jorvik_latic
3.75 mill would hopefully cover the clubs losses for the next 5 years or so with ease, hopefully helping us to ride out the credit crunch Makes you wonder about the willingness of the TTA to spend and John Wardle coming back onto the scene. A bit of insider info?? Edited August 11, 2008 by jorvik_latic
jimsleftfoot
He tried to buy Liverpool before Citeh, and they took one look and his situation and did the sensible thing, told him to get lost lol! And then they sold Liverpool to Hicks and Gillette. Not sure who is worse if I’m honest.
Eddie_m'gurk
Crikey! If that is true I am surprised the City fans aren't demanding he is shown the door. Talk about fratinising with the enemy. Cannot imagine many on here would impressed if one our best players had been socialising with a local rival for so long. I thought it was odd, but true! TTA going nowhere you really think they have funded the losses for this long and done all the donkeywork to see someone else come along and make millions on the land
jorvik_latic
TTA going nowhere you really think they have funded the losses for this long and done all the donkeywork to see someone else come along and make millions on the land I didn't mean they were going anywhere (badly worded I suppose). I meant that they have been spending a fair amount of money this season when the economy is in an extremely unpredictable state, especially in housing where they are looking to make money. I was surprised at how many signings we've made when they said we wouldn't be making any more. What I meant was maybe John Wardle knows what's going to happen at Citeh, and Richards could be sold. He could have told TTA to expect a payoff soon. Just me putting two 2s together.
GFBunn
A few months ago I thought the chances of seeing any of this money in the near future were slim as City had a good manager who would be adding quality to his squad. Under those circumstances they could've broken into the top 6 and Richards might've been happy to stay for 2 or 3 more seasons. The perfect scenario now would be for Chelsea and/or Arsenal to get involved as well as Utd but Chelsea bought Boswinga and Wenger seems happy with his thin squad and to go with his own youngsters. I don't think we should grumble about a fee of only £19m. As has been said his value will only decrease with age and anything could happen in the future such as injury. We need the money now to keep this squad together and add to it so I for one am following the city circus with a happy heart and a greedy eye
JohnnyPimp
Cast your mind back a couple of years when Richards first burst onto the scene and the tabloids were 'reporting' on a proposed £5m move to one of the big 4. I remember at the time being over the moon that Latics might get a £1m cut. £3.75m is an amount I couldn't even have dreamed of.
