Bit different to Hall as it was starting to look like he was destined for a non-league career. Fair play to Supple for following his feelings and not the pounds. He might regret it when he's still paying a mortgage in 20 years time though.

Still, respect.

Yeah, good on the lad. He's opting for a steady career doing something he's more interested in. It probably highlights how the world of being a reserve player can be a pretty dull, lonely and thankless job. You've simply got to enjoy work to function properly, whatever you decide to do.

I can recall a few fans being pissed off at Chris Hall for throwing it in because of the amount of money Latics have paid him, and invested in him from youth level. But few actually understood, or appreciated the fact that being unhappy in a job is one of life's worst prolonged feelings.

Good luck Shane.

Did he actually make a save in his time here? He commanded his area well and his handling was good. I would have liked to possible brought him here on another extended loan but we have 'Not so' and Comparethe meerkat so we're well covered at the moment.

I respect the lad's honesty...

He's retired from the game at 22 (but I think if someone came in for him in a few months where he'd be a first teamer he might be back). Has he fallen out of love with the game or has he fallen out of love with sitting on the bench? Being a reserve goalie is probably a very hard task- you have all the downsides of professional football- the getting up at 5am for away games, the long travelling, in his case being away from home as well but you never really play. When you do play its usually because the bloke in front of you, who is more often than not a good mate, is being rested on the manager's whim/status of the competition, or he's been sent off or he's injured. I don't know that many people who would want their mate to fail like that.

With him being Irish it could be that he was more of a gaelic football fan and I could see him ending up there if one of the teams can spot his highly transferbale skills.

No offense to the lad, as he is following his gut, but I hope he ends up in the *second most bollock boring job in the World. Must be living with the fairies to turn his back on the kind of wage he'll be on.
