rudemedic Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 (edited) In a summer where Fergie seemed to forget his club's appalling history of tapping up players when it came to moaning about the winker, yet another example about how appalling PLC like to act (as bullies as it were) when it comes to the services of other teams' players. I did hear that there is some law (possibly football, possibly immigration) that a player can only move if under 18 if the parents have a legitimate reason for moving. So I wonder where Man Ure found Macheda's parents a job etc. I think if FIFA can say only 5 foreign nationals in a team then they can limit all these transfers (which somehow always feature the player coming to England) of children under 18. RoytonBlueLad Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 So I wonder where Man Ure found Macheda's parents a job etc. There was a bit of a storm over his brothers and father coming over here. They work for the club as ground staff and gardeners they claimed. Hmm Quote
thelaticsfan Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 hmm man united saying they done nothing again, remember the berbatov move where as part of spurs selling him there was a clause where they could not pursue any more legal action? they complain about city buying their way to a trophy but theyre bribing their way to a trophy! they have lost all respect for authority now its just a small complication that can be sorted no problem, what the FA should have done is investigate the berbatov move independantly, if spurs have their hands tied the FA can start their own, youth players should be watched more closely as the big clubs just sign all players up who show any promising signs, if they dont deliver they just dump them in no mans land again before they get the chance to develop and start their career which they would have done elsewhere Quote
oafcprozac Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Biggest mistake David Brown ever made, he probably would've got a chance here seeing as we were going down the youth route. United chewed him uo and spat him out and ended up a lower league journeyman without ripping up any trees. It could have been so different. Quote

Not many parents think about the long-term prospects, when tempted by the offer of short-term glamour. Quote

Hometownclub Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 It's nothing new, its been happening for decades, Ferguson and Man Ure are hypocrites, but they are not the only ones. All these clubs regularly tap up or poach players and then scream blue murder when it happens to them. Quote

How many of us were furious at the, "vultures," hovering over the fire sale and furious over Portergate, yet were happy to be sniffing around Rotherham and Gretna when they were in trouble and would be delighted to steal a young player from Scotland avoiding a fee. thelaticsfan Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 yes but either way them players where going to end up free agents so might aswell snap them up, the players we are talking about here were not going to be free agents, they were part of a long term plan Quote

Hmm See that's wrong that is (if Macheda wasn't from the EU I'm sure someone from immigration could be having more than words about that). Man U blatantly break the rules (and surprise surprise it isn't featured at all in the MEN) and get away with it. Its about time the FA did something as its obvious whenever there's a dispute like this that the big club gets the verdict in their favour (I remember some Palace youngster going to Tottenham on a tribunal- and the tribunal valued him about half as much as he was worth - a third of what Palace thought he was worth- so it isn't always Manure). UEFA/FIFA won't do owt either as Le Harve aren't exactly Marseille/Lyon. Quote

You're talking about a situation similar to the fishmonger letting his salmon go for next to nothing at the end of the day, compared with the poacher getting his from the river. Quote
