oafcprozac Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 (edited) When was the last time a new manager of ours won their first game? From my memory: Royle lost to Tranmere Shez lost to Tranmere Moore drew with Luton. Talbot drew with Colchester. Dowie lost to Cardiff. Wadsworth drew at Cambridge. Ritchie lost to Notts County. Warnock lost to Bradford. Sharp drew I think to Luton. That's as far as my life span allows me to remember. Royle lost to Tranmere Shez lost at Tranmere Moore won v Port Vale Talbot drew v Col U Dowie lost to Cardiff Wadsworth drew at Cambridge Ritchie lost to Notts C Warnock lost v Bradford Sharp drew v Luton Royle won v Shrewsbury Edited August 9, 2009 by oafcprozac Quote

oafcprozac Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 sheridan won his 1st game vs yeovil 2-0 nope, that was the opening day of 2005, when Ronnie Moore began his only full season at BP. Shez began his full-time appointment on the opening day of 06/07 at Prenton Park. I suppose you could count his caretaker tenure with Eyres when we beat QPR in December 2003, the day after Dowie walked. Quote
Stevie_J Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 nope, that was the opening day of 2005, when Ronnie Moore began his only full season at BP. That's what I was thinking and wasn't it a bigger win? I seem to remember it as being 4-1 but then my memory's nothing like yours, Prozac. Quote

Yeovil was 2-0 mate, second home game of the season was a 4-1 win over Chesterfield with us scoring twice in the first five minutes - one a sublime turn and volley from Andy Liddell. Quote

The Wycombe game was Talbot's 4th game in charge after home draws with Col U, Barnsley and a superb away win at Bristol City. We lost 3-2 to Wycombe when Nathan Tyson ripped us apart, scoring twice before Craig Falcounbridge nicked a last minute winner. That would prove to be our last defeat of the season at the end of March. Quote
Frankly Mr Shankly Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 a 4-1 win over Chesterfield with us scoring twice in the first five minutes - one a sublime turn and volley from Andy Liddell. I think that was the worst 4-1 win I'd ever seen us do. It was dire, and the game was effectively over early doors. Branston scoring with a header too. Quote

Branston scoring with a header too. From a corner no less! It was a bad game that, I was gutted too, stood to win over a ton from the Chaddy end bookies then Warney goes and pops up with the 4th in injury time, rendering my 3-1 bet useless. I even booed him (in a comedy type way!!!!) I wish I'd seen Fred Macauley back then.. Fookin......booo! Quote
