steveoafc Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Have they some new investor who has £££££££££ to splash? I seem to recall having read somewhere that a conference side was being backed with big bucks.....i presume it's crawley then? How do they find them?? Quote
Bristolatic Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I seem to recall having read somewhere that a conference side was being backed with big bucks.....i presume it's crawley then? How do they find them?? Crawley are a wealthy club. I know someone whose son plays for them and you wouldn't believe what his wages are. I won't break a confidence, but there's more than few L1 players wouldn't mind earning as much as him. Quote
Crusoe Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 They even signed our own Danny Hall this summer... Crawley are this season's big spenders, with a convicted tax evader managing them, and possibly the most hated team in that league as a result. They've basically cherry picked players from the lower leagues to buy their way to success - I for one am hoping for a major fall from grace for them. Richard Brodie (York) - £300,000 Kyle McFadzean (Alfreton) - believed over £100,000 Sergio Torres (Peterborough) - believed £100,000 to £150,000 Matt Tubbs (Salisbury) - £70,000 initial fee Ben Wright (Peterborough) - £60,000 Pablo Mills (Rotherham) Liam Enver-Marum (Eastbourne Borough) Jamie Cook (Exeter) Craig McAllister (Exeter) Darragh Ryan (Stevenage Borough) Michel Kuipers (Brighton) - already looks like being replaced with a new signing Danny Hall (Chesterfield, formerly our very own!) Steve Masterton (Morton) Scott Neilson (Bradford) - believed five figure fee Dean Howell (Aldershot, ex-Crewe) Chris Flood (Salisbury) - £10,000 They also had a bid of £150,000 turned down for Dunfermline's Willie Gibson, £200,000 turned down for Rushden's Lee Tomlin, who joined Peterborough instead, and a rumoured bid of £250,000 for Rotherham's Nicky Law. Some papers are estimating they've spent just shy of £600,000 this summer on an entirely new squad. Quote

Guessing that figure doesn’t include signing on fees for the free transfer players either. With the wage allocations on top; you’d be looking at £1 Million total spend surely? Wow. Stands back and waits for that to implode then......... Quote
