opinions4u
From league games after the Everton win: Last Season: P23 W10 D8 L5 = 38 pts This Season: P23 W11 D8 L4 = 41 pts Combined: P46 W21 D16 L9 = 79 pts 79 points over the last few seasons has left sides 5th, 5th, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 8th. In other words, a modest improvement in results and Latics can go up automatically. But I think we knew that anyway. One view - with the increase in squad size, Hughes being fit etc I'd have expected a significantly better 23 games August-December than January-May gave us. The club is sometimes a victim of those inflated expectations. Edited January 1, 2009 by opinions4u

daznathe
incidentally, if you start at the beginning of last season, and only count games when super gregan didnt play, we hit the magic two points per game target. weird.
