Deane Kelly

i thought feeney was useful today. he should have buried the shot he had but he won a few headers against the tall centre back, held the ball up well and didnt let their defenders rest. he had one or two shots and but he got himself into good positions and especially when we went 4-3-3, he liked with lewi and fed the midfield and strikers.

10000 times better than Feeney......

You must have a good view of the game today from Toronto. Thing is if you were at the game you will see that collectively we were pretty poor and the service upto the front 2 was non existant. Kelly didn't actually do that much more than Feeney when he came on, having a 3rd man up top made a huge difference was more a tactical move from dickov that won us the game.

The difference was actually managing to get the ball into the penalty area rather than dick about with it on the edge before a move eventually broke down.

Nah difference was Lewi's skill, the ball stuck allowed players to get up in support we score two - simples. Never been Lew's biggest fan but he's looked superb this season and changed the game today by dropping deep and moving inside....

This kind of tactical insight is why I come on here so often, and rely on this forum for most of my own personal Oldham related views. And also why my own sense of sarcasm is superb...

MMMm and so it begins our next Scapegoat..... boo boy or villain... BLOODY sad really we cant just give the lads a chance to play when fit as Feeney isnt Taylor thriving on the abuse, Brill and Smalley utterly pathetic support.

We just cant help ourselves can we irony is one thing self abuse another...

with brill he seems to be going back to his old ways - the odd mistake here and there which may prove costly. this isnt abuse at the guy but sadly an observation which is wearing peoples patience very thin. had a great start to the season but now the old brill seems to be back

One mistake that cost a goal this season?

Not time to drop him.

Correct, both goals came about as as result of wide play and crosses into the penalty area.

Surely a lesson learned for Mr Dickov and his coaching staff.

Personally, I would move Ritchie Jones to a more central midfield position where his direct running and incisive distribution would cause more problems and rest Stephens who has been well below par for several matches now.

Alessanda must start on the left, and I would consider either Dikaba or Millar on the right rather than the enigmatic Taylor.

I assume Kelly will take the place of the injured Feeney.

Can't argue with much of that.

There are a lot of options.

you can only give credit where credit is due im affraid....

feeney spent most of the game on his arse trying to con the ref into giving free kicks, the ref knew straight away what he was doing and quite rightly booked him for it...hence when he did get clocked properly the ref has to decide if its genuine or not...missed a gaol my son would have scored, and to be fair, hasnt really done anything special while hes been here....i and i presume a lot of others are hoping for great things from feeney, abbotts replacement n all that,at present kieran lee is more prolific than feeney....if kelly does great while in the team smashing, far more pace and a bit of trickery about him.

brill is brill.he is either good or bad, this season however he has made some great saves when needed,i think mr gerrard needs to work on his positioning more...

taylor n smalley...havent pushed on....they can do it but are choosing not too...taylor didnt like penney....seems he doesnt like dickov either as he doesnt do what is asked, maybe he is hankering for a reunion with shez, who knows..

you say its picking on players for no reason other than moaning...i reckon if we moved those players out we could bring in better quality and more energetic players in on loan who will work for the gaffer and will put a shift in every game, although i wouldnt dump brill yet.

No I dont.... just we have a history of HAVING to find fault. We all know the club is cash poor and PD trying his hardest. We aint got money to UPGRADE players.

Taylor IS a shadow of previous player but then we see people defending his social antics, only a young lad etc.... Hes a professional sportsman nnow not so young who once teams clocked putting two on him and pushing him one way is highly predictable. Smalley has always polarised opinions but gets VERY positive reviews from scouts and management but has an air of cant be arsed, however do we really know just how bad his back injury was? Brill is first choice keeper and never believe in giving your own players stick DURING matches as doesnt help one bit.

A fit and hungry Taylor would make any team in division but he aint fit and aint hungry.... SIMPLY dont like us slagging our own players off during games.

Stephens has been in a strange place past few games but not got stick. Taylor only has to miss hit a pass and you get some abuse. Just a bit sad.

Thats it.

Am now going to phone Mrs Taylor and tell her to stop feeding him so much.

I still think Taylors best position is between midfield and attack with a free role their.

Wrong thread but for next weeks team i would pick:

Brill

Lee Hazell Mvoto Black

Furman Jones

Millar/Smalley Taylor Alice

Tounkara

why dont we start as we ended yesterday, 4-3-3

brill

lee hazell mvoto black

jones furman taylor

alice tounks kelly

i know there are a couple of players who had gone off but thats how i would start

on another note the reason i left stephens out is that he has been gash since his new contract was signed

So a striker thats come from Semi Pro Irish league is 1000 times better than a striker thats come down from the Championship and has a proven record of 1 in 3 ?

Good call

Past reputations come second to current form IMO.

Alice linked everything in midfield, he should start in midfield, always when away from home, stick with solid 4 in midfield at the start, 5 if needed. 4-3-3 at home maybe. Maybe a 4-5-1 defending but 4-3-3 attacking when away from home?

E.g

GK: Brill

RB: Lee

LB: Black

CB: Mvoto

CB: Hazell

RW: Taylor (pushes into a front 3 as we attack)

LW: Alice (pushes into a front 3 as we attack)

CM: Jones

CM: Stephens

CM: Furman

ST: Tounkara

That way midfield has got plenty of players in, but go to more attacking formation as we attack
