Stevie Whitehall Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 For Rotherham On A 3 Year Deal. Wouldnt Have Minded Him Myself! Said on The Dale website before that the move had collapsed due to personal demands. Good signing for Rotherham, they are building a pretty good squad there, including two former Latics players. Jason Taylor, he's carved out a fairly decent career for himself. Expected him to fade into Non League obscurity. Always rated Baguley more to be honest. Last I heard he was at FC United. Quote

I'm going to their game at Gigg Lane against Boston on Saturday, joining an old uni mate and becoming a honourary Boston fan for the day. I think Carlos Roca plays for FCUM too. Quote

opinions4u Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 For Rotherham On A 3 Year Deal. Wouldnt Have Minded Him Myself! Saw him at Wembley in the play-off final v Stockport. He was invisible. A lot of his goals are penalties. League Two is probably the right level for him. Abbott, Parker and Byfield have a better pedigree. Quote

He did sod all in the cup-tie last season either. The outstanding player on the pitch at Wembley was Liam Dickinson, same as at Boundary Park when we drew 1-1 with Hudds last season. Quote

The outstanding player on the pitch at Wembley was Liam Dickinson, same as at Boundary Park when we drew 1-1 with Hudds last season. He started - went off after 57 minutes. Seen Dickinson a few times - never been disappointed. At the point of a 4-5-1 he's excellent with strength and workrate. Edited August 10, 2009 by opinions4u Quote
Rocky_Latic Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) Saw him at Wembley in the play-off final v Stockport. He was invisible. A lot of his goals are penalties. League Two is probably the right level for him. Abbott, Parker and Byfield have a better pedigree. Wembley was only one game. Alot of his goals are penalties but he averages one in every 2/2.5 games (this including the many games when he's come off the bench - in the season Hilly openly admitted he didnt know his best strikeforce) Alfie gets you 15/20 goals a season in league 2. He is only 22. Not suprised they couldnt agree terms at one point, as Alfie is one of the biggest earners at Spotland. It is disgraceful how a club with Rotherham's recent problems can go splashing around this type of money - They signed a lad from Crewe for a similar fee in the summer. They sold Reuben Reid for £200,000. Still a sizeable amount spent on transfers which most clubs wouldnt even dream of spending at that level. Doesnt seem they've learnt their lesson. The fee is bigger than the reported £150,000 initially thought - as Rotherham have confirmed it smashes there transfer record substantially (which was £150,000 in the summer for the lad from Crewe - Pope) He'll do well at Rotherham. Alfie could easily cut it in league 1. Edited August 11, 2009 by Rocky_Latic Quote
RoytonBlueLad Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Jason Taylor, he's carved out a fairly decent career for himself. Expected him to fade into Non League obscurity. Always rated Baguley more to be honest. Last I heard he was at FC United. Taylor was a snapper. Great at getting stuck in. Shame we had so many midfielders around at the time he was looking to break through. Problem with Baguley was every pass he attempted was the killer pass. Great when it comes off but he could try it 20 times a game and sometimes it'd never work. Quote
