oafcprozac
For those of you of a certain age, you will be sad to learn that our former striker David Fairclough (more famous as Liverpool's super-sub in the late 70s) has had a heart attack and is currently in hospital. He only played a few times for Latics during the 85-86 season but pulled on the blue shirt nonetheless. He'll probably be best remembered for his brace against Liverpool in the Milk Cup 2nd Leg, Latics were already 3-0 down from the first leg and despite his brace at BP, Liverpool ran out out 5-2 winners and 8-2 on aggregate. Get well soon David!
opinions4u
First footballer I ever saw score a goal. Came on as a sub in a 3rd round cup game v Bury at Anfield. Bagged a brace in a 2-0 win. Possibly the highlight of his career was (from memory) soring for Liverpool against St. Etienne in the 82nd minute of the 1977 European Cup semi-final second leg to make the score 3-1 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate. They would have been knocked out without that goal and missed out on the final against Broussia Moenchengladbach (give us a 'B'). Diego_Sideburns
The last time I saw him was at Liverpool Airport. We were going to the Isle of Man to watch Latics and he was with his wife seeing his son off on a trip abroad with the Everton youth team. Hope he pulls through. rosa
The local press are reporting it as a 'minor heart scare', so hopefully it's not as bad as was first thought.
