Lukers1 Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 With the feel good factor back at BP , we need to appoint a sales/marketing director now. I know the advert went last week out but we havent had anyone to fill the post that Sean Jarvis left when he went to Udders. From memory it was mentioned that we need 6500- 7000 home fans per match to break even , which can be achieved if the marketing is correct. I just hope we dont do it on the very cheap, we need a quality person in this role. Quote

opinions4u Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Guy Walker has been there a fair few months. He's handed his notice in - he realised marketing :censored:e for a fee wasn't feasible. With this manager/team .... it's a job I'd kill for. Quote
singe Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 (edited) I think you are spot on about getting it right since SJ left, and the importance I disagree though about the Director level, I think it's a Sales and Marketing Manager, with AH & SC controlling the budget, and a real hands on role. Into the various shopping malls, lots of calls to the various buinesses, the relationships with the fans etc Not A Direcotor going for the strategic role, more someone to be doing the donkey work. REquirements of the job I posted some initial thought at the time Guy Walker departure was annouced, I don';t there will be many differences of opinion on what needs to be done. Couldnt we do it between us, there must be some people in the trust who could put some of the good ideas you had into practice. Quote
HarryBosch Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 I heard a few around me saying this at the Notts County game - we're only a left back, keeper & a sales director short of a promotion push Quote
wardlelatic Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Im sure the club will be looking to bring in a Marketing manager soon to fill the position. Trust Oldham and The Oldham Community Trust are well into devising structures to hopefully bring a few new faces to games to fill the many empty seats. Ideas are picked up by the club, slowly but they are picked up. Quote

steveoafc Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 As leeslover has mentioned before, the two home games coming up against yeovil and bristol rov are not going to attract big crowds and they won't bring much support,so now, with the team playing well and the feelgood factor back, would be a great time to try and attract any floating supporters back. Maybe both games for £25 or £30 for adults and kids a nominal amount. Strike while the irons hot and all that. Quote

Your right Steve, what a good idea, we need to try and swell the crowds for these matches and try and get an extra 1000 in... Quote

One stand only, just let people know in advance so they can go in the other stand. Quote

This year I think a lot of people would have been less bothered about missing games in August due to the rubbish served up last year and arranged holidays accordingly. Come sept I can see a fair few more down the ground if they carry on as they have done. Quote
