We only mention it when we lose really but that ref wasn't particularly good. He was too trigger happy with his yellow cards and I thought the only foul in the entire game which warranted a yellow was :censored:'s (I think it was on Demitreiuo (sp?)) in the second half. We were fortunate to get a penalty, when I saw it I swore blind it was outside the box, but obviously didn't complain, after seeing it on TV this was confirmed. We don't usually benefit from poor refereeing but we did today, ah well, makes a change!

dont we always get poor refs full stop?

I think referees need something new IE an independent body who review the referees performances,

lets face it the FA will never do anything to them, they can cost you the biggest game in your clubs history and not get any action taking against them, yet they cry that they should be respected

agree that players need to show them respect but its a 2 way street,

brings the question up though, is it time we brought in 4 linesmen? 2 each side?

Although it was not a dirty game, I lost count of our bookings, but I suspect it was enough to incur a fine.

Yep we had 5. Is it an automatic fine or do we go before a panel? Its a bit harsh to get fines for fouls the only one that wasn't was Gilberts for kicking the ball away and that was a poor decision by the ref as the lad was clearly making a genuine attempt to pass the ball and he had only just blown he clearly wasn'y doing it to waste time or make sure he had enough time to get back in position.

It's 6 bookings to incur an automatic fine, so we should avoid that.

Speaking as a qualified ref, I have a degree of sympathy for the guy even though I didn't attend. It was probably his first game of the season (in the middle at least) and just like players he will still have a bit of rustiness. However if he is making the same mistakes week in week out, then he will eventually get pulled. It's just unfortunate that in situations like that, it takes 4 or 5 teams to suffer.

Not to worry, week in week out it is 'the worst ref ever', etc.

Fact is, it isn't easy as you only have two eyes and they are at a different angle to those from the stands who are positioned so that they can see stuff. They are going to get stuff wrong, as anyone will.

Never really one to blame refs* (although that guy at Carlisle last year was just a :censored:), as teams put themselves in the position to give something away more often than not, like commiting a foul very near the penalty area.

*In the heat of the moment during a match I will swear blind he raped my daughter. Although I have no children.
