Diego_Sideburns
What will be embarassing for the club is if the deal falls through over night..... I like being kept informed of what is going on but I do firmly belive the club should keep transfers quite until they have signed and the paper work has been processed. Its better for all concerned! I didnt need to know today that we are on the verge of signing someone! I could quite happily have read about it tomoz once it had been completed or fallen through. No big build up or any bollox...just the facts..... It could be that the new player is reading through all the posts on OWTB before deciding whether to sign. BigfinLatic
Agreed. This is what being a football fan is all about. Speculation; rumour; opinion about players we have never seen - it all adds to the pot. Football is unpredictable and signing players even more so. We almost broke the record for online users today. The last record was set in the final hours of the January transfer window. That should tell us that what has happened today is what most fans really want. And that isn't matter of fact statements after the event. Its fair enough looking at it from a commercial point of view mate... but the fact is the 'almost record number' of fans logged on to hear about a signing, which was promised, but never happened.... leaving those who have seen it all before a little miffed... Like turning up to a gig, the band not turning up, but being told at least you had a good day out and to tyy next time... I'm pretty sure fans want the excitement as you say - but not the big let down at the end... do fans really want to be told "Sorry guys, we were close, but thats yer lot" .. no, and anyone saying different is just lying... they log on to hear about a signing, not the club sodding about... again. oafc1955
You havent read the comments have you, you have just jumped straight on your high horse... I'm not talking about your comments I'm talking about comments by posters in general. I agree, we all have differing views. The player hasn't even been named officially so what have the club done wrong except wet your appetite!!!!

The player hasn't even been named officially so what have the club done wrong except wet your appetite!!!! im pleased the clubs policy has changed from stating who were after and who were supposed to be signing,as in the past other clubs find out and bang we dont sign. the thing is they announced it early so everbodys imagination was caught and we have had this commotion, only to be told at the 11th hour its not happening,if there was a problem with a work permit,i would of hoped the club may have announced it earlier,so people would be in the know....yes the click count is high, but is that the only reason to announce it,so they make the extra revenue... also it doesnt help people comming on saying where signing so and so tomorrow, and ive had an official text and so on. if it isnt 100% it shouldnt be mentioned. If it were done deliberately then fair enough. Sure there have been let-downs but I don't think that has ever been planned. Today didn't go right and others haven't either. The two last week did though and imagine the cries of disgust from certain quarters if the announcement just came after the event? Problem is, you can't win all the time and while some (and I think it is a minority) would rather just hear once the player has signed his contract, the vast majority enjoy the rumour; speculation; arriving hero worship or useless jorneyman bashing debate that precedes the player being trundled out on LaticsWorld. You missed the tarred and feathered , public stoneing , egged in the stocks and dragged through the streets bit before he gets ridiculed on LaticsWorld "Welcome to Hell"

When someone is actually having a medical and everything contractual has been agreed, then why not pass it on to us.

banana
The facts are that Ronaldo was all set to sign when he heard that real madrid were interested. They have the sun so we'll probably lose out, get used to it.
