jsslatic
I assume rampant Vale brought more than 285 fans to a local match. Next. EDIT: Yep, Vale brought 2,500. Which means Macc had about 2,500 less home fans than we did. Edited September 19, 2010 by jsslatic
Takemeanywhere
I don't really care how many people turned up at Macclesfield Town. What does concern me is the trend in our attendances so far this season: Notts County 5,037, of which 695 were away fans = 4,342 home fans (a disappointing gate for the first home game of the season) Yeovil Town 4,180 of which 168 were away fans = 4,012 home fans (down by 330 home fans) Bristol Rovers 4,039 of which 219 were away fans = 3,820 home fans (down by 192 home fans) Bournemouth 3,912 of which 285 were away fans = 3,627 home fans (down by 193 home fans) So, people are coming to the game and then deciding not to come back. Where will it end up? I can't believe that it is down to the product on the pitch. Yesterday wasn't great but our record is played four, won two and drawn two. Are people unable to forgive the mistakes of last season? Is it, as Derek Wilson has said elsewhere on this forum, due to the 'decrepit old stadium'? Is it the cost? Whatever it is, it needs addressing because at this rate, the Tuesday night home fixture against Exeter in November will be attended by just three men and a dog. I didn't go yesterday OK, I had to turn up at a birthday bash but I was not planning in going. I ditched my season ticket last year and after the poor to average last 2 home matches (especialy Yeovil) I was waiting for an upturn in performance. Losong to Peterborough will have put a lot of people off. Remember it cost me £40 (plus the loss at home to Shewsbury) was major put off. I have sat in the Chaddy for 1 match. THe Rochdale for two and the Main for 1. I hate the depressive moaning Main Stand but it is far away the best view. The ground stinks. I think that I am also put off by Taylor/smalley performances, the poor lad from Sunderland up front and Feeney's promise but nothing behind it. The end of the debate in my opinion whatever it costs at Latics these days it's clearly too much. I have a ST so I don't know, I envisage about £20? In this day and age where everybody is fighting for a cheap deal ( I work in the retention department of a local ISP, we are not the cheapest but are the best and as a result people leave in droves to go to plusnet etc for £7 p/m) so I understand what it is in a nutshell, the economy. The club will obviously say the wage budget etc has to be accommodated & other costs but I do believe slashing the gate prices would see an upturn in the long run. Then again, I don't run a football club.

RobOAFC
We have approx 2,000 ST holders? Well if everyone of them brings a friend to a game, they can get their friend for £5 ((voucher in back of ST) - btw pick a good game to yeah? ) that would be a extra 2,000 fans for a game, they like what they see = come more often Few deals will be needed by christmas, and to the club board, - only give Dale large section of RRE because their is no way they will bring 4,000 fans, i'd be surprised if they came with 2000+ actually. davebuckley06
i think its the lack of atmosphere an buzz and match day experience. its like a library most the time i remember going as a kid an sitting in the lookers and even when there was no singing there was a buzz about the place creating an atmosphere theres nothing anymore even when the songs get going. think the lookers going is the main problem for that and of course the negativity of last season and end on the seaoson before
BigfinLatic
All the above are valid points, however for me its a lot to do with the teams in this division - its bloody league 1 south. Bournemouth, Brizzle, Notts County... never mind they bring 'three men and a dog" as TMA quite rightly says, they aint exactly local derbies to get he blood boiling, three games in a row which offer absolutely nothing to attract the casual fan... Tranmere, 'Udders, Rockerdale, Wendies... quite simply the only games that could even possibly get more than 6k to a match at BP this season. This ing division is killing this club. Just hope non of those are cancelled and moved to a tuesday night in february....

The club really needs to get a promotion to kick start the club I think... Yup And all too often the emotional blackmail/sympathy card is played. It has pretty much gotten to the stage where people will drag themselves to BP, enter the ground a ten to three, then piss off as soon as possible afterwards. Macca
I've just recently returned going to games and the 'fun' has returned for me. I find it more enjoyable to go although I didn't go yesterday because I couldn't afford it. A lot at the moment seems to be what the club can do for us, think it's time we started to think what we can do for the club. All the talk of new investors putting money into the club is only really going to plug the gap in funding and that won't last forever as we've seen with our current owners. It was mainly full of complete bellends who spouted pure crap for 90 mins but having that fourth stand made a huge amount of difference. It feels like we're just limping along until we get the new stadium which could happen next year or next century really.

Its hard to have any pride in saying you are an Oldham fan given the last five years... I think with a club like Oldham it's to be expected that we will see difficult times and we should all take pride in supporting a club like this rather than being a bandwagon jumper of a big side. Needless to say, poor decisions have been recently though which are detrimental to the club's image. Boundary Park was hardly the colliseum with the lookers stand still up, but at least it had the feel of a proper football ground and given the right conditions a real atmosphere could be whipped up. If Failsworth isn't going to happen we need to start looking at how we restore BP.

No idea, very little information coming out about the progress of the stadium plans. I'm sure if you emailed Alan Hardy as a concerned fan he'd give you as much information as he could.
