Alec1954 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/NewsU...2145080,00.html Great news i got to say. you are responsible for half of the hits!
Stevie_J Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/NewsU...2145080,00.html Great news i got to say. Wonder how it compares to the number of hits (and hence revenue) OWTB clocks up.
opinions4u Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 While I appreciate that there are a number of contractual links for site partners, I really do think that they could be doing more to drive this traffic towards season tickets. The good news is that they sold another 4 last week! http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/Seaso...,,10337,00.html
Crusoe Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Shame so much of the content is poor or out if date. I like the news items and match reports, but the rest of the site could use some improvement.

razza699 Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 whats the difference between hits and views ?
Ackey Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Hits are when you go to the site for the first time, views are as you click through the pages or, in the instance of OWTB, change threads/topics/reply/etc.
opinions4u Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 whats the difference between hits and views ? Not sure. It should be possible to differentiate hits (the numbers of times a web page is clicked on) and the number of visitors to the site (somebody who hits several pages on one visit). I'd guess the latter is views. When the club have this data, or are able to spend any time evaluating it, is another question.
BlueJazzer Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I think the fishul is rubbish (no offence Ackey). I don't like the format that the host site uses. Never use it unless I click on a link on here. About 6 years ago I used to run my own footie website (my first and only) for a local junior side and even that was better laid out! If I could do it with Microsoft (frontpage? Cant remember now!), a book and no experience whatsoever I don't see why the club can't do a decent one of their own....

All well and good making a better website but would the club make as much money running it themselves? PTV must be a good source of income for minimal expense and labour.

None taken, I left Latics ages ago.

See I don't mind the layout too much when it's done properly. There's nothing worse than bum links and well out of date content, but apart from adverts stuck in the middle of articles, it's not too bad. What should be plastered all over there should be the next upcoming match, ticket prices and deals to attract maybe as a banner or something.

LaticsPete Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 It's certainly not perfect but I recommend having a look at other club websites. Ours is much more up to date, the content is refurbished much more frequently - and answers to nearly every question that gets asked on here about dates, times, prices, etc etc are on it if people are bothered to look. It's good, not brilliant - and certainly not bad.
BlueJazzer Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 It's not so bad when ur on an article, I don't mind an ad stuck in the middle. It's more the home page layout. And that annoying giant ad for Latics player with a teensy tiny button to continue to the main site. Its bloody hard and inconvenient to click on with an iPhone!!!
