OWTB Messageboard Rules and Regulations

We strive to have a courteous and respectful community where members can discuss and debate without fear of abusive and unnecessarily rude behaviour from other members.

All posts express the views of the author of the message, and not necessarily the views of OWTB. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary.

You agree, through your use of this service, not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this site to post any material or topic which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, deceptive, inaccurate, racist, insulting, abusive, inflammatory, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually graphic, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law, including stalking or otherwise harassing individual members. Quotes, links, graphics or videos (and content contained therein) in your post are considered an extension of your post and must also meet these same standards. Any post, PM, or other entry, which makes a credible threat against a member's life or welfare is forbidden. We will consider all such threats to be real and actual, not satire or hyperbole, and act accordingly. Threats to the security of OWTB will be treated in the same manner.

OWTB.co.uk is committed to cyber-safety, the safe and responsible use of it's communication technology. The website promotes appropriate use of its communication technology by means of enforcing board rules and actively challenging intimidatory behaviour.

Shock posts or posts with misleading thread titles are not allowed.

OWTB reserve the right to remove posts and suspend members who constantly, deliberately post to bait negative emotional responses, or troll other members, isn't good for the community and it will be tolerated. OWTB reserve the right to remove posts and suspend members for this infraction.

Banter does not include "smack" talk or flaming - if you engage opposing fans with this style of posting you are heading for a warning. The same goes for visiting opposition fans, and it will not be tolerated.

Free debate is welcome on all the forums and diversity of opinion lies at the heart of a good debate. Toward that end everyone is free to have their own opinion so long as it is expressed in a civil manner, is within the subject matter topic of the forum and does not otherwise violate forum rules. Restating the same opinion repeatedly in the same thread or on multiple threads; badgering others that have differing opinions than your own; starting multiple threads on the same topic; and generally beating a dead horse is against forum rules.

As you all know, our admin team are all volunteers and moderating is not a perfect science. Your support of their volunteer status is appreciated, and calling out the Admins or Mods publicly on the forum is an invitation to be banned. Questions can be made by private message or email. In other words If you have a problem with the way this board is run, or any of the members moderating it, do not post your dissatisfaction or question policy publicly, send an email to a member of the admin team. We will not tolerate what we consider public undermining.

When posting stories/articles from outside sources, we request that you "tease" these articles rather than to post them in their entirety. By teasing, we mean that it is ok to post a couple of lines of text or a paragraph, and then just link (place the URL) to the rest of the article. Stories/articles from the Official Oldham Athletic Website can be described in the posters own words and must be linked, but should not be directly quoted. We need traffic visiting that site also.

We frown upon members using tactless and rude references when discussing Latics' players, coaches, office personnel and Latics staff in general. While constructive criticism is welcome and encouraged here, many players, coaches, office personnel and their families for instance may frequent OWTB regularly, and we ask that you seek a higher level of discourse by at least being respectful and considerate of these people.

Do not post anything promoting illegal activities, or linking to sites that promote such activities. This includes but is not limited to: cracking, phreaking, warez, p2p sites, pyramid schemes, or promoting any activities that attempt to attack or circumvent OWTB's security and/or gain unauthorised access to secured sections. We will not tolerate repeated refusal to co-operate with the moderators on matters of possible illegal content, inflammatory remarks, or other board guidelines. We reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you.

The use of dual identities or proxies for registration/primary use without admin approval is forbidden on OWTB. Using, registering, or attempting to register duals may be grounds for suspension of all user names.

Do not post anything that violates OWTB's Terms of Service agreement with Invision Power Board/Invision Power Services.

We reserve the right to remove any post or topic without the authors consent.

Signature and Avatar Guidelines.

Please limit them to 5 lines of text, no short stories or mini-novels. Please - Only ONE pic per signature, no exceptions. Admin will remove ALL sig pictures if there are multiples - it's not up to the admin team to decide which one to keep. Make sure your signature pics are of a reasonable size, befitting the layout of the forum. Oversized pics will be removed without informing the user - keep them neat - keep them spam and agenda free.

If an avatar or a sig pic shows more than you would see at your typical family beach, it is likely over the line. It is often tough to know where the line is drawn exactly when it comes to acceptability and we often review them on a case-by-case basis. We do reserve the right to delete any avatar or sig that we deem to be too provocative or otherwise, for any reason whatsoever.

By registering with OWTB you agree to the Rules and Regulations as they are at the moment, and it will be considered that you have read them. "I didn't know" or similar excuses is not good enough. OWTB reserve the right to change the Rules and Regs at any time.

For violations covered above, OWTB staff will impose sanction ranging from a warning, a suspension or an outright ban. This will be determined by discussion by the admin team and is not negotiable.
