Beardy Posted July 10, 2008 Share Posted July 10, 2008 As we seem to have a glut of ideas for raising money for Ernies charity, there is an official one that has been organised and is to take place the eve of the game with Leeds. Carl Spiers, who many of you will know has organised (with Ernies family) a walk from Royton to Leeds. The walk starts at 6.30pm on the Friday and will go through Shaw, Dobcross, Ripponden, Halifax, Bradford and eventually Leeds. There is a support car set up and breakfast in Bradford, and then onto the game. A meeting is taking place in the White Hart on the 22nd of July to finalize details and to arrange details with the police, Ernie's father in-law (i may be wrong) is also completing the walk, coming down from Middlesbrough for the event. Carl is looking for more people to do the walk and also sponsors, if you are interested in either contact Carl on 07716845511 or carlhspiers@btinternet.com. One of the lads from Rochdale had also walked from Oldham to Rochdale last Tuesday. He is a window cleaner and always likes a handicap when walking, so he carries he ladders on his shoulder. While in the pub at Leeds for a well-earned pint, some bastard stole his ladders! How low (no pun intended) can people stoop? We thought it was the least we could do following such a great effort from him, the walk itself was grueling enough so it must have been even harder for him and he's not even a latics fan!
