Lookers_Carl Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 they were raving about him when they first got him Quote
Bring Back Ronnie Moore Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Decent little player for us when we were fighting relegation, liked to get forward, not great defensively though. Wouldn't get anywhere near our first team though at the moment, he'll probably go to Grimsby or somewhere like that. Quote
Diego_Sideburns Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 This is another opportunity to mention that goal he scored on 'Celebration Sunday' against Grimsby, which I claim to be the best goal I've ever seen. I bet those who got in free that day and have never returned are still talking about that goal. Good luck for the future Adam. Quote

Agree 100% Left back on right side of penalty area with back to goal leaps in the air and scissor kicks cross from left into top corner. As the ball came over i said 'what the ****'s he doing there' Not for the first time watching Latics i was rendered speechless. Quote

tactically_naive Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Still goes down as the greatest fluke ever in my book! Quote
Inspiral_Carpet Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Perfect description. Or.....Griffin stuck out his leg as far as it would go in an attempt to stop the ball going out of play. It hit his ankle and looped over the keeper in a bizarre piece of luck in a game were Latics could do no wrong and were 5-0 ahead at half-time. He's just lost his job so I'll give him the benefit of the considerable doubt! Good luck Adam and hope you get fixed up with another Club. Quote

This is one of the highlights of my watching the beautiful game for nearly sixty years and you pour cold water on it - some people have no soul! Quote
Rocky_Latic Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 He went sh**. Couldnt get in the team and wouldnt be getting in it next season - hardly a suprise. Most stockport fans knew it was going to happen. I saw him twice after he left us and he looked awful. Got run ragged both games and didnt show any of the promise he started too before he was transferred to stockport. Quote
slurms mckenzie Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Griff will always be remembered by me for his performance V City. He was absolutely outstanding that day. To me, he came accross as a perfect professional who gave 100%, but just a little short in terms of talent IMO. I genuinely hope that he gets another club. If the likes of Da Bosh and Butch can carve livings out as footballers, well theres hope for Griff. Quote
kalalas_koala Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Maybe if he wasnt out on the pi$$ with all the students in manchester most days of the week giving it the big i am he wouldnt have turned $hit! Quote

I saw him on one game on the TV last season and thought he looked to be one of their bigger players, which could have been a hint of a problem. Re: the Sunday goal, I've watched it hundreds of times, and every one it looks like he meant it. Ludicrous and he could spend a lifetime trying to repeat it, but I think he just had an instinctive pop. Quote
rudemedic Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Ooh i was going to just comment on that goal when i first read this but you've reminded me about his performance against City. Firstly I had a great view of that goal since i was in the lookers paddock near the rocky road end. As the ball cam across to Griffin he looked up to see where Vernon was (Vernon was on fire that day) and he was flciking it back towards Vernon (IMHO) and it went brilliantly wrong looped over the goalie and went in. A definate fluke in my book. As for that game against City if you look at SWP's performances against all opposition no-one has ever had him in their pocket as much as young Adam Griffin. SWP was the next big thing for England at the time and City's great big hope but Adam Griffin did not let him have a kick (of the ball at least) he was immense. I think he could still do a job for a lot of teams in league 2 so I hope he gets professional football next season. Quote

RoytonBlueLad Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Down to Stalybridge for him? Cracking goal that day though intended or not. Just fitted in with everything else that was going on. Quote
