daznathe
now im no superfan but i strive to attend all games within a two hour radius, but i categorically state that leeds at £27 is off. £27? were paying their debts, or worse paying for their promotion. whats the average away following at elland road? i dont know it but im going to take 500 as a sample for this equation. 500 fans paying on average £27 (i know theres reduced admission for kids etcetera but im using beer pies and programmes to keep the £27 and believe im being generous there) so 500 x £27 = £13500. now apply that over 23 games and thats over £300k, much more than all the clubs in this division could possibly hope to spend in a transfer window. dont forget cup games. whats jermaine beckford on per week? maybe £5k? times that by 52 weeks a year is £260k. basicly im not doing it and the figures are probably higher in truth. by the way this is not a dig at anyone who is going. garcon
I guess I could afford the £27 if I wanted to, but I've not been to Elland Rd for about 15 years, and have no great desire to return... So if you're a bad fan, so am I! I reckon we'll live with it.

leeslover
As I put elsewhere, I'm going, it's part of the football-themed first week of my two weeks off work, but they aren't getting a penny off me for anything else. From what people have been saying I think a lot will either find it too expensive at a costly time of the year or aren't doing it on principle, and I can't argue with either of them. kellysheroes
before i buy my ticket does anybody know how many ticket have been sold, because i cant be ar**d sitting there knowing ive paid 27pound to watch league one footy and listen to leeds fans singing is that all you take away because it will piss me off but yeah i do wanna go haha
garcon
Interestingly, I've seen some Leeds fans moaning about the prices, and predicting it'll badly impact their big gates - such as Oldham.

boundaryblue80
I'dve paid £270 to have enjoyed an unbelievable game like last season. Each to their own I guess, but I wouldn't miss Saturday for the world. MasterBates knows he can milk it being their 1st home game and our first league away game. Sadly for Leeds (or not so) like last year due to Everton, they'll see less of us there due to us having Dale last night.
oafc0000
For me £27 for a game of league one football can not be justified unless it was a trip to Wembley to watch the play off final. I can easily afford it but im dammed if I am paying that much money to watch this level of football. If it was Latics chargning £27 and I knew it was going to help the club I MIGHT be tempted but to give it to those greedy yorkshire bastard...not a chance.. Instead im off to a beer festival in sheffield And will watch the score on my mobile Edited August 13, 2008 by oafc0000
ajjovek
I'm going and I'll probably buy a pie as well if I'm hungry. Me too. What everyone wants to spend their hard earned on is absolutely their business. But one thing that no-one has really mentioned on here is that it’s not hugely more than you pay normally elsewhere away from home (call it £20+ on average) and for that extra £7 you get to visit a far better stadium, probably watch a far better game of football because they are one of the best teams we’ll play this year… and possibly watch us win at elland road for the 2nd time in 8 months – you cannot put a price on the joy of smugly walking past all those yoksher muppets again. Splendid If we don’t sell our allocation at Leeds it will be simply embarrassing. But really the issue is, why would anyone want to miss this?! Next year the highlight of the season could be going to :censored:e places like Spotland for all we know. And after last night’s utter boredom, £15 would seem a bit steep. ghostofcecere
I won't be there as I'm in Copenhagen for the weekend but I think I would have had a hard decision to make with the game being £27. This is League 1 football FFS! Edited August 13, 2008 by ghostofcecere

billy
Totally agree with what's being said- £27 is far too much for a 3rd division football match but I'm being a sucker and letting Master Bates spounge off me one last time! Me and my bro will be making it as cheap as possible though. Catching the train in Marsden so we don't have to pay the Lancashire/Yorkshire boarder charge, crate of your finest lager and when we get to the ground there's a huge McDonalds just up the road near one of the car parks which has a Walk-Through! The future of fast food has well and truly arrived.. in Yorkshire! (Slightly healthier as you burn calories while ordering food)
neiladamsheadband
its a principle matter of paying £27 in this division - i ll be going to watch Ashton United and have a few beers with Alangroves perm and will probably spend that anyway - rather line their pokcets than dirty Leeds -
AndyBlue2
Wonder what Polish Hippy at Huddersfield thinks of all this £27 malarky ? same as me I bet , far too much money for a game in this division, in fact it would be far better spent giving it to factor 50 than w@nker Bates and his scummy clubs debt reduction exercise

daznathe
only £7???? lol we clearly havent met!! £7 x 500 x 23 = £182k OR £1.5k per week, probably cover deano and lewis' wages! now excuse me whilst i go and take my tea bags off the washing line! OldhamSheridan
I'm going and I'll probably buy a pie as well if I'm hungry. Go to the Chippy opposite the away end (the one with a queue a mile long into the road). Much better than any crap at any ground.
oafckev
It's a rip off but I'll be there. Only because I think watching Oldham in front of 30,000 is great. I'd rather miss going to two poxy teams grounds and go there.
Tommy_Fent
The way I see it we're paying the most money to a club who to be fair will bring the best away following to BP this season and a decent away following at BP means more money for us, had it been someone like Leyton Orient, Crewe or even Tranmere I wouldnt of bothered
