Frankly Mr Shankly
Worst game from him in an Oldham shirt by a mile. Just an observation, like.
archiecat
Hartlepool number 14(Brown,i think)first gave Eardley the runaround before switching to the right and letting Lomax have a taste. Was impressesed with him in the first half. Also an observation ..

FLH1993
if we werent 2 up, he would have been off at half time for byrne. awfulo game, and at fault for 2nd goal.

Bring Back Ronnie Moore
I don't rate Lomax as much as other people, he's quick I'll give him that, but defensively he's not that great, gets caught out of position too much.
beag_teeets
Fair play to Hartlepool, Wilson had seen us at least once and had probably had us watched again, any manager worth their salt could identify that our weakness is having two righties on the left and target Lomax. oafcprozac
Worst game from him in an Oldham shirt by a mile. Just an observation, like. Didn't overly notice him tbh Jamie, so imo he wasn't that bad, no-one was particularly bad but no-one was outstanding either. Eards could be criticised, certainly for the cross for the second and Greegs was aknob for gobbing off all game, losing the plot then diving in. The card was harsh but not surprising. ghostofcecere
I posted after the last game that the two full backs were our worst performers during that game; yesterday I thought Eardley played well but Lomax had a stinker. We have needed a specialist left full back since Charlton retired and yesterday's game should surely have shown Shez that this must be our top priority in January. That is unless Lee can show us at some point that that's his spot.

Tommy_Fent
his positioning was poor in the first half and it appeared that Hartlepool took advantage of it. I think yesterday was a learning curve
garcon
I think yesterday was a learning curve Most senisble words in this thread. I wasn't there, but from what I heard he got taken to the cleaners. Lomax has impressed me this season, seems to have cleared up many of the errors he was making last season (mostly positional) and is developing his game nicely. Next lesson was always going to be a nightmare 90 mins (if it hadn't come on Saturday it would have come sooner or later). The key is how he learns from it and how he responds to it. leeblue72
Lomax started poorly and had his worst game for us. Does Richie Byrne play left back I'd give him a dabble. Don't slag Kelvin off, he's a right back learning the game playing in the wrong position. Eards would be equally poor if deployed as a left back. Stilll top of the league and some players have not hit peak form yet.

I wasn't slagging him off personally, I rate Kelvin really highly and one of the reasons I like him so much is how consistent he is. It was noted yesterday how much of a nightmare he had, just needs to get a steady game back in next week I feel.
jsslatic
A neutral who came to the game with me (Rangers fan), asked me after about twenty minutes if Lomax was a natural LB or if he was just filling in for someone, as he looked very uncomfortable there. He had an uncharacteristally poor game, but the above comment made me wonder whether if someone who'd seen Latics for all of 20 mins this season had noticed it, an opposition scout/manager would pick it up pretty quickly too. edhunteruk
leave the lad alone. He wasnt at fault for any of the goals???? jesus he has done well so far and has deserved the plaudits he has got from everyone, there isnt some kind of unwritten rule that there not allowed to have a bad game, there only human after all..... i thought shez had addressed the situation by bringing lee in,but with him not being ready the jury will still be out.now he has brought byrne in for a month to take a closer look,so maybe it would be wise to shunt lomax inside where greegs normally is and have byrne out left, that would be a more balanced look and let kelvin play on his natural foot so to speak. if it works great, end of problem,if it doesnt then i think in january an out and out left back is needed,it might just be the difference between automatic and the playoffs. Lomax at centre half?! Nah leave him where he is, Think either Byrne or Stam should replace Gregan, don't know who I'll leave that to Shez but either player will do a job. Stam and Hazell had a good partnership last season

boundaryblue80
The card was harsh but not surprising. Lol...had chance to see it back on TV now then? As for thoughts on Lomax, yep, did notice he had an off day myself. Nice to see he's human as he can't keep up his excellent standards every week. And will only be a one-off...unless Shez yanks him from the team at the first given opportunity.
