Lincoln Blue
I've just seen the Simon Corney Christmas interview on LW. He states the club want to keep Hughes and Taylor but basically if the offer is too good to refuse players will go. This has always been the position. Comments anyone? RoytonBlueLad
What can we do? If the offer is seen as too good to refuse they will go. Can't blame them for that. They do seem a lot more wary of getting stung with players leaving on a free but we know who to blame for that.
Lordy
Standard Corney interview really, doesnt give much away in this one, good gesture by the club regarding the Woolworths offer !

He also mentions that when a deal is already done in regards to agents and another club then Oldham can't really do anything, then states that’s not the case with Taylor........doesn't mention Hughes though. I think you can take that as Hughes has an offer from another club which He has accepted
palmer1
Standard Corney interview really, doesnt give much away in this one, good gesture by the club regarding the Woolworths offer ! he also states that hughes does have a contract release clause of 400k and the rumours on the internet message boards are unfounded and wrong cant think who he was talking about
jsslatic
Impression is that Hughesy has said he's off if someone comes in for him and the club are resigned to losing him. Will make a token contract offer but he's offskis. Nothing new really. SC just looks tired and completely fed up with the whole situation. Whilst his words imply he's still committed, he looks jaded and sounds disillusioned with the whole situation. Doesn't even seem to care now about the crowds (which used to really rile him up), and his comments on both Chrissy and Lee's futures had a distinct air of 'que sirrah' about them. eddyblue
Thought it was a good interview, and a fair and balanced assessment of the reality of running latics, and running it very well. Interesting that many clubs are in dire straits and that latics finances are (comparitively) sound. Restored my sanity somewhat after all the rumours flying round. Steady progress is success at latics and frustrating though it is for the fans we have to accept that until other sources of funding come through ie redeveloped stadium (prob years away) or improved crowds (been waiting 50 years) we have to sell players but at least we can hang on for the right price rather than fire sale prices like simon said
shefflatic
GLAD hes set the record straight regarding Hughes, i dont think it sounded like he was offskis at all, basically we will make him a very good offer and its up to Lee, if he wants to leave then so be it but i would see it as half a slap in the face if he does. Guess we'll see come jan.

palmer1
here we go...popcorn double feature. :popcorn2: if there is a release clause in his contract it is now common knowledge, he admits that. but if there is no release clause then why say there is, people would want to buy him anyway so why limit the cost. if they really want to sell, start a bidding war, he can go for free in the summer anyway. and why state a 400k release clause and tout for 300k. from past experience he has always been a straight shooter so why doubt him. Makes perfect sense try to entice clubs to offer £400k when otherwise realistic they are only going to be receiving offers of around £250-£300k
