has a relationship with both Trust Oldham and Push The Boundary. We caught up with him to learn more about the FSA, his personal experiences helping to save and rebuild Portsmouth FC and where he sees Oldham on the crisis spectrum. 10. Latics fixture away at Scunthorpe was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch but Matt had three eager Latics fans waiting to jump online and talk shop, so the podcast was never in any danger. In addition to the general discussion with fans Will G, Will H and Gareth, Matt is joined by the hosts of the other two Latics podcasts, Walking Down Sheepfoot Lane and The Chaddy Enders. So no match, but still loads to talk about in Latics world. Join in the conversation by emailing your messages, questions, rants and voice messages to bpalertsystem@gmail.com. Follow the show on Twi
  11. Off the back of a late winner against Richie Wellens' Salford City, Matt chats with Daily Mail Journalist and Oldham fan Mike Keegan. The win couldn't distract Mike from the bigger issues that he feels are leading the club in the wrong direction and he pulls few punches in this honest assessment of the club now, in the past and where it could be heading in future. 12. A busy week at BP, two new signings, Danny Rowe has departed and we won at home, doing the season double over high flying Newport County. There's plenty to talk about this week as Matt is joined by Adam & Ste from PTB and a pod debut for Paddy. 13. Every single Oldham fan today was different class- cheering on the Bradford disability game at half time, you could tell the kids loved it, especially the blue number 5. Starting and, certainly in the upper tier, everyone joining in the "Stand up for the 56". Even though we lost today I don't think I've ever been prouder to associate myself with our travelling support. What a difference a week makes.
  14. I'd consider the meetings we've had in the past with yourself Barry and LJ as reasonable successes. It was nice to get an insight from the managers perspective and all-in-all I thought they answered a few queries we fans had at the time. Given the fairly poor start and kneejerk reactions from fans - even fans I'd consider patient and upbeat - this season, now would probably be a good time to arrange another meeting with the manager.
