That means one reporter read what another reported had either gleaned/guessed/completely got the wrong end of the stick of (delete as appropriate). Then the same article appears in two papers/web sites. Then a few more jump on the bandwagon and it becomes 'gospel' rather than 'gossip'. There may well be no smoke without fire. The smoke may be linked to Hughes. Who may or may not have decided what he wants to do. It may not be. Ultimately we are none the wiser!
