Has anyone else seen this cracking 21yo left winger at Droylsden ?.... fast, strong, determined and the quickest feet I've seen in many a year.

I understand he almost signed for Coventry City last year when at Rhyl and went on loan to Charlton Athletic instead.

Definitely one Latics ought to consider trialling in the reserves IMO.

Seems he has had his chances at over 4 decent clubs and not made the grade.

2007–2008 The New Saints 27 (6)

2008 Cammell Laird ? (?)

2008 Bradford Park Avenue ? (?)

2009–2010 Rhyl 11 (4)

2009–2010 → Charlton Athletic (loan) 0 (0)

2010 → Wrexham (loan) 15 (1)

2010– Droylsden 4 (1)

Never be be mislead by club records, history is littered with non league players who have become massive stars.

Two of the best left wingers ever to play for Latics, Alan Groves had David Eyres had similar backgrounds.

You also failed to mention he turned down the chance to sign for championship club Coventry City last year.

In my long history of watching players I can tell you this boy has far more ability than any other forward on Latics books, he's fast, aggressive, with superb ball control, quick feet, a slick passer of the ball. possesses a terrific shot and chips in with goals, isn't that someone worth taking a look at ?

Have you tried dropping an email to the club? I genuinely, honestly don't mean to sound snide, but what are you hoping will happen by posting here?

It's an open forum and the idea is to stimulate discussion, my question was has anyone else seen him ?

Droylsden is not a million miles away and if Latics don't know about him then their scouts are not doing their job.

There is no doubt in my mind if this player trialled in a Latics reserve match he would be head and shoulders man of the match, the club could then take it from there.

Was about to post the same thing; have you emailed or rung the club? Because really; other than 10 people or so on here 'discussing him' in a "I've never heard of him" type of way; what else is going to happen by posting on here?

As per Crusoe; not at all being off-ish or snide either; just - is it the best place to notify Latics about a non-league alledged prospect?

That's the way - stifle all posts that don't meet with your criteria.

Now now; wind your neck in Mr 1960, as I said; I'm not being snide or wanting to stifle your post; just wondering what you're hoping to achieve by posting this on OWTB? Whilst we have posters like Barry Owen who are involved with the club; I doubt he'll be printing off a copy of this thread and running it over to PD with any urgency.

Emailing Alan Hardy or the 'other' Paul Butler; the scout one not the fitness one; might well register and something might; just might come of it. That was all I was getting at; not attempting to stifle at all...........

If I was Barry Owen I would.

I see former Ashton Striker Ben Deegan has joined FC United...surprised no-one's had a look at this lad yet. Definitely better than non-league.

He clearly isn't though, or else a League club would have come in for him.

Not having a go BP but, like others, I do wonder why you post your ideas on here without directing them to the club as well. It may be that you feel that your views have been ignored in the past but surely it's in the interests of the club to hear from you if you're confident of your judgement.

You did highlight one or two Droylsden players last year. Did any league club pick them up?

He has the talent, but is a bit of a hot-head and has been in trouble a few times on the field. Has pace, height and is a real handful and every time we have sent a team to Hurst Cross we have struggled against him. Trouble is with most semi-pros they're earning decent money from their clubs added to their full-time employment outside of the game. Often it's just not worth their while. Not everyone has Ernie's desire to take a paycut in order to play lower-league football.

As prozac says there are many reasons players stay in non league, many though have unquestionable ability.

30yo Paul Benson signed for Charlton this week for £250,000 and he's been around non league for donkeys years.

David Eyres was 26yo before he moved into league football and was probably looked at umpteen times by league clubs who took no action.

There are also some though who do not live a professional lifestyle and no matter how good they are league clubs won't take them on, I know one in this category who many scouts consider championshiop material, but won't recommend him.

As for Holden I don't know his background or the reasons he turned down a move to Coventry City, but IMO he has exceptional ability far above anyone on Latics books. The last I heard he is to be watched by 2 Premiership clubs.

There were 3 I liked at Droylsden Pete, one moved to a higher level for a substantial fee, another (with more ability) was rejected by a league club for shall we say 'personal' reasons, while one is still suffering from a long standing injury.

You can't win them all

Take no notice of BP1960. If he had half my eye for talent then England might have won that shoot-out back in 1990. :ranting:

You don't know how right you are

I don't think there's a problem in naming the one who moved to a higher level for a fee is there?

Watched them against Blyth in a 3-0 defeat. I thought Blyth's right back had a torrid time, but it could have been more to do with the opposing player. He was certainly serious about his game. The lad was quick, but the ball into the middle was lacking a bit. However again that could have been due to the fantastic man of the match performance from the young Blyth centreback; Christopher Swailes.
