jsslatic
Bet Stefan wasnt happy to hear that News, Saturday's goal doubled his goal tally since he's been at Oldham In all honesty, the dearth of goals from Latics CBs is a worrying trend. People castigate Liddell for his delivery etc, but he does put in some good balls but they're either cleared or nodded over. Off the top of my head, Greegs has scored one (from the corner of the area on his debut), Stam has one (maybe two) and Rubes has two - one of which was a 35 yard screamer. Their predecessors over previous years have not fared much better. Someone of Greegs' strength and presence should be bagging four or five a season IMO. Totally agree, Greegs wins most headers in the area but never when attacking
BigfinLatic
Totally agree, Greegs wins most headers in the area but never when attacking The difference is that defensive headers are much more about positioning.... look at the CB's who are brilliant at scoring goals, the Vidic, Laursen and Terry of this world... they charge in like a steam train and its all about speed and having an absolute determination to get to the ball first.. TBH, not too many CB's at our level are any good at it... its another one of those things that if they were good at, they wouldnt be playing at our level.... bullet headers from corners are few and far between in league 1... tbh, with Hughesy's at Hartlepool and Chrissy at Southend we are probably in our richest vein of corner form for quite some time! Macca
What's Richard Graham doing these days? Sure he wasn't far off double figures from headed goals from corners. Shame he had to retire so early, Haining used to get a fair few as well.

Whilst the above is true, 1 in 67 for Greegs and 1 in 90 for Stefan isn't the best return!

GlossopLatic
Thast because we don't wait for the centre halfs to get up there that much. Ive seen times when Gregan doesn't bother at all and stays on half way for quite alot of corners and set pieces seriously watch us at corners and free kicks he won't go up for that many which amazes me as he is our best header of the ball and our slowest defender why you would want him last man in that situation I just don't know.
