  1. 1. What would you prefer as an owtb end of season 'do'?

    • The usual - White Hart - for the duration
      3
    • A pub and then into town for much merriment
      8
    • An arranged 'do' in a function room
      7
    • Wait and see if we get in the play-offs / go up
      14
    • Nothing

Edit: Poll added.

Starting to think I should earn my Neil Redfearn / Event Organiser title and start putting out some feelers about what people are up to after the last match of the season. It has crept around quickly, but we only have a few weeks to the end :disappointed: .

Would people be interested in any/several of the following for OWTB?

  • Bob-all
  • Some relaxed meet-up in the usual pub i.e., WH
  • Pub then into town
  • An actual 'do', in a function room somewhere
  • Other - gizza clue, then!
It could be that people have their own plans, want to play it by ear, or that people would rather save themselves for after the play-offs  (in which case, the suggestions may still stand).

No offence taken if people don't want anything sorting - just if people do want a proper function thing, it needs booking! The last OWTB meet-up was really good fun - getting to know everyone, talking football til last orders, getting different points of view, bit of singing.......not to mention copious amounts of alcohol consumed!

Anyway, let me know!

Hey a proper function sounds like a damn good idea, would be a little easier for all involved for getting home etc..

However a pub then into town also sounds very appealing. I would say after the last match meet at a pub somewhere and then just parade around town in our latics shirts until we drop (none of this 'we are going out so we gotta wear a nice shirt' crap)

As for playoffs, if we get to the final, the weekend after maybe? If not then the weekend after the second leg?

Sounds like a good idea, let me know if you manage to arrange something,

Problem with Latics tops / trainers, etc is getting into places in town (considering dress-codes on saturdays, especially at the end of the season). It would be great though, especially if we managed to 'clinch' 2nd spot 3 minutes into injury time :D!

And I'd be all for drinking at the end of the season, after the play-off semis, after the play-off final, etc etc, just leaving sorting anything (if people do want something booking) til the last match (to see if we get in the play offs or not, for example) is a bit short notice. If that makes any sense.

amsterdam for the weekend!!

haha

What? And miss the match?

I've pondered the thought of trying to sort out a weekend away and meet-ups in the close-season - maybe make it seem less long and dull!

Well book a function room then, cant have a latics doodah and not wear latics shirts!!

A function needs summat to distinguish it from a piss-up, a speaker or two, something like that. I'd be nervous about it as it could all depend on how we stand going into and coming out of that game (which doesn't help with planning...) Maybe one of the pubs would be up for putting some grub on for us (for free or otherwise) at 7-8ish o'clock, give folk something to hang about for, then a coherant plan for town for them that want it and stay in the pub for them that don't?

Well they have plenty of notice to come up with excuses / bribes!

i know but it will still resemble something like the following

"hun, im just going getting some milk!"

but its 9 o clock at night, and you have your suitcase packed

"CYA!"

door slam behind him!

I say pub after last match of the season for a ding dong then another celebration night out,

come what may in "MAY"

what we have done in the past is booked a meal at marios (for example, dont think they will have us again!) then just gone round oldham and got trollied!

its simple, cheap and the lightweights can go after the meal if they dont want to partake in the festivities!

I like the idea of a meal, but numbers could be a problem. Even 20 is quite difficult to accommodate!

though the meals do tend to turn into a food fight..but its not down to me! im a good lad i am!

i think marios could take 12-16 tops

either that or we all just get a pizza from the godfather, eat it on sainsburys car park, then go off to town to get trollied!!

I have some friends coming to the last match, and have promised to show them the bright lights of Oldham (couldn't face Rochdale - they've all led quite sheltered lives.....although Oldham could also be an eye-opener for them all). But they're here for a few days, so I could take them to town another night. I think taking them to the WH could be interesting. They have been warned!

They were quite concerned whether you lot would mind them crashing their post-match drinkage. I told them not to be silly - they're all girls so will be welcomed with open arms .

So we'll probably need food at some point - but they aren't averse to a dodgy kebab from somewhere. I think drinking will be a priority for all involved!

Used to go out in Oldham every week when I was at school, but things have changed a lot - even in the last 6 or so years since I last went there - new bars galore!

I can safely say I never went to Candlelight. I did go to the Cabaret club a few times though, which was the most appalling school disco thing ever. Is that still going?

White Hart, match, Royle Bar, White Hart to celebrate my birthday part 2, get drunker, lose some stuff, fall over, go home.

Blimey, apart from the birthday bit that pretty much sounds like most games I go to.

It sounds like all of them at the end of the season for the last 20 years too.

KtF,

Derek.

btw Mads, when you say town, you mean you are taking your mates out in Oldham???

Take them to Manchester, it is much better for a night out.

Might do Manchester one night, but I know it less than I know Oldham. Fancy being our tour guide one night? Oldham after the game if anywhere!

And yes, what you suggested would be like every match for you - that's why I'm trying to make it a bit bogger and longer

Now get to bed
